I have been playing PC Games since 1992 and MMOs since 1999....
I FINALLY saw the light and cancelled both my Secret World and Guild Wars 2 purchases, as my friends and I are sick of the way MMOs are designed and play out as well as subscription based models.
Here is what we have been playing and enjoying more than any MMO ever!
Free Lancer Discovery RP 24/7 (persistant world):
One of the many MOD/Servers for Freelancer, which "Chris Roberts" designed and Microsoft ruined, but was saved by the modding community and is considered the best space game ever by many, kind of plays like "EVE Light":

Freelancer?! Oh god.. I dipped so many hours into the game..... sooooooooo goooooooooooooood.
Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2

I also had no problem cancelling my prepurchase a few weeks ago.
That guy takes things to seriously, if he is offended by statues that look like "the devil" than he shouldn't even be playing games in the first place. And it should work fine on any Win 7. Just run it in compatiblity mode for XP.
One of the few games that actually got space combat somewhat right. I never tried any of the mods or even multiplayer, but it's definently a great game. If it had a little more depth in trading/ship customization and such like the X series does, it would be perfect.
