Can't update GW2

WhiteCrossWhiteCross Phoenix, AZPosts: 120Member

This morning I try to log in so I can get the update and I get an error.

It says something like: There is no current event blah blah blah.

Error code: 9 xxx xx x

During the last betas I logged in a few days before the event to get the updates.

Anyone else getting this?

just run the file for the update.  i only see an error if i try to log in.  which is unneccesay because there is no event going.  just run the file.

You don't have to login for the game to get updated. The error you're getting is the one everyone sees atm, so no worries.

so once I get to the login screen I should be all updated?

    It took about 30 seconds.

Is that all the update took...30 seconds?

Should take longer than 30 seconds, depending on when you last updated. Run "GW.exe -image" to be sure.

You can't get past the new launcher (where login now happens) without getting error 9.

Under normal conditions you should not be able to login at all.

A few days ago the launcher got updated and since then the launcher
    will ask for your login.

Error 9 simply means what it says, you either have no access or no beta event
is running. Since there is no beta event it doesn't matter if you have access or not
it will give you the same massage.

There is a way to use the old launcher by using -useoldlauncher at the end of your
shortcut but it serves no purpose for the end-user other than being able to stare
at the login screen and enjoy the music once again.

    Just run the launcher.
You will receive Error Code 9xxxxcc because there are no events ongoing at the moment.

Don't forget, you can also do -useoldlauncher to get that awesome log in screen and music.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
