Again, maybe this time you do read it, I sympathize you got scammed by YOUR RETAILER. But blaming FC because YOU chose to goto a non cerified retaker is flat out wrong, that is NOT their fault.

In the email from your retailer, either both keys or an explination should have been provided, since they obviously scammed you, sadly, it makes sense YOUR RETAILER didnt provide that information. Mind you there was a warning on the official forums warning about scams, unfortunately the beta forums have been purged so I can no longer provide a link.

No matter how you swing it, its a shame it happened but you getting scammed by your retailer is NOT Funcom's fault. I understand, you want people to sympathize with you and probebly want people to tell you how evil FC is, sorry, I rather stick with the truth. And again its a shame it happend but take the leason from youw mistake and next time only deal with renowned and certified dealers in the future.

Dude, they do not accept my kind of card. It does not even go to the verification process. I've contacted live support and they said they do not accept my kind of card (Visa Electron). Again, any comments on my points about how Funcom could have helped me to prevent this?

Again, it was a pre-order code, not a beta code or anything like that. I've had ALL the pre-order listed stuff reclaimed from the store. My retailer sent me a code. Funcom did not say it needs 2 codes, hence i did not know it needs 2 codes. I do not have experience with this because i ALWAYS buy from the official site, even if it's usually the most expensive. The reason why i could not buy from the official site i've just explained above. I thought the code was the only code, as nowhere was written it needs 2 codes, and there were no clues that it needs 2 codes. Even if it might seem weird to you, Eastern European countries do not have access to all the retailers all the rest of the world has. What's that hard to understand?

I do not need sympathy or anything, i've posted here at first to blow steam, thing that i've even admitted in my 3rd post or such. I am trying to quit this so please leave it be as it is, if you think that Funcom could not have done anything better to inform me and help me not getting scammed it's fine, good for you, good luck in life and god helps this never happens to you. Yea i know it won't because you will always buy from an official retailer... because you have access to them and i do not, being a 2nd grade human.

Pre-paid credit card. That would do it.

So your card isnt supported by mastercard, american express, visa nor discover. These are pretty much the only 4 credit cards any mmo company accepts, its not funcom's fault your card isnt supported by these 4. IF yours is, then your card would work UNLESS they can not verify it.

Your retailer SHOULD have provided you with the information needed, while I agree their faq could have been better, it tells the thing you really need to know, retailers sent keys, when you order directly from them you dont.

    Ok we're slowly getting somewhere.

They clearly state on the order page Mastercard, Amex, Visa (NOT Visa Electron). My Visa Electron works perfectly with Blizzard, NCSOFT, SoE, Trion and others (like Amazon Uk) etc.

That retailer sent a key. One key. I did not know it needs 2 keys. That's my point. It was not stated anywhere and i could not have known, unless i've had encountered this before, which i had not, because, like you, i always chose a trustworthy retailer, and who's more trustworthy than the official company? Now i've learned that those usually give you one key which upgrades from pre-order to retail, hence i never encountered the two keys problem ever before.

Even with a dodgy retailer, because there was no other choice and i really want to play this game, what can go wrong? I pay, i get a key, if it does not work, then i contact them. If they go on mute, i can charge back. Just now it seems that i need 2 keys, and i was not made aware of it by any means by the producer, and cannot charge back anymore as it's too late. If the purpose of having 2 keys is also to help the player not being screwed up by the retailer, then please provide all the info needed, that's all i'm bashing them about. If you read my posts closely, i've stated that Funcom is my favourite gaming company, so no it's not some hate i have against them out of the blue. Hope it makes more sense now.

Sorry for what happened to you but i cannot understand why you don't give that retailer's name/website out for people to know and avoid it. If that had happened to me i would effin put heir name/website everywhere i can so people would know.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

And still you haven't answered and continue to ignore to name the exact retailer online you purchased for just give a name and a website until you can atleast do that I am gonna think your just on here lying to try to get someone to toss you a retail key or in hopes funcom will feel sorry for you and give you one. There is NO reason for you not to name the website and retailer you got it from especially considering that scammed you.

I decided to wait until Tuesday, then i will make the name public as deserved. I still dream and have hope that some misunderstanding was somewhere on the way, the retailer just does not have the box anymore or anything like that and now they are deciding on a method to solve this. No i'm not here for Funcom to throw me a free registration code.

For what ever reason they desided not to accept Visa electron is upto them.

You could have ordered from Amazon. Origin, Best buy to name a few, you desided to go elsewhere.

What can go wrong ordering from a dodgy retailer? Well.. not sending you the retail key required, not giving all the information, a certified retailer would have given so you WOULD have known about the 2nd key requirement so you would know they are scamming you? What can go wrong? this whole thread is about what CAN go wrong if you dont use certified and renowned retailers.

And again.. on the beta forums, which are unfortunately purged now.. they did have a warning about scams. But again, Im sorry this happened but learn from your mistake and next time ONLY order from certified and renowned retailers, ESPECIALLY when you order on the net.

Yea i get your point, also please understand that it was the only option at that time. I did not say i have not learned my lesson, but unfortunately for me, the official retailers are many times not an option. Amazon UK did not have any sellers delivering to my country, that's the only one from the list i could use. I agree i did not check Origin because that one did not cross my mind. I did not say i had no fault, i am saying that Funcom never did one bit to help informing me.

Best buy, origin, gamestop, there probebly are others too, you always have a choise, it was your choise to deal with a shady dealer, there was a post about scams on their forums, that and the existance of scam con and fake sites are common knowlage.

Dude, most of them do not deliver to my country. It's not like i wanted to order from a shady source. Again, i had no problem with this retailer ever before, bought several other games from them, all went good (still waiting till Tuesday maybe something went wrong at their end somehow). Still, sharing the info and how things work to register your codes, and that there are 2 codes, and make a clear account page, not saying normal when not playable, and not being able to sub to a game i dont own, and not being able to buy upgrades to a game i dont own, i believe some of that is on Funcom's shoulders also.

You're trying to throw all of it on me, ok, do so if it makes you feel better, i was just stating a problem, i am 100% you understand my point and agree with a lot of it, just not want to accept my part of the truth so there's no point into debating it more.

Alot of stores offer digital versions.

We understand your point and no, other then understanding it sucks, hardly anyone if anyone at all will agree with you that funcom is to blame for his.

Please do not speak for everyone and lose the condescending tone. Funcom could do better informing on this, and having a better account management page, and offering payment options as any other good company can.

cant think of any game that had only pre-order key. Rift, SWTOR definently had two.

Im not speaking for everyone but reading these pages.. there really arent all that many that agree its funcom's fault, there are how ever ALOT who say its not.

Sure there is room for improvement to their faq, but a faq ussually isnt there to avoid people from getting scammed, they are there to help people with stuff.. like creating their acount, where to add a registration key, what credit cards are useble.

Information like there being a seperate pre-order and retail key(which are commonly 2 seperate keys) is given to the retailers and the retailers should have given both keys and the explination.

Im sorry but what credit cards they do and dont accept doesnt make them acounteble for you getting scammed by a uncertified 3th party retailer. YOU chose to use that one.   Not getting any reaction from your retailer says it all. They knew.

It sucks but sadly it still is your own fault, stomping your feet doesnt make it any less your own fault.

Who said anything about FAQ? No, i wanted to be informed, after i've registered my pre-order key, that "You have registered your pre-order key and will be able to play until xx.xx.xxxx. To continue playing, you will be required to register your product key which you can find on the label of your DVD blabla". It would have helped if i could not buy upgrades to a product i do not own. It could have helped if i could not subscribe to a product i do not own. Do you find normal that i can do that? When you can buy upgrades and pay subscription, what does it feel more natural to you, owning or not owning the product? That would have opened my eyes. These were my accusations, answer to these if you want, why are you beating around the bush?

The credit card was just a side thing, it is the only company selling things online which i encountered that does not accept my type of credit card.

It does not make them accountable for anything, but i believed it is in their own interest to protect their customers and their product, that's all. I will probably be buying the game again and add it to my pre-order account. No, i do not need charity and pity from funcom or anyone, as people before sugested, but this still leaves a bad taste. By the interest you put in this thread i am more and more convinced that you actually are a Funcom employee. I've learned something from this "experience", i hope you guys have learned something also.

Thanks panthien for info but I have already added the CC when I bought the game from them. That is why that letter baffled me.

FAQ : Frequent asked question sections are made so people can look up answers when they have difficulties creating an acount or when they try to register a key, if they put it betwine every step of the registration process you would have to work through 20 pages of text, which makes the whole registration process hard and.. anoying.  You got an email with your pre-order key and where to use it, do you still have it? Im posive its a generic email from your retailer with some basic info and a key, they left out some information and judging how you cant even seem to reach them, that part was intentional.

The credit card was just a side thing, it is the only company selling things online which i encountered that does not accept my type of credit card.

There are plenty of other companies who dont accept Visa Electron.

Atleast now you acknowlage they are not to blame, I can understand you feeling disapointed but well.. the game nor funcom are not to blame for you being hussled.

But yes, sadly the leason once again is.. dont buy from uncertified / renowned companies.

Do you find that Funcom has nothing to do with what was written above? Do you believe that it would have been a proper (not better, proper is the right term, what they did looks like a 4th grader job) approach to protect their customers? Do you or do you not think that i have reasons to believe that Funcom did a sloppy job with their account management page? Yes you do, but you will not accept it because you are working for them. Yes i agree i have my part of the fault, why cant you agree you have your part of the fault also. People are not stupid.

Yes i still have the retailer's e-mail. It contains text (you bought bla bla, order etc) and a key. I did not know i need 2 keys. Funcom did not write anywhere that i need 2 keys. They said "if you buy from 3rd party you'll get a registration key". I did not know that the retailer was withholding information. I've got a key. Thought it was the registration key, as Funcom said. It's Funcom's fault that they did not clearly and visibly inform how the registration process is gonna take place (i have sugested a very very very simple and common approach) with the first pre-order key and then a second retail key.

If you continue to totally ignore my points and still talk nonsense about things i have never even touched, i'm not gonna answer anymore. If that's what you want to hear and makes you sleep better over night, there you have it, you won.

As been said before: Funcom does accept Visa Electron if you choose Visa (Unless they changed this for TSW, which would surprise me but not impossible)

The info about 2 keys is there. If you bought it through official channels or atleast did an extensive read up on TSW before buying.

You went to an unofficial retailer and they seem to not have a clue. They didn't provide you with full details. So again I don't see any fault with Funcom, even if you used your pre-order code in my eyes they didn't had to provide another warning since if you purchased it at official channels you would have been informed sufficient (or at a better non official retailer).

And no I'm not a fanboy, don't even play any Funcom titles.

In my eyes: Go berserk on your retailer instead of wasting energy on venting frustration on a forum or towards funcom.

Even if you spent a day trying to mail or call em. Might I suggest to keep at it a few days? And if you can't bother than stop bothering to post about it. Since again: the fault is mostly at your retailer and in my eyes you didn't properly read up on how things worked.

    *edit*

The part of being able to upgrade a product you don't have... If you got the pre-order code YOU HAVE THE PRODUCT but the key will get to you at the release day. WHEN you get it at OFFICIAL channels (or an unofficial retailer with half a brain who does things properly) again Funcom isn't to blame since if you have the pre-order code you have the retail code in their eyes.

PS: It amazes me to see comments of others going all "wth i need to fill in payment details to get my free 30 days" Seriously do people not read anymore? And to make it even worse these procedures have been around for a long long time. MMO games are not single player games so please read up on how they work and how subscriptions work.

Please provide the official link. We're talking official sources here, aren't we? My main fault was going to an "unofficial" retailer, so let's keep it official.

"As been said before: Funcom does accept Visa Electron if you choose Visa (Unless they changed this for TSW, which would surprise me but not impossible)"

So when the registration page says CLEARLY that we do accept Mastercard, Amex, Visa (NOT Visa Electron) - that's exactly what it says, check payment methods - and i contact live support and they say they do not accept Visa Electron, i should do "more research" on this forum because it actually works. Yes you are right, Funcom seems a very professional company.

Anyway i'm gonna take your advice and stop posting here. There is no point in doing that.

So if i have the pre-order code they "suppose" that i have the retail code so they can take my money but also they "suppose" that i do not have the retail code and i stole the pre-order code from somewhere and now i'm trying to screw them over? I need to have the final product to be able to upgrade. Upgrades and special offers should be possible after i enter my retail code (i have it, don't i?)

    Why are 2 keys needed?

    1) Because i can screw them over, case in which the retailer tells them "this guy did not pay", they ban me, easy solution

    2) Because the retailer can sell the pre-order and the retail codes as 2 separate full product codes

Who protects me from 2) ? Only common knowledge? Wouldn't a crispy clear way of how things work when registering the game you bought from a 3rd party be a good idea?

You are only tryng to find a way to pun fincum, right.

Visa E not accepted, ordered online from a local retailer that buys from Amazaon. You played Rift, this and that other game butnever encountered the need to revalidate a beta/early access account. Never seen the usage of two code. A retailer that is able to send you the beta/headstart.

No but you then try to steer the blame Funcom again, as it is really their fault because they would not accept your CC in the first place. Sure...

You have bothered the obvious with making this thread here, hence naming Funcom, who are your retailer?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
