    I think he meant as in the top dog, and at a time he would have been right but many would argue whether that status still belongs to WoW. 

    Edit - If subs decides that status I suppose he's still right. I guess the question is what makes a game the alpha game?

    YAY! A game that I have no ties in developing, no stock in, and no affiliation with (save for the fact that I play it) is the alpha!

     

    Looks like I really taught those competitors a lesson or two in building a winning game.

     

    I am very proud.

    Yes, because MMORPG.com how an MMO becomes the alpha. No wait, it doesn't.

     

    The thread clearly indicates MMORPG's, to me meaing as a genre, not this website.

     

    Also, I believe that numbers make up the alpha, not reviews on MMORPG.com.

     

    WoW beats every single other MMO with numbers by a clear mile, also, if we look at reviews away from this site it also beats every other MMO with the amount of good reviews it has.

    I believe the OP either needs to change his title or define what he/she intended "alpha" to mean.  WoW is neither the first nor the most popular MMORPG.  A simple search will show just how far off WoW is from either of these possibilites.  For example,
