What's with Funcom and there supper high end GFX requirements?

WarjinWarjin Member UncommonPosts: 1,216

Funcom seems to be hell bent on releasing games that require the best GFX card, IMO this is one of the reasons AOC didn't make it big, Funcom is not making very good business moves having there games require $400+ GFX cards to play, this only limits the amount of people that can play and in turn hurts revenue.

I can only get 15fps and I was also reading that even players with GTX 670 are only getting 30fps, really Funcom needs to learn off there mistakes, never, ever set supper high system requirments for a sub based MMO, this alone is means death, Funcom and all MMO's for that matter sould  tweek the games to run in a range of 8 years of system hardware not the last year alone.

    Try turning your settings down.

    Minimum requirements listed here.

Biggest things to turn down for performance are shadows and motion blur.

Yeah I turned everything on low, even ran it on dx9 and lowered Res. and at best I only get 15ish fps, I'm just going to have to buy a new GFX card, I needed onle anyways.

i play on a gainward 2GB GTX560Ti on ultra with everything turned up... in PvE and PvP including Fusang with no fps issues at all.. they might not be stunning between 40 - 60 fps... but it's more then playable and i'm upgrading to a GTX680 soon anyways so yeah lol

Honestly, you can get GFX card from places like newegg for well under $200 that can more than handle TSW.  Keeping your pc up to date is par for course if you're into PC gaming.

It's actually a very smart business move that promises your game will still look good years down the line.  It might suck a bit at release, but 3 years from now when current high end cards are cheap, the game will still have nice graphics.

Age of Conan released in 2008 and what do you know, 4 years later it's still considered one of the MMOs with the best graphics.  I'm sure in 2008 people complained, but in the long run, it's better.

I'd upgrade your RAM if I were you.  It's very memory intensive.  Recommended is 6g but you can get 8g for $100-$150.

that is a terribad gpu.  for the price of an xbox or ps3 you could have a great midrange card that will play any mmo on ultra.  you got to pay to play

I tried the game out on my old laptop with a 9800m gts card in it which is pretty crappy nowadays and it runs ok on low in dx9.. get about 30 fps average so its playable.. honestly you don't need much to play this game.. to get it a smooth 60 fps at ultra  is another story though:P

It's not that bad. I have a 6870 and can crank up everything but tesselation and still get well over 30FPS on average. It runs a hell of a lot better than a lot of other MMOs I've played.

I just built a rig from NewEgg with 16GBs of Corsair gaming RAM that was like $114!  You can get 8GB for like $64 now.  It's hella cheap.

I agree... the rest of your PC doesn't seem all that bad.  You can spend less than $300 to add a decent GPU and 8GB of RAM.

Prices are ridiculously low right now for PC builders.

RAM's come down quite a bit. You can get 8g for around $60.

Edit: Check your OS and motherboard to see how much memory it supports first.

Well for starters your GPU barely better than an integrated solution. Get yourself something like a 550Ti or whatever the ATI equivalent is, it won't break the bank and you'll get pretty good performance.

You could use more ram too.

For reference I use a 2.6Ghz C2Quad with 8 gigs ram and a 1Gb 4850. My PC is getting pretty dated and I had no performace issues in CB.

Your Gfx card does not even perform upto the minimum spec cards recommende so there is your problem. Don't waste money on extra ram get a new gfx card!

  • Crunchy22Crunchy22 Member Posts: 51

Yeah i dont even think that card you have is for gaming...

Im running a very outdated GTX 260 and can run the game fine on min settings (aside fusang that wasnt doable)

Also the min settings look better than most games do on max.

  • BlindchanceBlindchance Member UncommonPosts: 1,112

Ignore people who advice you buying more RAM. You have 4 and that's more then enough even on Win7. Get yourself a good GPU, what you have is almost as bad as integreated GPUs.

Yeah, not necessary, the only thing the OP needs is a mid-end or better gfx card.

(I have 4gb ram myself and it's ok, it would probably have been better with more ram, but probably not too noticeable, and not worth it if you are on a budget)

I am playing the game on my laptop running ultra on Direct x9 and getting like 50+ FPS on direct x 11 like 29-34, my laptop is a MSI GT70 ONC my computer at home can run this game on Direct x11 with everything turned on to the max and get like 60-70 FPS , Super overclocked GTX 580 AMD 8150 eight core processor and 10 gigs of ram, np with running anything on that machine .
