Is there a release date on that yet? I'm still waiting. I bought D3 and wish I hadn't, really. I think they've somehow taken the Diablo out of Diablo. It just doesn't feel like the same series of games to me. But what do I know? I'm just one gamer. Loads of people seem to love it, so....whatever.
Oh....and I'm an example of ONE of the 6.3 million who bought the game, so some of them....are unhappy with it, so yeah. Just because 6.3 mil bought it, doesn't mean they all love it.
I regret it too! Had fun on the normal playthrough with my Barbarian and finished the story on normal.
But after that it quickly becomes TOO obvious that the ENTIRE game is designed around the RMAH to fill Blizzards pockets!
I don't mind the RMAH, but that the game has been entirely designed around it makes me sick!

I am pretty sure I did not say the game sucked, I merely stated it sould not be on this forumn and its an outdated game in 2012
I play a lot of old games but hell if we are going to put them on MMOPRG we ought to put Fable or Elder Scrolls or Devil May Cry or ME or Blac Isle, Dale ICEwind similiar on these forumns as well. Just saying
Really? You said that in your original post..... It must have been in invisible font, because I sure as hell don't see it.
Well no but I did not say it was awful either, which i why I have clarfied my intial point
Fair enough but my problem is that, in my opinion, an original post should be the post setting the stance, making the point/argument and then the rest of posts backing that up.
I just don't see it here.
Because of general reaction across this forum about D3, your post just comes across as you being another person that is just bitter about D3... I mean your original post was about the graphics style and if it really was about the isometric graphics style and not about it being #3, then shouldn't you post this same argument against Drakensang Online, TL, TL2, Path of Exile.. And why stop there, let's target other dated graphics styles too, all those games using Final Fantasy Tactics style graphics, or Threads of Fates style graphics, there are just as many of those dated style of MMO's out there too...
But people still play and like that graphics style... So I would think that as long as there is a fan base that they all have a place here.

The games perspective does not make it outdated. It has a different feel etc and there are reasons to chose 2D. 2.5 (isometric) or 3D from a design standpoint. The view lets you see all those baddies surrounding you etc. I am going to go ahead and assume you are just baiting people though. I agree that it is not an MMO but again. . that has nothing to do with the viewing perspective of game play.
If thats true name one game other then torchlight that released under this model, PS3, XBOX, Wii any platform?

I agree and yes Drakensang Online, TL, TL2, Path of Exile all are dated as well but may still be fun to many still playing
Originally posted by gexz7 Originally posted by tordurbar Originally posted by gexz7 Isometric games in 2012, really? The feeling died with D2
The 6.3 million people who bought the game obviously feel different. Maybe you should try it.
Yeah hows that working out for you? I played D2 for years but I did not get suckered into laying down $50+ dollars for an expereinces that is outdated in 2012. Lets be honest D3 would have been great as a 3D game similar to WOW, but then noone would pay for WoW anymore. There use to be a time when a good game was played by many across a lan or Gamespy hosted server now we are thrown junk and no matter how you spin it its akin to watching a movie in 2012 on VHS, sure a few diehards will do it, but the rest of humanity prefers DVD Blue_Ray on 1080P, how many of you will trun in your smartphone for just a phone? really?
It's working great for me. I paid 27 pounds (roughly $40) for Diablo 3 and I got my money's worth out of it.

Forget Isometric...... I want a 2D side-scroller MMO OH YEAH!

Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance etc. They are not MMOs but you are arguing that D3 is not either. . which I agree with. It does not mean that an MMO can not use that perspective. Look at Salem for example. Most games let you zoom out to the point that you pretty much have the option of both anyway.
I am assuming games created with 3D models and using this view. . not 2.5D sprite based graphics.

They have those. Mostly they're free to play too.
They still shoot movies and take pictures in black and white. Sometimes things are done for artistic and nostalgic reasons. A Diablo game in anything but isometric view would be an abomination. The game is 3D by the way. They just locked the camera perspective.
