Yes they are very good but they require some significant memorization. You have to execute your moves by combining 3-6 things together in particular combinations of up to a sequence of 5 things.
You can't just hotkey the good stuff. They are an advanced class.
Also wardens fight like a greek hoplite rather than doing silly fighting with large polearms. Which historically is really stupid since polearms are for formation fighting. Even hoplite style fighting is meant to be formation fighting but the style of spear use and size of spear makes individual fighting practical. A long halberd or guisarme or a pike going one on one with a prepared opponent with an axe or sword is just kind of dumb unless that dude is mounted or something then it might be a better option (although not fighting some one mounted is smarter).
Wardens don't have to use spear they can use swords axe and clubs as well, but they are meant to be spear wielders.

There is Tera with a class that uses a polearm and shield and is a tank.
Not my type of game, but doesnt mean you wont like it.
Guardians in Age of Conan can use polearms.
