i still can't even connect to get the set-up files. able to download the client/installer. when i unzip the file and run the installer it still says i can't connect to the server. anyone have any idea how to fix this?
The launcher is buggy as hell. My gf had to reboot her computer halfway the patching process, as it hang. After reboot it continued and finished without problems.
Killing the Blizzard Launcher in Task Manager didn't work... really had to reboot the computer. :-/
Worked fine for myself and everyone else I know, might want to do some troubleshooting on your end.
I've re-downloaded the installer twice, they keep getting stuck at like 60% something about installation files. Their error code says something worthless about restarting the pc, did - it did nothing, re-downloading, did - it did nothing. Pretty pathetic, so glad I didn't order the game.
Again *ahem* beta stress test
Did you try turning off the Peer to Peer download option?
if people can't download or even logon to a, 'single', player game, thats not a great P.R. move is it?
It's suppose to be a marketing pitch, thats what open betas are now. I haven't been able to logon for about four hours now. I'm not even that interested in D3, just bored. Not gonna convince me to buy it, (if that was an option for me), less then a month away from launch.

We are on the same network at home. I downloaded the game this morning... went like a breeze.
She started downloading a couple hours ago and it hang several times... sometimes the launcher hung on connecting.
It's the Blizzard servers that are overloaded at the moment and the launcher not coping with it really well.
Spent 2 hours playing just now. Even though I'm a true Diablo (hardcore-mode) freak with over a decade of playing that series under my belt, D3 hasn't really convinced me. Maybe it's just the class choice that seems very boring mouse-smashing (barb), I will try what magic is like next.
Had no trouble with installer and played on American servers.
I had the same feeling. Graphics look pretty decent. Nice detail here and there. Just a shame there is no char customization, but that was to be expected from this type of game I guess. But still, would have been nice, as you are able to play with other players.... would have been nice to distinguise yourself a bit more.
The skill system is rather simplified and bit dissapointing.... especially after having tried out Path of Exile last week, DIII feels really dumbed down. :-/
I am not convinced either... so I am glad I have the opportunity to try out the game this weekend.
Yea, it's a bit odd that there's no character customization actually. I at least didn't see any animations that required a white-bearded old-man to be successful. Graphics are so-so to me (playing with High+AA), but this series was never really about that, so I can let it slide.
Skill system is very simple and like you, I don't think it's a good thing. My barb had cleave on left mouse and rend on right..didn't see a single battle that required me to change them. Also changing those skills is very painful compared to old Diablo (default F1-F8). Of course I may be missing some crucial things here, but changing the skills fast wasn't made apparent. If someone knows how, please tell.
Also the skills you get to pick for 1-4 seem very lackluster. The first one you get is a 4 sec stun on 12 sec cd, I can't even see myself replacing that ever.
Thank god for open beta though, I love that some companies still do this. No NDA bullshit and it shows they actually have some trust in their game, unlike some others such as Funcom.

hmmmm. i currently have a macbook with a windows 7 partition. just tried running it on windows and it downloads and can get to the launcher set-up....only thing is i don't have enough space on the window's partition. maybe this is just a mac client problem? has anyone else had trouble/gotten it to work on mac?

Not to argue but I still don't see how having to assign a stat point every level and for example put 1 point into swords that will give you +1% dmg with sword is customisation or even fun?
I honestly think players are Indoctrinated into a stat point/talent tree system and refuse to look outside the box.
I like that blizzard did something different been a hell of a lot easier to go with stat points and trees. At max level a monk will have over 100 active skills (with runes) he can choose from but can only use 5 at a time - I call that customisation, chances of meeting a monk with the same 5 skills as me and the same 3 passive skills is quite remote.
You can build an AOE damage dealer, a singe target damage dealer, a healer a support/buff class, use swords, aces, maces, staves, fist weapons. you can specialise in differnet weapons with gems and enchants, some skills do different things depending on what weapon you're using.... hope you see what I am saying.
Is the D3 system better than the old stat point/tree system? I don't know yet.. no one does.

I'm a total noob in D3 myself and really can't be bothered to read a lot unless I have even a slight idea what actually happens. That of course requires playing the game. Also as a non-native english speaker, some things just fly past me.
Personally I would've been just fine with a stat point/skill tree system. At least on hardcore there were a lot of different skill tree combinations that players went for. The only differences I can think of straight away were Assassins and Necros, because Traps/Summoners were just so much better than the others. That wasn't the case otherwise.
Stat point system was very defining too. For example I always went for dexterity+strenght as a hardcore Sorceress to get maximun Block Chance and the ability to weild -damage % items, such as Stormshield. I didn't see that many others who did it. Then you had your Teleporting Hammerdins and meleeing Zealots etc.
Still, I'm open to new things, it just takes time to truly understand them.
Getting download speeds roughly 25% of what they should be...this is going to take a while to get going for
Ive downloaded the whole thing in less than 1 hour.. It wasn`t that bad at all. Maybe its the peak time right now.. You sould try later afternoon.. The other thing that bother me most is, that I`m recieving and "Error 35" That says that servers are busy and I cannot get into the game.. so you won`t have to worry.. Once you`ll download it you`re not gonna be able to play the game anyway.. So don`t worry , there is no rush .

Best of luck with the, 'reporting back', it's been impossible to get on to World Of Diablocraft for a while now :P
Does not matter what you all say...Error 37 is a culprit right now. Noone is playing.
Some are playing. Just the mystery number of people Blizzard is letting play. I was on for a bit a couple hours ago. Got a character to level 5 in co-op with a friend. Then he got randomly kicked from the game, so I logged off too for a bit.
Turns out, that may have been a mistake
Stress tests, especially ANYTHING server related involving Blizzard is always a real joy to deal with.
GL to those trying to play.

I've been playing as a wizard initally and just messing around with the other classes as well. So far I'm throughly enjoying it, I can imagine it's even better in coop.
The story seems to be interssting enough to keep going with and the combat quickly becomes quite tactical in places, it does as a mage anyway.
A frustrating wait to be sure but so far I'm having fun with it.

Got in. Played for an hour and a half - first time I have touched the game.
