Well, it was the only MMO that got me hooked.

There will never be another one like this.

Eh?  I thought this was the one that was getting redone.  Called Jumpgate; evolution... something like that?

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if that one got abandoned.  There hasn't been a peep about it in over a year.

I was not much of a fan of Jumpgate Evolution to begin with.

Mainly because it was a 3rd person arcade flying shooter with cheezy voice acting despite the much better graphics.

The Jumpgate I know was not a typical MMORPG that the rest of the games are, in a matter of fact it was the most diverse MMO out there where it was an actual space flight simulator, played in first person with the ability to use a joystick for controls. It also featured a sandbox style gameplay with an open PVP system that was balanced as well. The outcome of especially the PvP battle, was based on the player's real life skill instead of dice rolling.

Yeah I was sort of expecting this game to shut down too.

So for an MMO to offer a real flight engine where you're gliding through space, I will truely miss this one.

Last I heard, they didn't like how it was turning out and went back to the drawing board.  Radio silence ever since.  Now there's that other arcade style space shooter that's F2P.  They probably saw that launch, not do particularly well, and decided to shelf it.

The way I heard it from the NetDevil guys, JGE was shut down by their owners (some company in SF) when the NetDevil studio was closed in 2011.  It had been going nowhere since Draker left anyway.
