Having played another hour of my free trial i definitely wont be buying the game come the end of it.

Its playable but thats about it. Never seen such lifeless models.

Im still in hutta. Level 10 bounty hunter.

The tedium has set in already.

Yup the guys at bioware should be shot for making such a lifleless environment. I would want heads to roll if i had invested in this venture.

Quite a depressing environment to play in.

Oh well i gave it a go.

Off to watch the walking dead..cya.

Terra must deliver and GW2 even more so.

I seriously cant level a panda in wow.

There are five BioWares. You cannot blame one in particular.

SWToR is not a bad game, its just that its best features(VO and Storytelling) are not MM friendly. You need to slow down and appreciate them, and since apparently people like to appreciate stuff at different speeds that whole concept goes out of the window as soon as you play in a group.

In no other game have i spent so much time idling while waiting on my fellow groupmembers(actually thats not true, i play eve). Did they really, really have to do a voiced CS for every single silly fetch and kill quest? Couldn't they ... dunno have a narrator from the background tell you to do xy when walking into an area? Like those public quests thingies in WH but with VO? And save the CS for the actually interesting stuff like story progression and character quests?

I am glad you are liking it. I too like it, but end game is CURRENTLY lacking. But, I am confident that it will be addressed very soon. You are going to be told that you are wrong and you really don't like it, but don't pay any attention to it. Afterall, this is the worst site for receiving kudos and encouragement.

The elitist attitude on this board amazes me.  What difference does his long time playing of WOW have to do with the validity of his comments? WOW has been the most successful MMO since it's launch. It only makes sense that it's fan base would get bored and try other games.

It's not a put-down of WoW.   It's just pointing the person making the review has 'one note' experience.   So, personally, when someone writes a 'review' that starts off with "I played 7 years of WoW" and that's it...   I don't give a rat's behind.   Opinions based on someone's vastly limited, one-note experience...   They're of little worth.

Let me put it this way...    Suppose everyday he eats WoW Burgers.   He goes to WoW burger for breakfast, lunch and dinner and he has WoW Burgers.   For seven years.   Now he decides to become a food critic because, for the first time in seven years, he's not eaten a WoW burger, but went across the street and got the same exact burger except it's called SWTOR Burger.   Sure, the wrapper is different.   And, it's not as well made a WoW Burger.  But it's different and since he's bored out of his mind about WoW Burgers, he's going to give SWTOR Burger a three-star rating because it's not a WoW Burger and that's all he's got to compare it to...

I, like many others, laugh at these reviews.   Not becasue MMO elititsts.   But because the reviewer has only one experience by which to rate his current experience.   He needs more experience.   And his 'bragging' about his one-note experience, no matter how long, is still one-note.

It will always be hip to bad mouth the popular kids... be it WoW or SWTOR.

I am not sure why people who just want the "End Game" PVP experience don't just play FPS or fighting games, those games give them what they want.

What an uniformed thing to say.   I played Eve Online for about a year and two accounts, no end game there.   I played Korean grind-fest Mabinogi for two years, no end game there.   I played Guild Wars for over a year, no end game there.  I played LOTRO for two years, end game is there, but so is story.   I played Fallen Earth until Icarus went belly-up, had great leveling experience, crafting adn community features, but no end game.   Never bothered me.    I've got a year, over-all, in EQ2 though not more than few months in any go around and have never gotten to end-game but I enjoy the stories.

i've enjoyed my time in failed MMOs as well.  STO had the best 'space combat' I ever had.   The stories were far more interesting than SWTORs.   The ground combat, however, was the dogs breakfast and game breaking.     DDO is good for a couple of weeks every now and then.  But rapidly becomes annoying due to the min/max build issues forcing you into 'build-paths' you may not want to play because if you don't, you can't group.  DCUO is fun.  And I never, ever, thought I'd like a comic book MMO.   Every aspect of that game is equal or better than SWTOR except the lip-syncing which is very jarring.  AoC has some of  the best combat in an MMO.   It really does feel epic and heroic, something SWTOR shot for and missed.   The graphics aren't top notch, especially all the models have 'pop-eye' syndrome.   But for PvE combat...   It's really good.  Outstanding feel and pacing and far more intellgent mobs than SWTOR.

SWTOR is deficiient on it's merits.   The guld structure is a joke.  Crafting is a joke.  End game is a joke.  The engine is broken.  The servers ghost towns.  Leveling is too fast.  The stories are cliche' and boring.   The economy is broken.   The worlds are dead and static, like unihhabited Potemkin Villages.   See, it doesn't fail on 'just has no end game.'

So i guess some of you wont understand a guy like me who cant fully immerse themselves in the SWTOR storyline enjoying reading and listening to lines and lines of endless waffle.

At 39 i havent got the patience or time and it really doesnt detract from the gamng experience for me.

No, we perfectly understand not liking a storyline.  But what we don't understand is, if you don't like story, why the heck are you playing SWTOR?  LOL

SWTOR basically adds nothing to the genre other than the story.  In fact, it is worse in almost every way from other MMOs other than the story.

I have to agree and dis agree, If you dont like story why are you playing a bioware game? You must have known the game had major story elements to it. I have to say the combat is very good in swtor, I think it is slightly better than wow and not as good as AOC imo, the companion element is better than most mmo's and the crafting is ehh like most theme park mmo's, the space game is good but needs improvement.  So SWTOR does STORY better than anyone else, combat is good, as is there companion play certainly enough to start an mmo with and build on it from there

Kind of ruins the replayablity when the only positive trait is the story, even then i think LOTRO does a better job at it. I felt more immersed in that game than i did trying swtor out. I usually hate storylines, i'm more of a pave my own legacy type player but i enjoyed lotro for awhile.

Lotro does do an excellent job at story what kills them is all the kill 10 bear and boar quests there seems to be hundreds of them

i wont rise to it but im not a WOW fanboy by any means.

Perhaps if i said my first PC was a zx spectrum 48k and i completed 'ultimate play the game' underwurlde you might read on

Or my second PC was a C64 and i completed 'The last ninja' or 'raid over moscow'.

Perhaps i insulted you about not liking the 'lore'?

    open your mind son

    Stop right there son.

Started gaming in the 70's.  Started playing on an original pong set.  First PC was an apple II.  Even played games like Zork.

Do you think I established enough old school cred?

If you enjoy the game great.  However, please come back in 30 days and let us know whether you still continue to feel the same way.  By the time i was 60 days in, I personally could not take it anymore, was space bar'ing through everything also and just cancelled.  After a while, the flaws and poor decisions and incredibly weak feature set was too much for me.

But i think its great you are enjoying yourself now, just remember to let us know what you think in another 30 days

I really get a kick out of people saying "come back in 30 days and let us know if you are still enjoying it" I have been playing from the beginning and 1.7 million of us are enjoying it quite a bit thank you

Over those years i have given it up regularly getting bored of warcraft as you do then return for a few months and then get bored again and then return again and then get bored again saying no more and then return again........

The 'hype' turkeys aka Rift, warhammer, age of conan, LOTRO all stole my grandmums inheritance money and died a quick death.

I played SWTOR beta and wasnt inspired either so cancelled my pre-order.

I went back to warcrap and have given it up again once another alt reached boring endgame at 85 logging into SW every day.

I got the free trial SWTOR email and thought what the hell and tbh i think the game is quite good. Im probably more at home since it is a complete WOW clone so feels familiar but in a different new environment.

Graphically very good, combat system is good which is very important.

Only thing i HATE is the constant 'spacebar' tapping. Im not a 'lore' person and really have no time for the cut scene rubbish. It just interrupts the gameplay flow.

I have a Terra beta weekend coming up next weekend so i will make the decision for Terra or SWTOR until GW2 comes out.

    No more warcraft ^^

    the search continues

Heh I think that is funny. . Most games are crap. . what I was playing was crap.  I tried SWTOR beta and was not impressed.. . now I am playing it and it is the best of the crap out there. . . sort of. . at least not unbearable :)

Is that what you are saying ? :P

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

Not bad at all.  It's just not fun.  Plain and simple - it's a repeat of everything that's being done to death.

    2 factions.

    Mirrored classes.

    pvp for kids.

    Simple political model.

completely disagree just because they put in long drawn out cutscenes with limited choices for these scenes doesn't mean that at the core of the game is not still a endgame ratrace, it's just an endgame ratrace on VO's. People just don't want to accept that. If there was a mentoring or some similar mechanic in the game then yeah i would agree it's meant to be slowly leveled but considering when the best gear is presented and when you are involved in the flashpoints that actually have meaningful drops in gear, it's still an end game ratrace. But it's no different then many of the other themepark games out there. Mentoring or the mechanic that GW2 will have at launch for their game fixes both the heavy solo problem and the rush to the end game thing.
