Only problem with the Legacy system, is that Alt play is NOT fun.  This game doesn't have the Alt FUN aspect that WoW had so therefore this Legacy system isn't enough incentive to making playing alts less tedious.

What aspect in WoW made alt's fun?

I agree... honestly, even though I dislike this game, I think that its one of the better MMos in making alts feel more 'fun' to do considering the stories for each class.

  • SoulticeSoultice Member UncommonPosts: 112

The alts are fun until you hit level 10 then you just head on out and do the same quests you did with your last class.  I am not going to argue about what game does alts better hehe.  SWTOR is a single player mmorpg.  The should have just release it as a PC game and had online play like Guildwars.

Basically the sametype of play with acting and voice overs.  Leveled to 50 and was doing it casually and was very disappointed.

humm maybe 8 seperate starting areas and multiple continuing arcs i.e. Darkshore to ashenvale or westfall to duskwood to, getting the pitcture yet, just throwing that out there instead of what 2 total starting areas for each faction then all the same planets, lol.

Yea, that pause could have used the editing axe. Plus what's with all "and"s and eyes wondering off? Didn't happen in earlier videos? Not enough prepping? Good info, though.

I played WoW for 7 years I know that picture very well. Arc's get boring on the 3rd alt. It's the same quest just different locations. WoW was a great game, but they are running out of ideas on improvements. SWTOR ,yes leveling an alt is running the same planets and such, but the story is different for each class which again would get borning after awhile as well.  So it's compairing apples to oranges.  Now if they combine both, having a choice of planets and storylines along with making every class have different abilities (republic vs empire), along with open world PVP on any planet except starting areas, then that would make for rolling alts all that much more fun. The Legacy system may help with the alt leveling process, we will have to wait to see though.

Actually all the side quests are the exact same thing, all over again in the same zone, so no you can't compare WoW to TOR you are right, one has more variety and depth while the other is just a plan sterile world over and over again. There is no open world PvP because the planets until Queesh are all different levels so OW PvP is dead.

The combat.  Being able to see 1/3 of the world I had never seen on my other character.  The combat.  Enemy AI.  The numerous different zone choices to level in.  If you weren't a fan of WoW then don't respond, those who were fans know what I mean, most of you.  We all have our plethora of alts some of us with 4 or more at cap others with an even higher number.  Each class feels totally unique.

This, this, a THOUSAND times this.  In WoW I had a choice.  I could do a nekid run and level a dwarf in Darn or I could do the same run and level an elf in Stormwind.

In ToR you get one planet or the other.. then the run is EXACTLY the same.  With the SAME ancillary quests.  From level 8 on.

Not excited by the mod gear change? Wtf? Why? Why not let someone that wins the item choose to put it in whatever piece they prefer rather than have to wear the same shit? Especially when you consider what some of the t2 stuff looks like. I don't think everyone is going to be enthused by those or they may prefer what they're wearing over those items or some of the t1. Can't say I would blame them myself.

Why not edit out the scramble for finding the note relating to the guild capital ship? Seemed odd really...

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

LOL Wow. Fail editing. I'm so sorry. I'm re-rendering the video now. I'll try to have them switch out the videos ASAP XD

    /facepalm

On a side now, I find leveling in SWTOR more enjoying than any MMORPG that I've played thus far. I PvP a lot and do class quests ~.^

Pretty easy to not click on it, *really* easy not to read it, even easier not to post in the thread. ;-)

Good article. Maybe not a ton of us folks who are still having fun with SWTOR left here, but as one of those few, I do appreciate them. And Pokket's are pretty cool, she gives good, concise info, and tells it like it is from the perspective of someone who is enjoying the game.

    Keep'em coming!

You need to play more mmorpgs.

And the fact you say you PvP and do the class quests is why you're able to stomach it.

For someone who hates PvP and strictly enjoys PvE ( and I don't mean raiding either ), the game is severely limited once you get a character to 50 in a faction. Redoing the same 90% of crap you did the first time for that 10% of new storyline doesn't cut it.

How can she not be excited about removeable mods. Does she like everyone in exactly the same crappy looking gear at level 50?

If all I had to do was the sidequests, I wouldn't mind so much.  But the combat being as stale as it is....just makes even the thought of grinding a nightmare.  Every enemy reacts the exact same way as every other enemy from level 1 to 50.  Top it off with tedious boring sidequests that don't change either and are over glorified with voiceovers.   No vehicle quests like bombing stuff, 1 escort in total did I come across.  The rest are go kill this many of that, collect this many of that and click on this many of that.   They just aren't done as well as other games like WoW, Rift, EQ2, Lotro and they completely ruin any immersion into the main class quests as a story like that needs to be paced well to work.  Sadly, the side quests in SWTOR throw that pacing off in the worst possible way.

Although you did say PVP and class quests.  That's fine...but holy crap that takes forever and a day and if PVP during the leveling process was more rewarding, I would agree.  However, it's not. You get NOTHING for each valor rank and are expected to go through 50+ of them before they actually matter.  If they had given a reward of some sort to help in PVP every 2 ranks then OK, but they didn't and aren't.

Good feed back impressions. I too am excited for the guild improvements coming as right now there is not much that can be done. I wanted them to also do come ship customization of interior like colors and textures but I guess that is fluff stuff coming later on maybe. I am a player who likes swtor and making alts and the varity of different things and planets you can go to and different stories as depending on what class you are you get different responces to say even if you are doing the exactly same missions you did on a previous toon. Just saying thanks pokket, it's also rereshing to know I am not the only girl gamer out there who actually enjoys this game.

Just a question have you actually played more tahn one class or faction on swtor? Because when I played a cousilor, Trooper, bounty hunter and smuglar to start with I got to answer differently for the missions that were not class specific thus create varity you claim the game does not have. I was just wondering. Also combat is different with every class and the varity in abilites changes depending on what you are doing and as you level I feel give you much more varity than in the other games you mentioned which I have played as well.

Ok, me and some friends devised a new drinking game called REAL  POKKET TALK....

Now, everytime Pokket says   REALLY you have to take either a shot  OR down half your beer...

(as a side venture, you can throw in an added bonus where when she looks off to the side, you have to take off a piece of clothing)

At the seven minute mark, three of us couldnt stand up, and one was puking her guts out in the bathroom.  ALL of us were naked..........

    GOOD TIMES WITH POKKET!
