I shall certainly watch out for this title and hope that it can deliver.

Games that reward crafting and building along with the inevitable combat have the ability to develop great communities as combat monsters will often seek out those who specialise in crafting/building to do all those tasks that they do not enjoy.

Having gone to their site and read up on the back story I got the feeling it sounded a little similar to one I had read before ... Earthrise perhaps?

This may not have anything to do with this title, but how can a very small independent game company like Above and Beyond Technologies get it right when using the Hero Engine and a huge company like Bioware not use it to it's fulliest capacity. Just look at the difference between character creation for this title compared to TOR.

While I won't even touch the second part of that, I can say that from following Josh and co's work for about a half a decade now, they've done quite a few of the most key steps right:

    • they maintained a clear vision of what their game is and will be

    • they worked toward and spoke only about the core gameplay

    • they never succumbed to the temptation to pitch the wishlist as a 'planned feature list'

They seem to have a great combination of focus and talent, which so far has kept the project on track and steadily moving forward long beyond where most small-team indie projects get.

A handful of people that know what they are doing and work well together is better than a hundred people wandering aimlessly and butting heads.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

Well, i know i took a potshot at TOR, but it just amazes me to think how Bioware hogtied themselves when developing with the Hero Engine. We all knew it could do a lot of different things. I guess what it really shows is, the mindset of the devs and what their vision is, on the project they are working on.

Is it safe to assume there will be sexual encounters in this game, considering it is a re-population?

BioWare has gone down hill since EA  took over in my eyes.  I think most of the talent and design artists have left BioWare as I can see many plot holes and glitches in Mass Effect 3.

Game looks promising.  I'll certainly keep my eyes open for further news.

**Edit - Holy shit, have you seen the number of crafting disciplines??**

A craft-centric game at last.  I'll be trying this at the earliest opportunity !

Crafting looks great.  I like it and my interest in this game is high.  Looks sorta Eve-ish in some ways maybe on the ground instead of in space in some respects but in a good way I mean.  Something different here - which I like alot.  I recently purchased a 60 USD MMORPG game, played it 4 days, quit, and uninstalled.  To me, It was mostly a mindless boring rehash of what's been done for years.  They are going for something different here.  I will probably give this one a try.

I would like to see more video of combat mechanics
