Where is my daily "SWTOR is dead/bad" thread?

thefang01thefang01 Member UncommonPosts: 9

I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked the "current forum activity" this morning: There was no SWTOR hate thread anywhere to be seen! Even though that might have been entirely coincidental - me picking the very ten seconds of unusual silence - I will try my best to remedy the situation.

The game is boring.

I can't stand it anymore. All the quests are the same. They have no context. It's all grinding. And every time I want to speed-click my way to a new quest reward, some NPC insists on telling me his entire life story. Why would story ever help with immersion? All I want is kill ten rats and get loot! Who cares about conspiracies, Sith politics or treasure hunts.

That's it, I am leaving. EQ, World of Aion, Tabula Conan, Rift of Eve and all the others are so much better because they have this feature... you know, this one feature that SWTOR doesn't. You know what I mean.

There is no innovation!

You have to do quests. Klick buttons to make monsters drop dead. Ew. Tera - now there is innovation. Sure, I have to do quests and klick mosters dead - but it's like... totally different! It will never get old, not like SWTOR does. It's a game I will play forever. And that's what I am looking for, after all. The perfect game, that will I will never get bored of. Because I really hate all this variety, hate all this switching games after a month or three. An MMO should never end! I want to stick around to make all the effort I put into gearing my character mean something.

Anway, it's the same old. Totally nothing new. That would be porcupine player characters that can fell trees by sneezing at them to craft real world objects by converting the virtual lumber into real jelly.

It has no endgame.

The game ended and now there is no endgame. No game after the end! It's like... over now! That annoying story I was forced to live through is over. The character is maxed out and I worked my way through all of the content.

There is nothing left. Except that other faction and classes. But why play alts? It's the same content. What's the difference between the Republic and the Sith Horde anyway? Playing alts in that other game was so much better. In any case, the game is over and I don't know what to do. This has never happened before!

It's like WoW.

Yes, I said it. It's a WoW clone. Wow is king. I am not saying WoW is the best because it was my first MMO. I am not insisting that it's the king of MMO world because it was the first game in which I completed the long journey to the top, decked myself in the best possible equipment and went through the hassle of actually doing all the time consuming stuff. It's not like the race to the top got old after that, making it impossible for any MMO to satisfy me ever again. No, it's because WoW is so much better. Better graphics, better gameplay, better community, better dental plan.

The PvP is terrible.

Every time I play, I find myself owned by a class other than mine. Seriously, why do I always end up playing the worst of classes? Why do I always lose against those OP sorcerers, assassins and bounty hunters? There is no balance! It's boring, too. Aion, now that is a good PvP game. This one open zone that, the abyss, where only more skilled players would win against me. Not like in SWTOR, where it's only equipment. Only those blasted lightsabers +10. Not to mention the CC lasting for a quadrillion of seconds. Also, everyone has CC but me. And the moment I switch to the OP class, it is immediately nerfed. I think I am cursed.

It's a themepark.

I don't even know that that is supposed to mean, but it's a bad thing. It's apparently the opposite of sandbox. Or was it a zoo? Anyway, SWTOR is like linear and stuff. I can't go and kill newbies at their spawn point, climb the mountaintops and dragon-shout at passing birds. Now that would be fun. Like that one MMO with the arrow in the knee. Instead, I am forced to do places in sequence and go where the developers want me to go and not a step further. Even KotOR was better. And that other MMO. At least that's what my "happy shiny - in the past, everything was better" brain-section keeps telling me.

Space combat is bad.

I expected fleet management, and my personal escort wing of those funny ships that look like an X. And space I can actually freely fly around in. All I got was a minigame. And since the minigame is not what I wanted, I hate it. I wanted SWG 2 and all I got was Starfox. It makes the game bad when it does not live up to the hype. Did I mention that the world will be a better place after Guild Wars 2 released? Provided we survive the lethal solar flare in December 2012, that's the game I will play for the rest of my life. It will be so great! Also, it will have underwater combat. That implies submarines, blue-green lasers and those supersonic torperdoes the Russians developed a while back.

Why did I write all this? What's the point?

I want all of you - the entire internet - to know how bad SWTOR is. It's not merely my opinion. It's a fact. I played all the MMO's, beginning with Alexander the Great's conquest of the known world and Meridian 66 up to Perfect World and Beach Volleyball Online. I know everything. I am infallible. I want you to feel confirmed in your own hatred. You, who hates SWTOR like an ulcer on your private parts. You, who keeps telling the world how it has failed. You, who keeps saying that all the servers are empty (and they have to be, since you are not logging in any more).

Nurture your hatred. It's good for your health. And now off with you; go write this post about how much The Secret Realm of Evercraft was/is/will be the best MMO ever. I think I will play a little SWTOR later on. Or Skyrim. Or maybe I will read a book. You know, whatever hobby a person may enjoy. I will inform you if the book is bad, don't worry.

Poking & prodding us into writing what has already been said more than 10,000 times (SWTOR is Bad) has simply gotten tiresome to read let alone write.

I wish more people on this forum shared this opinion.

all threads now must be about GW2, until it comes out in a year or 2. It is the new religion.

hello there, i just game from gw2 forums and saw few hours ago this topic about gw2 being really horrible and the whole thread got deleted in matter of seconds, maybe admins are deleting them to prevent flame wars :P i dont have anything against swtor, i actually hope it does well ... peace

  • camil82camil82 Member UncommonPosts: 50

    to the OP:

first off all you are writing this thraed just for fun to amuse yourself and not because of critics for the game, its obivious someone just needs to read it and its all clear.

second you are just trolling around because you dont have nothing better to do, i would say get a real life.

from all i can see you probally go from one game to other and do the same things like on this thread.

Impossible.  They only delete negative threads about TOR because they are TOR fanboys.  Why would they delete negative threads of a different game?  ANET or NCSOFT must be paying them off.

OP, why did you use a / instead of a space in the title?
  • nyxiumnyxium Member UncommonPosts: 1,345

The dark side of the force is weak today, less hate.

Ha ha, thats good post dude. Because they do not play swtor servers are empty, well my server is full and my guild have 240 members. Always 70-80 online. Empire fleet station have same number of players like before. Because they do not play--thats the right word. And wow servers was empty 4-5 years ago, and why? Because they do not play. We know who they are, right :)

A strawman argument? Really? I shouldn't be surprised that that's the best defense swtor can muster.

There's simply too much there to even dig into, but special mention goes to the clearly well thought out idea that those criticizing Swtors total lack of innovation expect innovation in how people interact with their keyboards, rather than in game mechanics - or essentially any area that would make this game an exciting alternative to the shallow 7 year old game they mimicked (and still failed to produce something that functioned well).

    Classy.

Y'know... I get an email sent to me for using the word 'dense' in a post, and troll bait threads like this are allowed to flourish.

    Confuses me.

(no doubt I will get another one for this post, while the thread is untouched, but ho hum)

Keep telling yourself SWTOR is a good mmo, your eyes will open soon enough like many before you.

SWTOR is nothing more then a poor Starwars IP that could have conquered the world, but decided to copy as much from WoW as posible before they sold the beta release as a retail game.

Not going to bother all the flaws that are affected in SWTOR, but people that played High Qaulity games / mmo's already saw the disasters and abonded ship.

Playing Free to Play Aion with Veteran status and have 10x more fun then i had in my 2 months on SWTOR....

Sorry but that bubble your living in will be bursted soon enough.

This is the fallacy in thinking.  You talk about the MMO genre like it begins and ends with WoW.  Sorry to burst your bubble, but the whole genre has certain common elements to it that have remained pretty steady since EQ1.  The game is not a WOW clone.  It's an MMO.  If you frustration is of certain elements of the genre, then so be it.  But don't call a game a failure because it for the most part stays within those genre's constraints.
