Ripper, you are way too cheery.

I wish you would have gone over more on the UI and the general gamplay feel.  When I did the beta, I felt the UI and gamplay was that of the late 90s era, but it also felt clunky and cumbersome.

The only good part about the game is how the scenery looks and the bouncing boobs and the fact that a G-String gives as much protection as full plate armor.

The game's development is by a western company, but at its core it is a Korean MMO much like Aion.  While the developers may have some freedom to change things, they still have to get permission from overseas to do something major.

I will be passing on this game.

Interestingk I think teh UI is excellent. So minimal.

The only thing I would like is the abillity to move that mini map to the side.

Other than the terrible story and cheesy cut-scenes, this game is fantastic. It completely caught me offguard. Perhaps I'm just used to that SWTOR co'op, but playing Tera made me feel like I'm playing a MMO again.

Ripper, I love your reviews. TERA online just looks blah to me...I'm sure it would be fun at first but get boring fast, it also looks too much like a F2P MMO, I'll be passing on this one as well...

The game seems awesome but this g-string armor and pre-teen girl creepy stuff is really making me hesitant about getting this game.

Really dont understand why that stuff needs to be in a computer game. Koreans really think that adds something to a high fantasy game?

On the contrary, THIS is why I'm getting into the game.

Heh this game is a paedophile dream after all. The female characters look ridiculous, catering to boys much ?

Art style and design of characters, weapons ( size ?! ), armour ( G-String armour ?! ) and mobs scream of totally alien art and culture. Quest system stinks of a typical Asian grinder as well.

I just find this game at times disgusting ( child porn ), misogynistic in general, tasteless and not appealing at all. And yeah panda race ?

Does it have to offer anything else then a different ( it is not like I haven't seen it before ) then main stream combat system ?

Omg guys grow up. The game is no "pornographic" than Lineage II.

And the Elin race in the game actually has lore to go along with the popori. They don't have sex or anything like that because they are born from nature and not by conventional means. The popori are their guardians not their "pedo bears" lol

This game is amazing, combat, story quests, dungeons, pvp. All fun. It's more than worth a try. It's a beautiful game inside and out and all MMO players should at least give it a chance. I've been beating up big ass monsters for a while now =]

    Monster Hunter since '04!
    Currently playing: MHW & MHGU

The questing is a little lame. But the combat is fun. PVP is a blast. Did a lot of guild War in the last beta and had a blast. Dungeons are fun. I played a Tank and had to pay attention to what the boss was doing. If the boss took a swing at me I had to dive out of the way. Swing behind him for more damage. What can I say, not perfect but new feel to it, Fast pace combat, and what’s important I had fun.

If you are talking about the rather large mini-map with the transparent background then you can. You need to switch to mouse mode which allows you drag things around wherever you want them.

The Mercs doing what they do best, ganking unguilded solo players. :)

  • plescureplescure Member UncommonPosts: 397

lol. you'd think with a name like "ripper x" he would sound a little foreboding, dark or aggressive. You should be called "jolly j" or something

If someone is talking in general chat in a language you dont understand, chances are they're not talking to you. So chill out and stop bitching about it!

I've played it and he's right.  The combat is not smooth or fluid.  Standing still to cast instants and mouse click spam...great fun.  The UI looked like a FTP game, the limited armor choices were odd.  And the graphics are definitely not the end all be all as some are making it out to seem.  The questing is dull.  Need I go on?

I think you and I have been playing a different game. The combat is both smooth and fluid. Of course you need to adjust to not having tab targets, to have your character animations dictate your timing and not a GCD and to adjust for collision detection. The UI was very well done, a minimalistic approach that is also followed by TSW and GW2. The graphics are by far the most impressive in any MMO today, no exception. You can argue that you don't like the art direction, but the game engine is smooth and the graphics are amazing, especially considering this is a seamless MMORPG. Questing is your average MMROPG questing, nothing amazing but nothing out of the ordinary either.

    Opinions, everyone got one.

    The MMO for pedophiles everywhere.

    Playing: PO, EVE
    Waiting for: WoD
Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO
Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

Under your line of logic we are all psychotic murderers, having killed thousand upon thousands with no remorse at all. And all these games are virtual playgrounds for stripping any emotions from the killing process.

Or perhaps we can acknowledge that there is a cultural difference, when all the games coming from the east offer both furry and lolli races, among other things.

I'd rather wait to hear when GW2 is coming out before throwing my money at this potentially throw away game.

  • umcorianumcorian Member UncommonPosts: 519

What a beautiful looking game that seems like it's gameplay will be absolutely top notch.

    Just like Aion did.

Thanks, but gonna hold out for the 2-3 month in reviews on this one. Haven't seen a game from Korea that hasn't been a total grindfest. I'm not gonna be fooled this time. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, etc, etc

  • XasapisXasapis Member RarePosts: 6,337

I don't know. If you don't like an rpg from Bioware, you'll stop buying from Bethesda?

Oh, I get it, it's country based. So, I've been disappointed by Cryptic ... there goes all the US based MMORPG companies, right? I guess I got Funcom to fall back to though, hehe.

You are right... the UI from the 90s is more advanced. Thanks for correcting me.

rofl, I thought the female characters LOOKED bad, now to see them in motion at char creation, they move like they are in front of a stripper pole, what a friggin joke.

  • PivotelitePivotelite Member UncommonPosts: 2,145

God this upsets me so much...people see character creater and base the whole game on that. It's such a good game. :[

Also whoever complains about the UI, you have more customization than I have seen in any game right off the bat.

Resize every piece of the UI individually, add more spots to your userbar individually, remap each one to whatever key, you can move any piece individually wherever you want.

That is without any sort of addon, right from the settings menu.
