Sounds good, and I did enjoy Aion... but I'm thinking it's going to be too little too late.
But, But, But this game was so awesome and was the WoW killer. Now they cant even get subscriptions so have to give it away.

They say that about all games released last few years lol. TOR was to be a WOW killer also, didnt quite get there.
Problem is all the games feel, look, play, and experience the same way now because they are trying to copy WOW. Once a game like Archeage for example comes out, its new to many (not old timers), has tons more features, has every aspect of real life in a mmo., and so much more................it might change the market.

After seeing what happened to the Lineage 2 servers when they went F2P, people will be there and it will be packed.. Not sure what this means for TERA, since the games are graphically similar.. Guess it just comes down to how the player prefers to fight..
Personally, I'm interested in TERA for the combat style and the political system. The art styles are very similar, but doesn't have any bearing on my interest.

Despite its faults, Aion is the one game I always come back to. It has always been a solid game and 3.0 will bring a lot of great changes. New dungeons, fortress, mounts and player housing to name a few.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Thank you thank you thank you!
there isnt IP-block on gameforge servers right?
makes sense that USA aion is going f2p too.
Am I correct in saying it's ftp but with a lvl 40 limit ?
And returning players (probably with lvl 55 characters) get ftp just for 2 weeks?
lol go to website and read the game gonna be totally free ,im really not suprise knowing alrdy lot of p2p games going to die whit the coming of gw2
Ah, I went to the Aion site.
But as i'm in England I went to the EU (UK) site - and ran into a NCfail hate storm on the forums about the EU getting shafted again.
Seems to be that this is only US at the moment, although I can't seeing it staying that way, as EU players will just switch to the US servers.

Considering that GW2 is coming out from the same parent company, doesn't it make more sense that NCsoft is converting all their games into the GW2 model?

Thats european model.
The NCSOFT version Aion "Truly Free" will be in every way similar to their L2 "Trully Free"
No limitations at all.

if it is like what they did with L2, it'll be great.
it's at least in the ballpark of the turbine systems regarding f2p systems if not even better.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

I dont think you could be more clueless if you tried.
So basically this is Buy To Play now since the free trial only goes to 40? Hey I'm down with that!
They burnt their bridge with me, with probably the worst customer support I have experienced in any game. Even free won't get me to try it again.
And it is not even close to Turbine's design. How you could even imagine that is beyond me.

The 40 limit is only for the event before it goes F2P officially.
Coolest Game ever! Nothing else out there holds my attention like this one. They all fail misserably next to this one. Thank you Korea.
Haha, Id say some more nails on TERAs coffin ...
They'll likely release it just a few weeks after TERA and abuse it as free advertisement when most people are through with all of TERAs bits of content and bored. Now after SWTOR and WoW the most popular MMORPG goes F2P to reboost its success and take a second dump on those numerous P2W/pay-real-content F2P wannabes. L2 took the first one as an almost decade old game.
Aion could have easily continued for 4-5 years before reaching the same state as L2 when it was still P2P, if not longer. I dont know how but even when it was effectively just one month L2s revenues where boosted by more than +3 Million $ after its Western F2P release. Thats +30% they made in the West in general before it. They apparently dont want to wait for the big cash from Aion. Rather turn a stable P2P game into a even more successful F2P one. They have the numbers. Why care for some fearmonger/other games fans trying to throw it into the pot of games that turned F2P because they failed and couldnt survive anymore?
NCSofts "Truely free" appears to turn out much more profitable than it sounds. People seem to be fed up with paying 50 bucks for a gamebox, another 50 for some neccessary expansionpacks and then even monthly fees just to try the real game and then realize they where ripped off, blended by hype and ads, fooled by paid reviews, fooled by their friends and wasted their money on a boring subpar game. Thats where "truely f2p" gives player the opportunity to test the game (not just a little glimps of it) and when you realize its good enough, continue and invest into all kind of extras.
But certainly GW2 payment model plays a major role either.
Though gameforges" free = full access but slow motion progress" was probably more safe to ensure stable revenues from effectively goldsubscription instead of the shop. But there never where any gamebreaking items before (and dont come at me with this joke calling temporary supplements sales "gamebreaking", those are far from gamebreaking if even noticeable) so its still open if anything of that sort will happen.
Just throwin in: Remember all the cries about "ZERG WINS!"? Now ... how could this game ever become "pay2win" anyway as some hater already call for, when the numbers are supposed to win? Numbers in a free to play game! => My social/leading skills >>>>>> Your money for (nonexistant) pay2win items Irony of fate how past bitching about the game now destroys the haters newest plans.
