OK. Let's keep this topic focused on the ads at MMORPG.com and not on what Americans or Europeans or any other area of the world is interested in doing. :)

I am going to lock this temporarily until I have an official word to get back to you with. Thanks!

We use up to 4 different ad networks to fill ads that we don't sell directly.  This banner is not one that I sold directly, as it would have been rejected.

The trick is I have to see the ad in person in order to know which network  is serving the banner then track them down to shut it off.

If you want to help out, when you see this ad - do a "view page source" on the web page and email this to me as an attachment to [email protected].

    Thanks,

    Craig McGregor

All right. Word from on up is that we've figured out which network was serving these ads here and we've put in the request for these particular ads to stop being shown.

    Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Being a former SWG player I find the TOR ads highly offensive, any chance we can get rid of them too?

Judging from the reactions we should get some male models in the background with thier penis's in half shadowed state of undress.  Because a half obscured sexual organ is not bad in these guys eyes.  And to all you people saying that he should do better parenting. I believe that is what he is trying to do here  What is wrong with holding a company accountable for what they show on the internet. You think the minute you set foot on a computer you lose all rights to what your eyes should see?  I find it entirely acceptable to complain about a company that starts to shove sex at you the minute they start to lose some money that they get from ads. It reeks of desperation and no class.

Edit: And I suppose I should read the entire thread to see if the topic has been delt with by the higher ups. /slinks away

Yes, it is a poor decision, and yet the site has no problem with using obscenities and it seems the concerned parents have no issue with their children reading them. I mean seriously the title of this thread has an an acronym for "what the fuck"

The difference is that if he gets off his lazy ass and monitor his children hands on, only his family will be affected by his decision. That's win win, his kids don't see the ads and the rest who don't care won't have to put up with censorship.

I am a male citizen of a nation that trains people to not even make eye contact with a female who is under the age of 18, on pain of being percieved as a pervert and a criminal.  Can you get rid of all these asian ads that portray scantily clad young girls in seductive poses?  I find them offensive.

That is what he is actually writting in his OP is he not? That is what he is doing he however find it shamefully it has to be this way and used this thread to make it know in the part called site suggestion. The part where devs could read threads and decided if they agree of not.

Actually your the one trying to censor him. He simply is using the forums they way they suppose to be used. Creating threads in there rigtfull place and discuss them. You on the other hand believe he should not do this because it's not what you want.

I understand the OP. This is not simply a picture of a nipple (or it shadow) it's a woman trying to seduce the viewer. Clearly not porn and people claiming kids should see it so not to objectify woman are fooling themselves. That is actually what the image is doing. It does not matter to me though, but it really does not matter to me either if the advertisement is gone. They really do not work with me and never press a ad like that myself. Clearly the game is not good enough to advertise on it own merits.

  • LowcaianLowcaian Member Posts: 265

I don't give a fuck if the ad is there or not. How about the guns that are so  prominently displayed in so many ads? I bet that if they had been the object of his displeasure no action would have been taken.

Eye Candy sells products. Some ads go long lengths to ensure the snare of atleast a click, yet alone a sign up.So you protest Victoria Secret and JC Penny for showing ads with people wearing a bra as a product? Don't get me wrong, I don't support adult only content, I support freedom of speech and expression. Don't like the ad, sure you can post and complain, but to get to the point where your complaints rule the internet or forum? No, now you should be protested for complaining and hurting my eyes.

I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun.

    100% agree - bad parenting.

Also this is the internet, if you don't like what your seeing or your children are viewing, block the site.

      Absolutely THIS!

Our values are SO screwed up, it isn't funny.  That nipple should be the LAST thing people should be worried about their kids seeing.  If people were a little more open about sex - we wouldn't have the problems we do now.

Perhaps. But thats not the real issue here imo. Human sexuality is normal and a healthy topic to discuss. But what I am seeing on these ads is not human sexuality. It is the objectification of women to make money. Which is basically pornography by definition.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

  • momodigmomodig Member UncommonPosts: 555

Danny if you don't like the real issue don't look at it or surf the web - it's part of life I'm afraid... freedom of choice/expression.

one thing is certain. the best way to impact positive change and be taken seriously is to exaggerate the problem, and fail to describe the problem accurately.

    /sarcasm off.

non-nude suggestive fantasy images are not porn of any kind.   making them out to be worse than they are will only get you laughed at.

These woman sell themselves and profit from that objectivity, acting as though they're victims is ridiculous IMO.

no, it also seems to get a serious response from the site administrators, god help us all if any adverts depicting violence or criminal acts appear. I saw one with gangsta in the title, please can these be banned as I let my young children surf this site unattended and it is not appropriate for them.

I'm not going to run away from the internet just because exploitation exists. I'll stick around and call it out. Freedom of choice/expression goes both ways :)
