Your right, I have no idea why USA has such an issue with nudity.

On the other hand sex sells and developers know that, so the more appealing a developer can make its female characters, the better chance it has to catch the eye of a teen boy whos hormones are raging through the roof. This isnt changing anytime soon. Ive never understood the appeal to pixelated characters if a guy wants to look at something there are plenty of free web sites that offers pictures and videos of the real thing.

Its like why do guys play with female characters? I dont see why, i dont get it. I am pretty sure that I dont want to know why.  I see people say "who want to look at a guys butt all day long." and i just want to say whos playing a game to look at butts all day long? Its a game its not porn.

It's nothing like why people of one gender play a character of another gender.  That's another topic entirely.

It's as much amusing as it is sad, It's good to set a standard reguardless otherwise one add leads to yet another more daring ad and so on until all dignity is lost.

I myself get more irritaded by this trend of the "less" you wear equals the "more" defence and power etc. I prefer my warrior chicks wearing lots of armor like the males. On another note I'd like to say that it's entirely unfare that females get to have high stat/bonus gear with only a fraction of the weight a male does... what's up with that.. Lets just imagine a game experience logging into a game like that.  A practical system where all the buff guys are wearing skimpy armer like the chicks, less weight, sweat and time gearing up and most important when it's time to use the outhouse .. yeah less time doing the hoppy dance while fumbling around with zippers and buckles. :)

I hope you all had a great mental picture on that one.

no its not there are some common areas involved. When you see female characters running around with no gear on, its no different than advertising with half naked characters.

    Friggin bible belters.

I could care less regarding the advertisements on this site or what they portray, but I think it's pretty narrow minded to assume that an individual is a "bible belter" because they don't agree with certain depictions or variations of nudity.

There have been some good adverts to complain about regarding suggestive imagery, these are not it.

Hell the imagery in these is what we see for over half the f2p games.   Only difference is in these the girls don't look 11.

Stop looking to censorship as an answer to laziness.

Agreed completely. Better parenting is a great answer. Asking for companies to censor themselves is a not so great answer. If something is offensive to you, deal with it yourself. Don't deal with it for everyone else too.

Absolute rubbish - both of you. Your arguments are weak and misguided.

Avatars are like barbie dolls.  Even when they are supposedly naked, they still have bra and panties with the exception of Age of Conan and Mortal Online.  Not sure if there are other mmos with actual nudity.

Personally, I don't have a problem with nudity.  I am a realistic figurative artist, so I've worked with nude male and female models quite a bit.  People confuse nudity with sex, just like sometimes people confuse the gender of an avatar with some kind of sexual preference or dishonesty.  One has nothing to do with the other.  The human body is beautiful.

I dont want to make this a personal attack on the OP but honestly its people like you thats  wrong with this world,  You are so worried about at tackey advertisment that you decided to post in this forum for only 8 times in a few years,

So how about you climb back in your hole you came from and go do something useful like save the trees and let parents worry about there own kids rather than you telling them what they should and should not see.

Parenting doesn't require 24/7 monitoring. Part of parenting is teaching your children how to avoid content of which you disapprove. Another part would be to block any websites you feel necessary to block. There are other things a parent could do as well.

Sure, parents can rely on society somewhat for help in safeguarding easily accessibly media, but what bothers many parents doesn't bother many others. Therefore the far better option is for the parents to handle these problems themselves, rather than force their values onto everyone else. This is especially true in a society like ours where opinions on this issue will vary greatly.

Also, the ads have been like this for years as far as I can remember.

IMO this is a poor decision by MMORPG  to continue the downward trend of allowing adverts that are bordeline pornography.

Porn is fantastic. What is the problem?

One should not use the "I'm offended" card to form an agenda.

I agree 100%. And I am an american and a parent.

Funny how people get bent over things like this, but I bet it would be fine if it was a Call of Duty advert with someone being gunned down in the street. But the dreaded nudity ( shudders ) ... might turn the kids into something crazy... violence = just fine, nudity= the debil....

I applaud your stand on this. I myself don't pay attention to the adverts, but I wouldn't want my young child looking at it either. I unsubscribed from PCgamer because they started placing adamandeve.com adverts in their magazines. Imagine the young children that read that magazine and go to that website out of curiosity.

You are beating a dead horse by bringing your concerns here though. Here you will get the hecklers that will give you the "old codger" and "Their going to see it eventually" comments. I myself have shielded my son from those things and he has turned out to be a fine young man that will be going to the Marines this next spring. He may go hog wild when he leaves home, but he knows that his parents raised him with honor and dignity.

    I salute you

Welcome to mmorpg.com newcomer.  Funny it shows you being a part of this community since '07.  Did it take you 4 years to load the page?  This isn't anything new for this site.

I saw a report about this once - the old question of why violence is considered ok but nudity isn't.

To sum it up the violence is tolerated because the right to carry a gun in the USA is considered a deeper sign of freedom. Republican thinking that origins in the wild west or something they said.

Nudity isn't ok in the USA since the church has a much greater political influence than in it does in Europe and the church is quick to forbid anything sex-related.

Yes... because honor and dignity are definitely lost because of nudity!

Why are your kids coming to a mmorpg site anyways?  Don't they have better things to be doing.  Like schoolwork?  Yard work? Anything?

What happens when your kids get into these mmorpgs?  You think they're gaining valuable life skills in an mmorpg?  Do you monitor them while they play?  Do you turn the game off when someone runs up to them and says **** *** or something similar?

Simply put... keep your kids away from mmos in general if you have such an issue with this.  Now if that doesn't make perfect sense to you or anyone else that feels the same way.... go get yourselves checked... sumting wong!

    The craziness is overwhelming.

This is a lowering on advertising standards by MMORPG, whether you agree or not, this will start to affect their readership numbers by parents who will inevitably steer their kids away from this website.  Others may be drawn to it because of the fact but MMORPG needs to draw a line at some point otherwise it won't be computer games that its best known for...

so instead of seeing some cleavage you would rather young kids seeing some mad man standing there with a sword holding someones severed head in there hand. or kneeling down next to a ammo box reloading there sub machine gun? quite frankly i would rather my son seeing tits and ass then seeing some of the groteck, violent images thats are common place in todays games. why dont you do us all a favor and jump off of that high horse your standing on. dont break anything on the way down.

You know what I do when I see an annoying add?

I block it with my browser (Opera). Fast and simple, and if your kids go onto the site they will see "Add blocked", few kids would bother to unblock it because if they want some nudity then real nudity is just a click away on the web.

But I never seen any add here that is even close to any kind of porn, there are plenty of ladies wearing less cloth in the summer than anything I seen here.

If you actually get worried about a few adds with scantily clad women on you shouldn't let them get even close to the internet at all, because, trust me on this, they will see a lot worse things than a few Evony (or whatever) adds.

  • Soki123Soki123 Member RarePosts: 2,558

They ll see alot worse, or better, however you look at it, walking down the street, or at the mall. Why so worried, block out the site or the internet for that matter until you can be around, if it bothers you so much.

My son doesn't like gaming. He is a workout nut that thinks that I am wasting my life playing games.

Sorry for having an opinion. I don't care how others raise their kids. I just know that at the end of the day I can say that I raised my son the best that I could.
