Haters is this corner v. fans in this corner

OK, so I've seen a million threads (Thats an estimate) and look at the negative and the positive in their threads.  This isn't a thread to rehash whether you like SWTOR or hate it, but to ask who do you think is making their presence more felt.  Who do you think is winning the community PR war, who do you think is using the best arguments to state their case.  I imagine this will end up being a 'haters think that they are making the best argument and fans that they are making the best argument, argument' but I would like for people to try to be objective.

Maybe those of you who may like it or dislike it, but aren't at the extreme end.

I'm just curious.  I read a lot of threads on various games, and they do sometimes sway me to try a game or not try one.  Not always, but it does influence my decision when I am on fthe fence.  A good example of this is MO.  Clearly the haters out argued the fans.  Thus I haven't tried the game and seeing whether the comments/threads take a turn.

For SWTOR,  I have enjoyed the few hours of play that i've had.  As far as who is winning the PR war, I believe it to be the hater side.  For some reason, their ravings are sticking with me louder than the ravings of the fans.

Your thoughts

lol, thought this one might be a little different.  guaging the persuasivness of the arguments as opposed to the arguments themselves.

    Simply put.

It does not matter, I will get to try it this weekend and will make my own conclusion and decision, independently of who "wins" this...whatever it is...petty competition for opinions.

ummm So... Why isn't this in the Tor thread since it's Kinda about TOR.. Do ya see, I say do ya see what I'm talkin about boy? Besides It's the hater and Fanboy community that push PR for a game. Not one or the other. More people wind up checking out a game due to its contreversy, they want to see if it's as bad, or as good as people say it is. They will base there information about that. Just look at WOW for example you have an equal amount of people bashing it (and still play it............) and you have it's fan base that thinks it's the greatest invention since the planet Earth.... Both Sides Promote the game one way or the other through bad publcity and good publicity, Heres another example Movie wise, Look at how popular Twilight is, Now look away, now look at it again, now look away, now look back WOAH! It's female fanbase just quadrupled within that second.. It's male hate fanbase did the same, the movie, Gets the most immense PR for it. Another one, AVATAR... Reviewers originally panned the movie expect for it's visual effects. The Sci-Fi fanbase Blew it up! Everyone went to see that MotherFucker, wether because it was talked about by friends, made a promo on Bones, or because they wanted to see it's awesome 3D affects. In the end It's PR that people made that wound of making these things successfull. The same vs Old Star wars (which was better :P) Vs new star wars. It's younger fan base Promoted it, it's older fan base Panned it. Either way people went to see it, old and young.

Thats all for my rant today :P

I guess I failed as a thread creator.  It was meant more of a brain excersise in seeing what people think about all of the threads, then ... bah, I don't know how to say it.  More of an academic look at the process.... more of ... I don't know.  I guess I was just wondering.

People who don't like swtor, or who felt their expectations were let down, are usually the ones that are bored with mmorpg genre altogether. They expected something different, something new, something that would invade their brain and left them amazed :)

There are quite a lot of such people, frustrated with MMOs and that's probably why it gives you the feeling, that the haters are winning in this battle.

The people who like swtor are usually the ones that weren't expecting anything new and like their WoW type mmorpgs.

And by the way, i wouldn't agree that haters are on the winning side. I think i saw more positive posts than negatives.. And most of the people who like swtor, they just play it and don't post on forums at all. Forums are for haters like me :)

Its the reality that kills the Hype.  We have all seen so many releases the past couple of years with such promise and have failed to deliver on those promises.

Right now i'm just worried about how to cancel the damn preorder.

But try it for yourself, everyone has different expectations and tastes.

    Ok, as a brain exercise....

I was expecting the controversy ever since Bioware announced that they are making an MMO focussed on story and addopting the Themepark Model. I knew that the fanbase when the moment came would be very polarized.

Yet, It really does not matter what we think, all this is a result of choices that Lucas Arts and Bioware made in develloping this title. Now they simply have to live with these choices.

    Que sera sera!
