Yes thats gotta be it everyone...  Notorious Games are secretly scamming all of us and that is why they have such slow updates, and inplementing things into the game. *sarcasm

Hint* (Theres Only 16 core people working on the game, and the rest contributers.)

    100% not a scam.

If it were a scam they wouldnt be refunding.

The devs are just lacking focus, and afraid to do what they planned. They also have big dreams that take time to put into play.

    Agree, 100% not a scam.

But 100% a company with no vision of what direction they want their game to take, the resources or ability to elevate this game from its current state of incompleteness and a game that has been 100% of letdown.

Potential is great but you should not charge $15 a month for it.

P.S. Hi Mr DDT. Enjoy your posts over at the official forums. Keep up the good fight!

    It is a scam

They say they will refund if you ask them, but when you ask for a refund they tell you they aren't going to.The "we will refund" is just bullshit so people on the fence make the purchase thinking "if it sucks i'll get a refund".

I asked for my refund not because the game "sucked" but because based on the info on their site what they were selling me was not what they explained the game to be. I explained the issues with the game, and how misleading the screenshots and writeups about the game on the site were. I then asked politly for my refund I did everything following their post about "refunds",

And I basically got a "we don't care, and atleast we got some of your money" kind of response.

    DO NOT BUY!

I hate these fricken forums, I come to the site for some news and I saw this forum topic in the header.

I made an effort to go out of my way, reset my forgotten password, and login. Just to post this warning to others. If people are saying it's not a scam it's because they are trying to sucker others into paying so they might actually see somone else online in this "mmo". Or they are one of the lucky few who actually got a refund.  It's smart refund a few people randomly so it seems legit. Then frack over the rest who were dumb enough to buy a game that can't even be realisticly considered to be in "ALPHA"

In other words, would creating all the work for fake, be cheaper than doing it for real? Especially considering that if they set out to fool people, they would be discovered at some point and risk law suits. It also assumes that all the staff and investors were in on this scheme and failed to leak information as to its falsity.

Occam's razor would suggest a simpler theory, that they wanted to do all these things for their stated reasons, but failed to do it well.

Sounds good in theory but look no further than that Cheyenne Mountain entertainment fiascal. There is i think without any argument, people out there looking to scam investors by pretending to puit out a legit product. When using other peoples money, you have almsot nothing to lose, again proven by the Cheyenne guy who ripped many people off many times, yet investors kept coming. He was also brought to court ,and i am still not sure if anything happened to him legally.

If i had to give an opinion on this gaem, i would say it started out as a great idea, but as so many find out,it takes way more work than originally thought. This is nothing new, happens everyday in real life, this is why companies overbid to allow for extras time, mistakes unforseen problems ect ect.

If i was to create a game i thought worthy of my name on it,i would need close to 200 million,a staff of around 100-150 and at least 5 years. So whjen i see all these games pushing 2-3-4 years ,low budgets,i know i am getting at best a very average product.

You should email again, and heck I would even like to see the emails you sent and they sent.

I have dozens of friends that ALL got a refund. Some even just said "Hey can I get a refund, the game wasnt what I thought it was"

I'm not telling people to buy the game, just look at my posts you can see that, but people should know what they are getting ito with the game as its posted on these forums, the main forums, and its pretty clear from player videos and other aspects. The company isnt promoting the game.

I think the game will work right now in its current state for a VERY VERY VERY small % of the people looking for a sandbox game. So if someone is ok with all the bugs, the slow updates, and the other major issues this game has, the 40$ might be worth it to them.

I stopped playing for the same reasons you listed. However, I didn't have the heart to ask for a refund. I figured, from the state of the game, they could use the money...  image

It's a bit rich calling it a scam, it's a disaster area at best.

I loved it for about 2 weeks, till I realised that I was actually only stockpiling and building up ready for the release 'Patch' , which promised much, but delivered sweet f.a.

Shame, the guy has great ideas, but the implementation is a lesson in how not to create a piece of publicly available software, never mind a game, never mind an mmo.

Happy to have paid for the fun time I had the weeks before launch (the March 2011 one) , that suddenly wasn't the launch it was the pre-launch or , well, I lost track of what I had paid for.

At one point, while taking 45secs per action due to lag etc. I seriously wondered whether this was a game, or a psychological experiment, really!

If Xsyon had the kind of bankroll that every developing MMO needs it would be a fantastic and finished game.  Tens of millions of dollars, that's what developing these newer AAA games costs now.  The days of the unbacked indy dev might be over for good because of that.  In return, players could at least have access to larger game worlds, more complexity, better graphics, and fewer bugs.  Instead, we keep getting rehash games that yes, do give us better graphics and fewer bugs, but inspire no love for the game world, no sense of adventure, exploration, and freedom.  What a shame.

I still hold out hope that investors are going to get burned on one too many sure thing themeparks and will finally take a look at Xsyon and games like it, both released and still in development.  With the right backing, it truly can offer something for everyone.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

All of them look horrible so I dont see why people buy them.

None of the AAA's would dream of attempting this, reason 1 they have a forumla to follow before investtors, publishers will bother with them, so we have indies who can do these type of games, so we should be happy,  Some of  us who did preorder the game at the start and we know what happening and why the game was unfinished Jordi did not hide anything so saying this game is a joke, its not a scam, was it unfinshed yes.

Jordi was always up front, we could of canceled any time we wanted I know many that did, so for you to sit here and say this and not give a reason is a joke, the game was far from a` scam, jordi has/had a vision and one day it will be done, he patches every other day, and he is always upfront, most companys are not.

Indies do not have the funding that AAA's do, but AAA,s will never ever attempt games like Xsyon, Mortal online, and DFO, etc.So until we give indies a break we will continue to see people claim games are a scam. Anyone who claims this has no idea how to make any game and what is all involved, I used to think this somewhat to, until I went to school for Game design, now I see what is all involved and how much worth they put in , with little return. Some people can't handle sandbox's , so I suggest sticking to WOW, and Age of Conan, style games, since they follow the forumla, look even SWTOR followed it, because they never would of got the funding they needed if they didn't, other wise they would of made a sandbox, like SWG fans wanted...

To thePoster above me , no indies you will start seeing them make better games, if they stop making there own engines, Unity  is becoming a great engine, and its free for indies up to 200k, then UDK, you can use for free up to 50k, so these games need to stop making there own engines, the time is over for indies making there own engines, and using stuff that is giving free that is good, Hero engine, SWTOR is using is also now free up to I think 50k, could be more not sure as I do not use it.

But schools push these engines because there free and good engines, alot of good titles where made with UDK, people like to bash some of these engines, well learn how to use them before you do. So its getting better for indies.

It's funny to come back to a game thread months after you stopped playing the game to see how things have progressed.  Still the same old SNAFU I see.

I wouldn't call them a scam, just delusional thinking a small (really small) team could make a game as rich as they hoped that would even compete with the other small titles like Fallen Earth and Darkfall.

Wasn't ready at launch - this should be a lesson to all of us by now.  It's almost unreal how many times we hear "it'll be ready in a big patch on ______ or just after launch!" when in reality, all they're doing is buying time to gather your money before 99% of the developers out there stop caring or bothering.  As was clearly the example here.

It's called a honey pot.  We all should've known better.  Hopefully the remaining curious public don't fall into the same trap.

HAha it's funny isn't it?... When things are going so great in the game and everything is improving a lot, an "old player" come here to throw some shit over a game he "forgot" time ago..clap clap clap....TROLLS ARE COMMING AGAIN!!! hahah

Go to play the game a bit to see that "all that money" they took it's been well invested in make a great an unique an evolving  game.

You can say I'm a fanboi but take a look at new players comments ...
