The Secret World: The Secret War Experience Delayed

Funcom, citing technical difficulties, has decided to postpone the first phases of The Secret World's beta sign ups. There is not any mention of when The Secret War will begin and when players can start signing up for beta access. We'll keep you posted!
Due to technical difficulties we have decided to postpone the first phase of the Secret War experience and the beta registration until further notice.
We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused those of you who had taken time to visit our website on August 26th to sign up for the beta and take part in the first phase of The Secret War. We will be working relentlessly to make sure the experience and the beta registration are up as soon as possible.

Well, i dont wonder after the Age of Conan release. Me and my friends renamed them into
No-Funcom...

Shit happens, stuff gets delayed. Nobody needs to get their knickers in a twist about this.
They were pretty quick to post the broken clock graphic on the webpage. It doesn't make much sense to me but I'm just saying.

P.S: The delay has also been picked up by the Council of Venice, who are already on the case!
A few of my friends are excited about this game in general, but Ive always been... but it's Funcom, maybe 6months after launch.
This kind of thing is why.
If you have a look at their forums/facebook/twitter you will see it hasn't been delayed at all, its part of the ARG (alternate reality game) they are running.
As hopeful as I am about this game, Failcom is just showing how hopeless they can be sometimes. I am not at all surprised that they can't even figure out how to do a beta signup and event without messing every aspect of it up. And to top it all off, they were giving away beta access to those who spammed their forums the most.
I am still planning on at least giving this game a shot, but Failcom is not helping their image with repeated screwups to even a beta signup.
I dont see why you ppl are bashing funcom for this, if anything I aplaud them for taking the secure route and trying to make the game very presentable, if anything they only learned with their AoC bugfest launch.

Rather they do this and get it right rather than reinforce their less than stellar reputation.
This is what I suspect as well.
- I have played Everquest, DAOC, Shadowbane, WoW, Aion, Rift, SW Galaxies, Planetside and Guild Wars (all expacs)
If it is, it's an incredibly bad idea. Justified or not, Funcom has a reputation for bad launches due to Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. Other MMO failures and the success of Rift have really shown you need to have everything running smoothly in order to succeed with a new MMO.
If they wanted to do an ARG for beta access, I think that's a great idea, but spell it out. Say something like, "The Council of Venice (or whatever) offers this riddle to new initiates." It's obvious it's an ARG and people eat that up.
Now you've got half the people thinking it is an ARG and half the people thinking Funcom dropped the ball again.
If it is an ARG, then putting out a facebook message saying
"The Council of Venice has intervened and are delaying the start of the first phase of the Secret War by four hours. Stay tuned."
and then waiting 29 hours to follow it up with
"Due to technical issues, first phase of the Secret War experience and beta registration is delayed until further notice."
is really sending the wrong message.

It wasn't an ARG. Funcom themselves said it was a techical problem on their forums and at PAX, the only people who think it is are those who have deluded themselves into thinking that way. I find it amusing the amount of people who think this is all on purpose, Funcom might be daft enough but EA know better.

p.s. if to play a game, make a simple dam sing up (what not mean's to have 100% guaranted acept to be beta tester) u need to have fb, tw, forum & other crap place & make hours & hours research on diferite place to get that it is a good move then ok then enjoy u'r "fun"
all this mess what was hapend for a normal person with a normal neuron is perfect clear: "FAIL" i can undestend there was tehnical problem on a company what was never done a product like that at all & is a pioner in industrie but for a ... with history, with background, with experience from previos product came on face it ...
enyway we will see if time will rezolve all problem, mess done & houpe beter time & product will came on market
I'm a fan of Age of Conan, in fact, I still have an active account with it. But to let the fanboy in you lash out with insults towards someone and their opinion is just silly. Age of Conan didn't launch well at all, and is a major reason the game went Free to Play already rather than having a much larget crowd to begin with. Funcom is, as stated, known for their horrible launches. That doesn't mean their games don't recover and become good games, just that they have failed pretty miserably in the past for game launches.
I intend to play this game too, as I am intrigued by it and do still enjoy AoC. But to screw up on your planned and announced beta registration and the event you had planned out to coincide with it, does not bode well for yet another game of theirs. They may make the delays sound like they are all a part of the ARG, but in the end, it's Funcom, and it's technical delays.
As for doing a better job and making a bug free game that you seem to somehow infer that I said in my post, nope, I can't. I'm not a game developer and I don't get paid to be one, but for those who do at Funcom, we'd expect a little work outa them.

Renko, yes, they are playing along with the whole vibe of the game and using some RP'ing, but in the end, read their forum posts. They have stated that it was all delayed due to technical difficulties. Not everything on the internet, especially in an RP game, can be taken at face value.

I agree. I much prefer them to delay and get it right rather than trying to repeat the launch failures of their other games. I know it's in vogue to bash Funcom but come on, they shouldn't be bashed for this.
It could all have been avoided had they announced a delay for the beta sign ups before the counter hit zero. They must have already known that the company making the Facebook app for it wasn't ready and an announced delay would have caused less backlash than letting it get to marked time then delivering repeated "it's broken, we're trying to fix it" messages, especially as they advertised it so loudly.
I really like Funcom and what they try to do with their games but they have given off a certain air of unprofessionalism over the years that many of us now expect from them. Not that it'll stop me from trying the games they release as they are one of the few companies with the chance of pulling a rabbit out of the hat IMO.
I thought I registered for beta when I did the faction test months ago?
Funcom continues to be like the relative that you can never count on for anything.
