    Best Idea Eva!..

You can run to the chest before anyone else and NINJA Loot it.. Right........................!

Stick with the Lootsystem in BETA.. was soo much easy and didnt have to fuss over items..

The only people complaining about Welfare are the retards with no lives.  They play the game like a job (and in many cases, they try to turn it into a job).  Playing upwards of 8 hours a day or more.  These are the same pathetic trash from the shallow end of the gene pool who complain about lack of content because they spent their life on the game.

    {mod edit}

    It's either:

1:  Belonging to a big guild or willing to PUG endlessly.

    or

    2.  Having no family, no job or no girl friend, and no friends or basically no life outside a game.

Making it all worse in most games is going on a big raid with 3 dozen people, taking 4-5 hours or more to do it, and then only 3 people get loot when all is said and done.  That's BS of the highest magnitude, especially when in some games, player manipulation can affect loot drops. Not even mentioning when a tank item drops and a stealther rolls on it.

Bioware is doing the right thing here, and for all you whiners that want to be the only people with epics (which is the ONLY reason you're whining) to f'ing bad.

In this day and age this is certainaly the better of the choices IMO. It may not be perfect in some peoples eyes but, the trouble in games like wow is two fold:

     1. Some kid or worse, an adult with a 12-13 year old mentality, rolls on an item he/she has no use for, can not even equip it and does it just because in there stupidity they think it is neat to deprive a person that can use it of having it.

     2. There are a great number of equally moronic players who just happened to have had the time before you to get the high end gear, they then sit back and act like they did it on there own and refuse to help others. This was another big thing in wow. In most cases these particular mental midgets went in with a friend that was already well geared and they some how think this makes them better then you. These tended to be the idiots that would base hellping you on your gear score, knowing full well they did not get there gear score alone, they want to pass judgment in a most childish fashion.

The reality is that everyone that puts in the time and effort deserves something for there time and due to the above mentioned small minded people the truely deserving rarely get a shot at it.

I completly expect one of these so minded idgets to reply to this with something such as "l2p" or " lack the skills to get it your self ?" or something equally ignorant. To them I say when you get 20 of your friends to help you take out a boss that you can solo IF you knew how to play that is NOT skill.

Glad Bioware is not going to let this type's of fools ruin the game for others.

It is because of this greed that drives people to achieve and earn things, the negative is only when people are so compelled by it that they decided to hurt others just so they can gain their own satisifaction, thats not Greed, thats is call being Selfish, which is what corrupting MMO right now. It is a MMO design fault as much as the players.

No one cares about the player next to you, as far as every player knows, they are there to compete with you, gear, mob, resources and what not. No players like to see anyone in a game, because that only means lesser chance for gear, less mobs to complete quest, less chance of getting quest items. No game has ever done anything about it, at least SWTOR (and GW2) is trying to achieve that player socialisation by removing the competition of gears, the other deciding factor for you obtaining gear is due to a drop rate, not if other players are rolling the same thing as you.

You are just as corrupted, corrupt with pessimism. Nothing is ever a lost cause, unless the person saving it gives up, maybe you are lost cause.

I agree to some degree. I believe the new system is fair and would help solve a lot of issues with player interaction all around. Instead of blaming another player for needing the same item that you've run the same instance 10 times in a row to get, you can be content with the idea that "chance" dealt you what you have received. Blame it on bad luck, not the other players.

I like the idea of 'loot containers'.  If I ever get around to raiding, then at least I get a reward for the time and effort I put into it.  Not everyone has the time to raid every day/week, but even they would like to see some reward for the few times they do have the time.

To all people who dislikes the idea of loot container and likes to make it hard to obtain gear,

Nothing, IN ALL of MMORPG Gaming, is as frustrating as participation without ANY compensation!  It simply shouldn't be that way...

Now the second most annoying thing is defeating a special mob, looking for a particular item, and having it always seem to drop something for some other character / class.

So Overall I have to give BioWare kudos for actually thinking things through in this regard.  Makes me think SWtoR might just be the best MMORPG EVER!!

  • kage71kage71 Member UncommonPosts: 123

It is a nice touch though for a game thats just yet another world of warcraft clone. I mostly agreed with your statements in your post but this one. Did you even study the history of the MMOs you play? Number 1 Star Wars is not a WoW clone. Why you ask? Look up EA games and look up Bioware and look up the lore of Star Wars itself. Number 2 Ultima Online created by EA games in 1997 DaOC  in 2001 yet you would call a company that had all this information on MMOs a WoW clone? Are you serious? Clones would be a company that exact copy from another company yet here we have a company that had all this info dealing with MMOs way longer than blizzard.

Greed is largely a result of nurture not nature. To understand this, one only has to look at more collectivist cultures or look at some smaller tribes, some which have no concept of greed or lesser decrees of it (in comparision to most invidualistic countries in the world, like the US). Greed is a desire that stems from a need to own or possess something, when you take that need away, desire will not exist.

yea I agree, but if you never had that need, we wouldn't be talking on these forums :), you wouldn't be playing mmorpg, are you sure you want to take that need away? I'm assuming you are talking about being Amish or something.

I like the idea did raid for many years in mmos but now i mostly dont have that much time for it anymore. I think their will still be loot fights since i gues the best gear will be drop based anyway from raid bosses etc.

  • AdamaiAdamai Member UncommonPosts: 476

they might aswell just give it to us as level up rewards. as soon as we are high enough level to wear the cool set geers, they should just be instant rewards.  ding lvl 20 and oh look i just got my new armour set.

i play war and i have to admit i hate how the geer system is worked out.. no effort at all... its not even level restricted.. its renown rank restricted.. people will argue that its level restricted but you level so fast your feet barley touch the ground..

as soon as you get one new set of armour and manage to put talismans on them your ready for your next new set of armour and this will go on and on and on all the way untill you reach rank 40.. which is last rank..  it used to be lvl 40 renwon rank 40 but mythic decided that we wasnt grinding enough so they raised the bar to  lvl 40 renown rank 100 lol same shit just a longer grind.

and the only way to earn renown ranks is to pvp. and take it from me.. when you have to grind that much pvp to get a new set of armour!! it gets old very very very fast.

and thus yet another reason why swtor is going be a right gapeing heep of dribbling piss.

im not sure about you guys but has any one else seen the pattern !!!

    EA MYTHIC!!

MYTHIC BIOWARE OR WAS IT BIOWARE MYTHIC

    EA BIOWARE

now you dont have to be a genius to see where im going with this.. at first i was seeing startling similarities between wow and swtor, now im starting to see the warhammer influence too. definately more wow than war at the momment.

swtor is going to be so terribly bad, i cant think of a suitable word for it. i think fail!! just doesnt quiet say it. and im an optomist lol.

Do I like this?  No, but I hate newbs and I hate what they have done to WOW to be so successful but I dont think its a bad move by bioware there are so many newbs out there and Im sure this makes them wet.

Going around constantly calling people "newbs" is truly the mark of a seasoned, hardcore MMO veteran. Congratulations!

Seriously, it's nice to see game companies cater to players that would either like to be able to enjoy a game without making it the centeral focus of their life, or simply don't feel that spending hours upon hours of your life trying to attain a pair of magical boots is the sign of a skilled gamer (or a sane person). Personally, I'm happy they are putting so much more focus into story and not into "grinding for leet gearz".

***Seriously, it's nice to see game companies cater to players that would either like to be able to enjoy a game without making it the centeral focus of their life****

errr isnt it why we start at level 1 in the noob areas and easy zones ??? so we can learn how to play the game so that lvl 50 isnt so complicated...

with your thinking we might as well start at lvl 50 and have the game as easy as it would be at lvl 1 in any other mmo.

its bad for game companies to cater for a larger audience in such a way.. doing it like this is simply alienateing the majority of online gamers that have been around for the last 10 years.. no one will play it because it will be too easy, people want a challange. they want entertainment.  doing it this way would be like playing chess but having some one else move your peices. or a car that drives its self.

roughly 8-10 years ago the best items in game could be brought from the auction houses because end game gear was crafted by the crafter class. now its all about looting. and its so so so sad. they need to put this kind of thing back into the hands of the crafters and get more subscribers..

what do you guys care how you get your loot. its either hours and hours and hours of grinding the same rediculous raid for the very same item that timmy has in israel.. or some dude that plays mmo's to craft  can make them for you in any style you wish and colour.  i know which i prefer.. the crafted variety.. it adds to customisation adspects and creates additional game content and emersion.. it also provides another form of game play which will encourage even more gamers.

Bioware are a gaming company so of course they are going to produce a game that caters for the general population of gamers. You'd be crazy not too unless you wanted to head to early closure or bankruptcy....that's why you see so few hard-core PvP mmos with severe death penalties or sand box worlds.

I fail to see how developers "alienateing the majority of online gamers that have been around for the last 10 years.." Majority of MMO players are originated from WoW.

The idea of 'welfare epics' isn't even used correctly, bioware mention you will get some for m of reward at the end of a flashpoint, but at no point said they will just continously drop the latest and greatest gear. It just means you aren't competeing against your group for the gear, you are competeing against the drop rate only.

Another thing about the "online gamers that have been around for the last 10 years", is that they seem to love grinding for hours and hours. doing the same thing over and over again. No offence, but it seems like a legitimate way of torture.

  • so it sounds like the loot containers are for normal mode only:

    http://darthhater.com/2011/08/21/gamescom2011-gabe-amatangelo-interview/page/1#44060

In the normal mode -- the kind of entry mode -- we're doing the loot containers that give everyone a chance. The idea is that it isn't requiring a hard-core guild on Vent to distribute stuff. It is casual; it is pickup and sort of a stepping-stone. The loot containers serve that purpose well. There will be some loot that might drop on some of those encounters outside of those bags that people can roll off on like a mount or something like that. We're still in testing to determine how we want to do the harder mode as far as loot distribution goes.

We said yesterday that you get more loot in the 16-man operations. To clarify, the better loot is reserved for the hard modes. Obviously with an increased challenge comes an increased reward.

yeesh. so 274 posts later it turns out its not that big of a deal after all. this happens way too much around here. bw even stated when they first announced loot containers that it was still being adjusted and could easily change. but of course that gets ignored and here we are, hundreds of flame posts later, staring blankly at the info that was given to us all along.

So far it's been decided that the loot container system will be used for Normal setting, though there is nothing that says it won't also be used for the Hard setting. It's up to the testers. Personally I hope the loot container system proves sufficient even at that level.
