SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the non-disclosure agreement for the Everquest 2 expansion, Destiny of Velious, has been lifted. The expansion is scheduled to be released next week with new content and more. Players are now free to discuss their experiences during the beta phase.

The Destiny of Velious NDA has officially lifted! If you participated in the Beta test, you're now free to start talking about Destiny of Velious. We hope you enjoyed the new expansion as much as we've enjoyed working on it.

Please remember that all posts made on the Beta forums are still protected under the NDA and should not be shared publicly. In addition, screenshots were disabled in the Beta test so any images taken by bypassing the disabled screenshot feature also fall under this restriction.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Beta test. We appreciate all your feedback and we can't wait to see you in Velious next week!

    Let the outrage begin!

I am suprised they decided to lift it after all, as the beta boards weren't exactly overly positive about this expansion (and that's a severe understatement) .

Lets just say that SOE seems to have put almost all their resources on DCUO and left the EQ2 live team with barely anyone left.

And it clearly shows with this expansion. I could see the few devs have tried their best and put a lot of energy in it.

But this is a very small expansion pack. Smallest so far. Very buggy and feels unfinished.

One of the major complaints is AGAIN the whole itemization being a shambles and SOE having to use the coming months and Live Updates to fix all the broken unfinished stuff of this expac.

The key selling point of this expac is the Flying Mounts and the ability to fly in all the old zones.

Well, to make it immediately clear. You will have to be level 86+ to pick up the quest and acquire the flying mount (there is a craftable one, but again endlevel!).

So if you are a new(er) player. Do not buy the expac. There is nothing in it for people below level 86 !  So you know!

i got invited to the beta maybe a month ago and never even bothered to check it out.  EQ2 is going the wrong direction and keeps getting worse.  My biggest problem with eq2 is that the classes take no thought.  Just mash any button and you'll win.  Doesn't even matter what the skills do, just mash them.

So why exactly is this expansion so crappy then?

Poor EQ2 you were such a good game before the weekly expansion packs.  It's disappointing to see stuff like this happen, but it's par for the course over at SoE

Actually the expansion quality went downhill once they stopped releasing them frequently.  In the 14 months after DoF they released both KoS and EoF, both quality especially EoF.  The they went to yearly cycle and the first one was great (RoK) but its been downhill since

well atleast they made a proper open progression dungeon....and raids supposed to be great....but yea DoV is by far a finished expansion, quite frustrating to see them push this expansion out the door in this state, the size of the scope is ok for an expansion, if they had included the 2nd part right away, but clearly need more people on it, and better organization when they produce it.

SOE is running on bare bones right now, DCUO published with little end game content, their spy MMO pushed back to next year, this new expansion for EQ2 barely playable, Star Wars Galaxies limited to silly item hunts.  They have reduced staff to dangerous levels so don't expect any turn around soon.  Smedley has run this shop into the ground, I am just amazed Sony lets him continue to operate like this.  A room full of monkeys could do a better job.

It is a real shame as they have decent titles that with a little love could be good again.

Tested the beta and esp the raid content for several weeks now, love this expac, quality over quantity, Velious 2 with be out later this year to double the contect. Everquest just keeps getting beter and beter.
