SC2 is too hectic.. Much more so than the first one. I will have a cookie instead and pass on SC2..
Originally posted by Garvon3 Originally posted by Jimmydean Originally posted by sonoggi Originally posted by Jimmydean I played SC1 for 2 or 3 years religiously when it first released. I loved it. However, like any RTS, it got old and I moved on to MMOs. When SC2 was announced I was pumped. Until I got into the beta, that is. SC2 is the same exact game as SC1 with updated graphics, and costing $60 (potentially $180) more than the SC1 game that I already own. If you play RTS competitively, you'll probably want to pick up SC2 to have other competitive gamers to play with. If not? Just play SC1. Same game.
similar game. sc2 being more streamlined in every possible way. the Korean demi-gods have stated themselves that they forsee a complete sc2 switchover.
real ID was scrapped weeks ago so stop talking about it =S
Streamlined in every way possible? Care to elaborate?
And as I said in my post, competitive gamers will probably switch to SC2 just to continue to play with other competitive gamers. However, the majority of the people Blizzard want to sell this to are not competitive gamers.
That being said, Blizzard doesn't give a shit that they aren't getting my $60. They are going to be laughing all the way to the bank with the millions of dollars they make from updating graphics on a 12 year old game.
Pretty much this. SC was never the best RTS anyway. It was fairly primitive and broken compared to many others.
Like it or dislike it that's ok but you lost all credibility saying Starcraft was broken. They're still patching the game to improve performance with new OS's. No RTS has ever recieved as much developer support as Starcraft. Hell no other game has ever recieved that much support. It has run smoothly on a wider variety of systems, including all Macs, than any game ever made. Game balance is as near perfect as anything ever made. Every bug, exploit and hack as been adressed immediately.

I was deprived as a child......seriously......I didn't get a computer until I had the money to buy my own hahaha! So I never played SC1 and have no care to play SC2.

Too bad Blizz took out the RealID forum usage, I would've gone to anyone's house within 5 km radius of mine and slammed a bench bar on their fat ass.
In your case its a good thing, since if you are going to do something like that over a game means you got brain damage.
No, but I could certainly cause brain damage to you with ease.
There are multiple things on the internet you would never say in life. I have one friend that has quite a big potty mouth that went KTV a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what he said, but he got a bottle opened on his head and a chair broken over his back. He was hosptailized after and almost got my other friends into a scrap as well due to them trying to stop the fight. Reason why I wasn't called to 'solve the problem'? Because my smart friend didn't want any blood to be shed. Needless to say, after I found out I got mad pissed and wanted to start shit with whoever was involved on the otherside but that's the reason why he didn't call me in the first place.
The lesson? That friend who got the bottle opened on his head has a habit of being an internet troll. The problem is he doesn't have the physique or the scrap experience to back it up. There are SO MANY PEOPLE like him on forums it's not even funny. I'd love to have a horrible day where I get into a fight with my girl, do poorly on a final/mid term, and have other things pile up on me result in me taking it out on some poor bastard that thinks shit talking on the internet is safe.
Not all of us are out of shape obese nerds who hide behind the monitor.
People are not legitimized inciting violence over words or otherwise expressed opinions. I don't care what you think you are, if you come to my house mad about something I say and threaten me, you'll be very lucky to not get shot. Sure I understand how "having a bad day" and frustration mix, but that's about time you need to turn off your computer and go do some push ups or work over a heavy bag or something. Real life isn't a game of grand theft auto, and you don't do yourself any justice getting worked up over words. Just words, man. Just... words.
People like you should be tracked down by the police , beaten up good and put into jail in a cell with Bubba-"The One Who You Don't Want To Take A Shower With". You're a nutcase plain and simple and need a psychiatrist to examine you asap. Idc what you say but it's people like you who end up snapping , taking a gun and causing random murders for no reason. I think Real ID could have been good to track people like you up and is a bad idea because people could have fallen a victime from nutjobs like you. If someone insults me on the streets i'll use verbal violence back i won't beat him up. That's what criminals do (and i speak out of experience here).
PS: for any moderators, i'm sorry for the flaming but this guy is just unacceptable

here comes the overrated game of the year...
SC2 is SC1 with a new paint coat and a Last Stand mode ripoff from DoW2. and anyway SC1 was worse than classics like tiberian sun, Civ series or Total Annihilation
people that goes apeshit insane about this probably are drinking ye gud olde Blizzard hype but dont know jack shit of RTS games...morons...

Don't assume you know me. Randomly calling me a little shit simply because I posted a picture.
I'd be one of those happy to take you up on that offer, but unluckily for the both of us you don't live in London England.
"We got rid of the trinity." How'd you do that? "Now everyone can heal." Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." I see, so they're healers. "No. They're.." -mind asplode-

So $180 for a video game is ok with you?
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
Not liking Starcraft is one thing...
But thinking its not going to be a huge release that takes a chunk out of everything is just silly. Starcraft 2 is huge, huge budget, huge fanbase, huge advertising.
Just because you don't like WoW doesn't make the any less of a glorious success.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

i lol'd. youre one of those Total Annihilation nostalgics. let's just allow the populations to speak for their respective games.
Originally posted by Lienhart Originally posted by Garvon3 Originally posted by sonoggi sc2 is innovative in many ways. that being said, all the excitement is because of: - mass player-directed marketing through youtube replays - balanced pvp (pretty much nonexistent in the multiplayer world) = unlimited content - ridiculous map editor potential - success of sc1 - fun gameplay; hands down the best strategy game since sc1, with wc3 being a close third. and i played them all everything came together for blizzard. most importantly they listened to the player base 100% during beta which led to a more or less perfectly balanced game for release
Yeah, you're not a Blizzard fanboy or anything.
Do you honestly believe SC was better than Age of Empires 2? Seriously?
And everyone in Korea agrees.
I'm 1/4th Korean, 1/4th Japanese and 1/2th Taiwanese. My opinion automatically invalidates yours.
Ah that explains your need to stab people because they stole your pixelated sword.
Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.

Im one of those C&C nostalgics.
and in all honesty 50% of the population that would speak for SC2 are Blizzard fanbois that never played any RTS besides WC3 and SC1 and know absolutly nothing about the golden age of RTSs, and I wouldnt understand the remaining 50% as they would speak in korean.
You wont impress me with that...dont make me play the MacDonalds card, please...
How about Age of Mythology? Is it ok if I like that game? I mean I know its not Blizzard but I kinda like it.

Too bad EA Ruin-it-all destroyed C&C Used to be a C&C fanboy to. But tbh , to say that one cannot think highly of SC without being a Blizz fanboy is a bit exagerated . It's overhyped and that's for sure but i can understand it is appealing to some people.
i was an RTS player before MMO's so ive played them all. im no fanboy. i just know pvp balance when i see it. sc1/2 have it, most others dont. red alert was good, AOE's were good, TA was good, DoWII is average, list goes on an on, but sc1 was revolutionary because no other RTS won over more fans and had the longevity. sc2 is basically a superior version of the first. with nothing else on the horizon from other developers, im gonna have to give this one to sc2 sry.

Less than that for a full video game and two equal sized expansions.
So, you're a Canadian-Korean....must be tough for you.
always liked alpha centauri better than starcraft....

I havnt seen the price of the xpacs. Just people saying you have to buy the game three times. Didnt take the exaggeration factor into account.
Sigh. I am tired of the hype. This game will fail just like Aion did. Remember the hype from that?
I never really liked the first SC... I actually thought there where better RTS's out there.. I was in the beta pretty early on for SC2 and I hardly played it pretty much the same as the first just all prettied up.
RTS games just haven't appealed to me for the past 20 years.
I tried a whole bunch but they just don't grab me, except Lords of EverQuest & I think that one only did so because of the EQ link in so I don't think SC2 is going to be worth my time or money trying either.
I didn't much care for SC1 either. It's argueably one of the most over rated games to date (though not as much as halo.)
I'll be passing on it.

First day. You're already wrong. The game is a success.
