SANGUO Online --------from China

Wind and thunder belloweth,
Rivers floodeth the mountains,
Heaven and earth breaketh,
While Gods and Devils cowereth in fear!
Summon the era of ,
Of Eastern lands steeped in ancient legend,
Of golden spears and armored horses,
That cast shadows under fiery crimson skies...

With big dreams come great pursuits. From the golden sands of the Gobi, the desert hawk takes flight. From the shores of the willow beach, flowing tides reach out for the lingering moon. Fearless demigods pierce their swords through the air in the name of chivalry, while elsewhere lovelorn pugilists travel the Central Plains in search of their true companions. Herald the crossroads of warfare and strategems, brotherhood and betrayal, love and hatred, humility and ambition, determination and destiny... Immerse in a legendary realm where power-hungry kings, battle-frenzied warlords, victorious heroes and humble commoners live side-by-side, bearing hopes, dreams, thirsts and illusions centuries old, yet surprisingly akin to the innate desires of modern mankind. Step into the world of  , and relive the menace, bloodshed and mayhem of ancient warring China.

Cao Cao (²Ü²Ù), the King of Wei, started building his army in the city of Chen Liu (êÁô) in 190 AD, and after the Battle of Guandu (êP¶ÉÖ®‘ð) at the Yellow River in 200 AD, he became famous for his brilliance and cunningness and as a capable but deceitful ruler. He rose quickly to power with his unparalleled ambition following the defeat of Han generals Yuan Shao (Ô¬½B) and Yuan Shu (Ô¬Ðg). He later killed the dishonorable L¨¹ Bu (…β¼), used the last Han emperor as a figurehead to execute his political plans, swept across the Central Plains with his huge army and eventually ruled much of northern China. Additionally, he was a master of strategy, poetry and ancient Shang magic and a believer in intuition. Being versatile and pragmatic, he was known to sail with the times, forget old animosities and seek alliances with past enemies in order to deal with present dangers

Liu Bei („¢‚ä), a royal successor of the Han Empire, was the wise, fiercely-loyal and bold leader of the Shu Kingdom who had unmatched determination in recruiting talents from throughout the land. With the help of gallant generals and faithful sworn brothers Guan Yu (êPÓð) and Zhang Fei (ˆïw), and Zhuge Liang (ÖT¸ðÁÁ), the ablest strategist of the age, as his most trusted minister, Liu managed to rise to power as a just and righteous ruler in Yizhou (ÒæÖÝ) and resist the advance of Wei's armies for a long time. He was strong-willed, adventurous, indomitable, steadfast and courageous. A fine warlord with great vision, sense of fairness and an undaunted spirit, he had his eyes set on the Central Plains and was prepared for battle with the enemy at any time.

The Kingdom of Wu with its center at Jiangdong (½–|) had three generations of great rulers. Sun Jian (ŒOˆÔ), founder of the state, was well-known for his sincerity and resoluteness. His son, Sun Ce (ŒO²ß), lived up to his father's glory with his heroic spirit by invading Yangzhou (“PÖÝ) and capturing up to six counties with the help of loyal generals and borrowed troops from Yuan Shu (Ô¬Ðg). Sun Ce was skilled in martial strategies and ruthless offensives as he defeated the Han marquis of Yangzhou, Liu Yao („¢ôí), and Liu's successor, Hua Xin (ÈAì§), magistrate Wang Lang (ÍõÀÊ), and Yuan Shu's successor Liu Xun („¢„ì). His brother, Sun Quan (ŒO™à), was diplomatic and mild-mannered, and remarkably gifted with the skill of motivating and gathering honorable men for his cause. Despite his lack of ambition, he was a great, well-liked and revered leader who had the support of both commoners and generals, and enjoyed the longest reign among all founders of the Three Kingdoms.

I don't mean this as a flame nor do I intend to make this a racist statement at all:

But I will never play a chinese mmorpg as long as I live.   I'm sorry I just can't do it.  When I hear Chinese mmorpg, the first thing that comes to mind is all those adena farmers on Lineage ][.

I'm sure your game will be good and I hope you become very successful in it and I wish you the best of luck with it!! But I just cannot play it.  It's not just your game...it's any chinese mmorpg.

Now, if you have country or region restricted servers then I may.

I 100% agree. Only the words adena farmer or adena botter make me shiver.
    NEVER EVER AGAIN!

  • fulmanfufulmanfu Member Posts: 1,523

actualy there is no reason for farming in that game, and im sure there wont be any.
reason being, there is not thousands of idiots from the u.s. buying the 'gold' on ebay, so what point?

If his game ever got popular and Americans played it, I would bet my left pinky that Chinese Farmers would soon emerge.

The economy in China isn't the greatest and as long as there is a popular mmorpg over there with Americans or Europeans playing, thats a money opportunity for them.

For us Westerners...its just a game...or should be

Well, it has good visuals and the 3 Kingdoms background so that means there'll be some sort of DAOC style Realm vs Realm system.

I think its still in development or some sort of closed testing, but looks pretty interesting so far.

I enjoyed playiong the easy going three kingdoms genre of games, however online i doubt would work, because there not likely to make any north american servers.I dont feel like pinging 1200 in an online game ,because ill be dying before i even know i'm in a fight [lol].It isn't as relevant as in a FPS game ,but still it gets to me after awhile.Botting/outside game proggies seem to be rampant everywhere now ,its a shame.Just look at how many sites run cheat codes and advertise cheating....thousands.Reason is that there is that many lame players out there, again sad.

Mmm... when i played FFXI, the fact that the servers were in Japan wasn't really a big deal. I rarely lagged and was never disconnected.

    Cheers iun,

The screens you posted here look pretty good. image I'll definitely try your link to it. And trust me, your English is actually better than a lot of other english-speaking posters around here, my friend. image

Please don't take offense to what may sound like racist posts, by some others on this thread. I know what they mean by the overall 'generic' flavor that some Eastern games tend to have. But I'm here to remind my Western Brothers that there's a ton of snoringly-generic flavoring to a lot of Western-Developed games, too.  Heh! I think I just made up a new English word - 'Snoringly'... as in 'b-o-r-i-n-g! image

I think they're all posting from the local pub, hoisting a few pints as they go. image (jk)

One thing's for sure, though, iun. If you're really looking for honest opinions & suggestions about your game, then you've definitely come to the right place. We have lots of heated discussions around here; because we're all pretty passionate about our MMOGs. image Just get to know who the experienced, hardcore gamers are; & who the grief-posters are. You'll quickly learn who's opinion is worth listening to; & who's griefing is worth laughing at.

    Welcome to MMORPG.com ~ spiritwolf

ps~ I just read some more of the remarks in this thread & have to admit: They don't just 'sound' racist...they are! And I see the racism runs both ways here tonight ~ West to East, then East right back to West. image Come on Guys! We're ALL better than that! (at least, I hope we are)

I wish you this title the very best of luck. Hopefully there is a Chinese/Taiwanese community out there for this type of MMORPG, everything about it looks great. The people who play Lineage II are probably actually a small percentage of the gamers, and in no way do I hold anyone else for their actions but themselves. I'd look into this game but I don't know any chinese. The graphics engine looks very polished.

    P.S.

    Enigma,Thoe, etc:

I think what he meant to state was the story line is Chinese in origin (Romance Of The Three Kingdoms) because the ".tw" in the address seems like the game is being developed in Taiwan. However, I maybe wrong because a site called Franc seems to be doing some CG for this game which at this point looks very beautiful.

    _______________

I put what I said in the first part in a translator, hope this works:

    我這非常最好地祝你這個標題運气中。有希望地為了這种類型的 MMORPG 有一個那儿的中國人/台灣人社區,一切關于它看起來大的。扮演血統的人 II 事實上大概是游戲玩家的一個小的百分比,一點也不做我因為他們的行動拿住其他任何人但是他們自己。我會調查這個游戲但是我不認識任何中國人。圖像引擎看很擦亮。

Spiritwolf is right. I didn't express myslef well in my 1st reply. Linage II was problematic because of Adena farmers but SANGUO Online i s a different game so it may be totally different.
It's no problem when peole sell ingame money on ebay. It'S only a problemw hen the pople gatherig it ruin the fun of others but this is preventable.
The guys over at NCSoft just didn't solve the problem wich was bad for them.

I'll follow the development of this new titel. It's looking very promising for sure.

  • spiritwolfspiritwolf Member Posts: 46

Thank you Thoemse, for taking the time to come back here & express yourself so well, in your newest post. My HERO!!! (((HUGS))) image

And I couldn't agree more about how these otherwise good game titles become problematic. Buying & selling ingame money on e-bay should never have become the huge problem it did. We need more titles where who you are as a player, & how you act towards your fellow players, is as important as how much you 'acquire' along your gameplay path. You know, some kind of true reward system for being the honorable Knights, Lords, Ladies, Wise Mages, etc, that we all love to play as. image And as for those among us who choose to play to their 'darkside' & whack us all in pvp mode...well, isn't getting to kill us repeatedly it's own reward???? imageimageimage

Another excellent point you raised was when you stated that's it's the guys/gals behind these titles that are ultimately responsible for choosing how to effectively handle these problems as they arise... or for choosing to ignore them, until it's too late to attempt 'fixing' anything, because the game's ruined beyond repair. Once a game loses it's faithful player/fanbase, it's usually way too late to try & start over.

I just got back from checking out the site. The screens look very nice, iun. Please keep us all informed.

I do have one question so far (more later, I'm sure image ). Will it be full PvP, or will we also have our choice of Pvp & Non-PvP zones &/or servers? I prefer a choice in whether I have to PvP or not.  Somedays I want to join a team & get right into the thick of it...& somedays, I just want to be able to catch my breath, & catch up on my crafting, training, & socialising.  image

I will definitely be keeping up with this one. I have played games based on the 3Kingdoms for over ten years. Thank you for the link. I just wonder if all the characters from the texts will be playable.
    Thanks again

    Spiffy.

I hope this game becomes very successful and I wish him well with it.  It's just a game based in the China region naturally scares me; which is natural considering the first game I played that had Chinese players turned out to be a nightmare.

I have nothing against the Chinese population whatsoever. My wife and I have adopted a chinese girl a couple years back.  So, it's not fueled by prejudice of racism.

I just happen to notice that Chinese players in mmorpg are very bad lol. I would even take a dare and a leap of faith by saying they're worse than American players image

Now, Japanese players I found to be the nicest of all players on the face of the planet.  Hell, in FFXI they did nothing but help me when I first started out.  I felt ashamed sometimes asking for favors and they never argued in return. They were courteous and polite.

I am sure Chinese people are like that too. I am sure they are like that in real life as I have frequented Chine numerous times.  But in the gaming world, Chinese and Koreans are like freaken football players with machine guns, lol.

I hope his game goes well, and I certainly pray that his mmorpg will not be swamped by players like Love001, Love002, Love003, Love004, Love005, Love005, HP++001, HP++002, HP++003, HP++004, HP++005, etc, etc.

If they do...ban them all image

Enigma. I think you're a little decieved when looking at MMORPG's. You seem to clump the few farmers/botters in a game like Lineage 2. And think that all asian based games are that way.

I've seen my plenty share of botters/farmers in about every western game I've played. And if you don't want to play a game that doesn't have them. Then I doubt you'd end up playing any.

Although i'll agree with you on one point, those koreans are a little over-obssessive over their MMORPGs. I believe they have gang-wars over them...
