What's the most popular mmorpg which is f2p that has the most population playing? No guild wars please .. (it's great though

I think Silkroad online has the biggest playerbase.
If you want something new with a big population try Perfect World or Mabinogi.

Has 72 million accounts....you realize probably 50 million are alts of the original 25 million, just like in every other game!
I would recommend giving Mythos a try. It's not out of beta yet, but this game is very fun. Think Diablo 2 with a little bit of WoW, Guild Wars, and Fate mixed in. Currently the game is building momentum for open release, but those who have played it can tell you that so far it is a quality product with much more to come.
They have stated that it will remain f2p as well so no worries about paying.
I didn't say the game was fun. I was answering the question of the thread. Maplestory has the most users and is F2P.
You realize that maplestory isn't the only game where people make alternate accounts? So you realize you can expect the same thing from every other MMO except they have nowhere near 72 million accounts? The statistics did not consider that players can have multiple accounts, but it also did not state if multiple accounts were not counted. Therefore, the actual number of players could be less than the announced statistics.
I don't recommend any MMORPG. I don't currently play any mmorpg. I've been lurking around here for almost a year waiting for the right game.
Nobody is throwing anything here. I'm getting this information from wikipedia and they got it from gamestudy.org. Sure, the statistics did not consider that players can have multiple accounts; there isn't a convenient way not to count them. Alternate accounts are going to be detected and accounted for, for all games, until someone can make a better method for conducting population estimations in a virtual world.

On the maplestory-wikipedia page, you can see that they currently have 9 regional versions (South Korea, Japan, China, Global/North American, South-East Asia, Taiwan, Thailand, Europe and Hong Kong) and 4 more regional versions on the way (Vietnam, Brazil, India, and South-West Asia). Their current 9 regional versions have 97 servers and 7 test servers between them. Their servers are split into channels. Each channel is a world (identical). Some of their servers have 20 channels of shoulder-to-shoulder grindage and market places like this:

The most popular mmorpgs are Silkroad, maplestory and Flfyff, based on minutes played. You can see this information on the xfire.com site. There you will find the top 10 most played online games. At tenth place you will find Silkroad/Flyff. And early in the mourning when there is no american playing you will find maplestory on ten.
