Yeah, that is why I flirted with the idea of becoming a Priest long ago....  Before puberty, before I recognized the beauty of the female body...

Sept 11th, 1991, George Bush senior mentioned the new world order for the first time...
He went on to talk about saddam hussien, and the threat the middle east was, 10 years exactly to the day of 9/11.

I'm sorry if truth bothers you guys, but there it is, the first time George Bush Senior mentioned Saddam and the "new world order" was september eleventh 1991, exactly 10 years before the twin towers collapsed.

It's amazing what a little research can do.

WAKE UP YOU FUCKING IDIOTS, call me every name in the book, but thats the truth.

Man the bible is great, if you like Fiction novels.  Frankly i reckon LoTR has more credability to being a true account of past events.

Now someone spouting their religious beliefs on a forum always leads to flaming.  Mod's, do us a favour and lock this thread, its already turned ugly and should of been locked posts ago.

jesus lived. its a fact, however hes no more than anyone else that has died for their faith.

  • KhuzarrzKhuzarrz Member Posts: 578

We actually dont know he died for faith at all. We just know he was a man, and he died (the reports of execution are subject to some scrutiny by most scholars atm I'm told).

Personally, I prefer to leave knowledge I can't have outside of my scope of learning. There is no point in trying to aspire to something that there is absolutely no way you can achieve. As such, I'd suggest calling yourself agnostic or join one of the many 'open minded' 'churches'. Jesus might have been the son of God. He might have been a carpenter. We won't know until we die, so just live life to the fullest and let others live theirs.

And for the record, Jews do believe in Jesus. Might wanna research that one again ;) They believe - same as muslims do - Jesus was a prophet. And their account is just as credible as the christian one in my opinion. Jesus never once claimed to be the son of God, and he never claimed to be part of any 'trinity.' That's just down to interpretation. The Christians interpret what he said to have been God's words from God's own son, the Jews interpret what he said to have been God's words from a prophet. I must admit I'm not 100% sure what Islam says expressly about Jesus, except that he was a prophet - I'm sure Ob1sr/One'ANDTHESAME'Muslim will come and jump on this asap though.

that is true.  i personally believe he was just a guy that people looked up to.  then after he was killed due to his popularity people wrote about him then other people over-exaggerated it making him sound like someone miraculously important.  but i agree well never know until we are dead, and maybe not even then.  people have different beliefs.  i ,for one , am atheist.  I dont believe their is a god.

We jews don't believe Jesus was a prophet.  He taught things that don't jive with the Torah.  That's why we don't believe he was anything more than a pretty charismatic fella.
  • BlurrBlurr Member UncommonPosts: 2,155

The idea about Jesus teaching views different from the Torah is that the torah was out of date, and Jesus gave us a new set of guidelines.

From what I understand, the Muslim faith actually does believe that Jesus is more than just a prophet. I'm told that they believe when the 'final battle' comes, it will be Jesus leading the righteous against the evil.

I have no idea what you are even trying to say with this...I didn't say that God wouldn't love you for cussing and drinking, I simply quoted the Bible verse for you, because you were representing your faith in the same paragraph in which you said "I'll come down on you like a fucking shit hammer"  And that's not a good way to represent christianity...it's like wearing a cross to a strip club.

It has nothing to do with self righteousness either, I said in my very post that I myself am flawed in this very same way, I simply did not like how Necran was representing christianity.

So when is the next edition of God's words due to come out?  I'm thinking this edition is long outdated.

    None.

    Revelation 22:18-19 says,
    "For I testify unto everyone
who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to these
things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; And
if anyone takes away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God
shall take away his part from the Book of Life, and from the holy city,
and from the things which are written in this book."

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

    Yes, it is.

So, first he doesn't exist, and then someone pretended to be him, that is, someone that didn't exist, before that non-existant person, became of popular renown.

While watching the Papal TV channel the other day Jesus stepped out of my TV tube and authorized me to lock this thread.

He didn't give me admin rights, though.

This experience showed me why atheism is the way to go, and I'm sticking with it.

It's kinda funny.  Between the varied denominations of Protestantism that emerged only in the past millenium, the Roman Catholic church pushing papal infallibility between those that contradict each other, Eastern Orthodox Christianity born of the Eastern Roman Empire, and the Coptic Christians in Egypt who maintain Monophysitism (Jesus having only the nature of the divine, coming down as such, and never having actually been a mortal man), Christians can barely agree on anything about Jesus.

Islam sees Jesus as a prophet, but not to be worshipped.  Rather, their worship is reserved for God (Allah being the Arabic word for God, Christians who speak Arabic would refer to God as Allah as well)

Yet for being such a peaceful man whose temper only ran foul when faced with corruption, so many people kill over his name.  Whether Jesus was simply a man, the Son of God, God himself, or something else entirely, I can say for certain that Jesus would be deeply hurt and deeply saddened by seeing so many people using his name for hatred and grief.

I've met many religious people in my day, but very few who followed their faith.

And yes, it's quite sad how many people would wear a cross but misrepresent their own religion so badly...it's actually pretty embarassing when I'm around somebody that does something like that.

    Just thought I'd add this.

There where several Jesus's if thats what you want to call them, exact same time as Jesus.

In fact there was a guy named Thias that lived several hundred miles away from Jesus who was supposedly the son of god, claimed to perform miracles on the street, started a religion, was killed and crusisfied and rose from the dead and had a giant bunny hide colorful eggs! All the kids go "But bunny's dont lay eggs?"

Seriously all this is true except that last part there are several people who lived the same life Jesus did. Im not 100% sure if I spelled his name right it has been awhile.

unsubtantiated claims made by people trying to refute christianity or religion in general..there is no way to prove any of that.

"but there is no way to prove your faith either!!"

Yes well that's why they call it "faith"  You can have your faith, and I can have mine, but don't make claims that you have no way whatsoever of proving about MY faith, and I will do you that same courtesy

Im not refuting chrisianity or any religion, believe what ever bullshit story you want. People do write things down, wether you want to belive it or not Thias exsisted.

Hmm well, even the Bible cant agree on when Jesus lived.. There are two completely different Roman governors named as the one that had him crucified. Nothing was written about him untill over 40 years (according to the latest probable timeline) after his death, and it was by a guy named Saul (who changed his name) who never met him. Saul did not speak of a single thing that Jesus did in his lifetime other than he was the son of God, he was crucified and three days later rose from the dead. Stories of Jesus's actual miracles and sermons were not written till even later than Saul. During the time where Jesus was said to live there were many other groups that worshiped similair panteons. there are literealy scores of other Christ like figures who all have the same story that precede Jesus. Check this out.

Ragland's the Hero (the study of
folklore) Jesus is actual third on the Raglands scale of heroic
attributes. Here are a few that many of these figures share.

Born of a virgin on Dec 25

    Stars appeared at birth

Visited by magi from the east

    turned water to wine

    healed the sick

    Cast out demons

    Performed miracles

    Transfigured before followers

Rode a donkey into a city

Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver

celebrated a communal meal with bread
and wine (which represented the saviors flesh and blood)

Killed on a cross or a tree

    Descended into hell

    Resurrected on the third day

    Ascended into heaven

    Became a divine judge

Christians say that Jesus is the true
savior and that the other heroic personae were counterfeited in
advance by Satan because he knew that the day would come when people
would ask. Here are some that share the heroic attrobutes shared with Jesus

    Krishna

    Mithra

    Osiris

    Atos

    Adonis

    Tamuz

    odopus

    Theseus

    Romulus

    Hercules

    Perseus

    Horus

    Jesus

So as far as I'm concerned Christianity is just a product that had better marketing. Also check out this vid called The God Who Wasnt There.

    The god that wasnt there

The burden of proof lies on the person making the unsubstantiated claim. You claim a big invisible man created you and wrote a book, you carry the burden of proof. Why would I have to provide proof that he doesn't exist? That makes no sense.
