I'm a fan of adventure games and especially Myst, but I'd be the first to agree that the majority of gamers will find this boring.  I'm just hoping there'll be enough subscribers to keep the project in motion, and hopefully with regular updates.

    That is an interesting point.

My cousin (14 yo, male) plays some of the more traditional MMORPG and I was afraid he wouldn't like URU.  So I got him started in Until URU, and I think about the first 15 minutes were frustrating for him.  He was used to constant action and he would (in chat in Until URU) say he didn't know what to do, nothing was happening, etc.

Then he was chatting with me less and less and doing more and more.     He's a really smart guy so, once he got used to the different kind of game play, he didn't want to stop.  He was really into the puzzles.  At his dinner time I got a quick message, saying, "so cool!  have to eat dinner, 20 min max, u still here then?"

After dinner, we continued on until his bedtime, which he was unable to get pushed back.

So I think that it won't be what people are accustomed to in an MMORPG.  But I think that those willing to explore something new will find much more than they imagined.

Unfortunately those 15 minutes will cost them millions :P

    I don't think so.

I think when people are willing to try something of a new flavor, they don't give up that quickly.  That would be if they had gotten something from a familiar genre and didn't understand it right away.

He certainly didn't and I had told him I truly wouldn't mind if he did.

But then, maybe you were just trolling?  (noticed your avvie title/quote)

I played the original Myst and Riven and enjoyed both of them. Are there any major differences between those and Uru, other than the online part?

Well, in my opinion, not really.

Some of those who know far more about the D'ni culture will say that this is not part of the MYST series, but it's about visiting D'ni ruins (in a way) -- empty places the D'ni had once inhabited.

The style of play is the same in that you are more independent, figuring out things at your own pace.

And your avvie is ... you.  You can make it look however you like but many go with the original idea that it is you doing the exploring ( U R U - you are you ).

Was there a particular aspect you were thinking about or is there anything else I can tell you?

No, that was enough. Just wanted to see if there was anything I needed to get used to before playing. I love the Myst games
