Shadowbane: The State of Shadowbane

The official Shadowbane website includes an article by Kellion about the current state of and future plans for Shadowbane.  The item recaps recent issues regarding Shadowbane's European release:

Although we were extremely excited about our success in December, January has turned out to be phenomenally better. Finally, after a year in total limbo following the dissolution of the European Shadowbane publisher, Ubisoft was able to acquire the rights to distribute and offer Shadowbane to our many friends and fans there. Just two weeks ago, the first German, English, French, and Italian gamers started arriving in the worlds of Aerynth. The entire Shadowbane team is overjoyed to see our European and North American fans united at last.

Also covered are some of the upcoming additions to the game, including the next macro-zone:

In March, the next major content patch for Shadowbane, "Rise of the Upstart Gods," will be released. This major update will include a new macro-zone that features our second Epic Encounter in Shadowbane. We wanted to show you our concept for the new super-powerful monster.

The State of Shadowbane may be read in its entirety here.

They should get a spin-doctor award for that.  The reason why 'Rise of Chaos' is out of stock in most stores.  Is because Shadowbane is considered a failure.  Most retails are trying to get rid of the current copies of Shadowbane they have.  So why would they pick up the 'expansion' to a failed game?   I know most of the Best Buys here in Maryland stopped stocking Shadowbane last year.   Growing population?  lol.  Is that why the only new servers are the 2 they added for europe?   Is that why SB started out with 10 servers.  Yet only has 8 now?   With populations that never break 2000 like when the game first launched.

The recycle bin is getting full.   Shadowbane, Horizons, StarWars: Galaxies, Eve-Online, Earth and Beyond.

Good thing SquareSoft at least made a good MMORPG.   Hopefully Worlf of Warcraft, Ryzom, Dark and Light, Mythica, Everquest 2, Realm of Torment, Lineage 2, and Middle Earth Online.   Can redeem the genre that so many craptastic MMORPG's (See Recycle Bin) are slowly but surely destorying.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

We all need to get used to the fact MMORPG's are going to need time to be "really" good.  WoW folks...get ready.
