5% of Discord users will be lucky enough to be included in the first initial round of testing of video chat capabilities. The team is going to be closely monitoring bandwidth usage, bug, crashes and other issues. I didn't ask for this. What I asked for was the ability to set an avatar on a specific server.

Good. Discord adoption is growing very fast now and is used beyond gaming. Not surprised Twitch released the full Desktop client but it may be too late as many Twitch streamers created a Discord server and it's just more convenient to have every communities under one client.

Partnered on twitch and on discord here. Both have their pros and cons. Twitch didn't make their app to compete with Discord. While it does have voice capabilities, the idea of the Twitch app was to keep a community in one area and have the ability to watch the stream within app. It also had mod support for video games such as World of Warcraft. Discord, while it is a VOIP program first and foremost, is trying to aim to be a multi-use program. That being said, both Twitch and Discord devs are quite friendly with each other and support each other. Over on the Discord partner server and twitch partner server on Discord, twitch and discord staff are pretty active.
