Guild Wars 2 News - In case you haven't marked your calendar yet, this weekend will mark the Guild Wars 2 expansion preview of Path of Fire. Anyone can take part in the content that will include the opening story from Path of Fire as well as a chance to explore the Crystal Oasis on one of the new mounts, the Raptor. All that is needed is for players to create a free account by registering on the Guild Wars 2 site.

    You can do whatever you want with the new expansion? Or need to finish quests or something from old content first?

    You can do whatever you want. One thing I hate about FF14 is that I have to finish the old quests etc before getting into the new expansion. There is no need for something like that in Gw2. You can buy the expansion and jump in without touching the previous expansion.

    You get a separate beta character slot in which you can create a new level 80 character. There are no beta servers and such in GW2. It's all implemented into the live environment. Your beta character's progression gets wiped after the beta including all gold and loot you get with it.

    It's just a limited preview though. You get to try the beginning of the story in an expansion zone, some new mechanics, a mount, no elite specializations, no masteries. The elite specs will be previewed live next weekend during the PvP tests.
