Games like Marvel Avengers Alliance

For a number of years, there was a facebook game called Marvel Avengers Alliance.  It was sort of like the early FF games, with an agent (you) who carried gear, and then two Marvel characters in turn-based fights.  It was ridiculously deep.  There were 150 characters by the end.  You could 'spec' them with gems in the characters and their powers, upgrading the characters.  They had a new mission every  month, usually tied in to something coming out in the comics or the movies.  
Then it got canceled.
There was also a MAA2, but it was canceled with the FB game.
I was wondering if there were any similarly deep games with a similar format that I could get into.  Its a pretty simple format on its surface, and there may be fifty games just as good I don't know about.

I played it before and i like the pvp with using wolverine as the counter-attack just too badass.
