    Only ever played the first one. I liked it so not sure why I never played the others.

    The combat and everything were better and more evolved in the second one, but the second one did away with alot of the RPG elements... many of which were brought back in the third one.

    As far as controls and gameplay, the second one outshone the first, IMO.  Iirc, however, they completely did away with planetary vehicle exploration.. which, again, was brought back in the third.

    Have done 3 playthrues, It's a really great game.
