No, Not even close. That has nothing to do with what I said.
I said that when you make free accounts available, it will be the existing population that will utilize them more than new players will. Unless CCP takes precautions, this could become a problem in the same way FR00B Mule accounts wrecked AO's economy.
They do take precautions...
Alpha clones are severely limited in their potential, way more than current trial accounts. While it is said it isn't decided yet, it will very likely be unable to multibox with Alpha clones.
Really, not much going on here...
"Severely limited in their potential"? What's the point? They can't be too limited or the whole thing is meaningless, and if there is any use whatsoever, you can bet the existing veteran player based will make more use of it than any new or returning player will.
A new player will enjoy it and eventually end up subbing and learning the economy enough to make ISK and pay for sub through ingame credits. Yes they limit trial accounts so they aren't really profitable for existing paying players to mess with. Remember the point is to attract new players so they have to make these trial accounts very unattractive to active players. Eve is such a deep game that you can easily make it a waste of time for old players and something exciting for new players.
When I first saw this I was kind of shocked. Never thought CCP would go that route. Then I read more about it and realize that it is more a trail then actual "f2p". I haven't played EVE in a while but when I did I liked it. I only stopped playing because I could not find a good Corp that would take me and my small group of friends. Even with this "Alpha States" I doubt I would go back and play at this point as I would not be able to use most of what I had previously worked at earning.
"Severely limited in their potential"? What's the point? They can't be too limited or the whole thing is meaningless
If a player in EVE was limited by or defined by the sum of their stats, that would be true. However, the more open the gameplay, the greater the player's impact can be.
For example, while skilled/social player with a level 20 capped WOW character is pretty useless, a skilled/social player with a free account could still become legendary/popular/well-know/reviled in EVE.
Your argument seems to be that existing players would benefit more from these accounts, but that's not really true. There's not much one could do with a free account that they couldn't do much better with their main account. Use it to avoid consequences? That would be a violation of the EULA.

Tech 1 Ships? Mining Frigate? A nice list of skills? Sounds good for an unlimited trial option and should give new players a taste of EvE without cash.
As for me, as an old player from over 10 years ago I have no interest in returning, even for free. It's not the skill list or what we can do and fly, that's all cool with me, I would have everything I want. I left because I didn't want to be prey and I didn't want to be a predator either. This new setup will fire up that whole scenario something good for a while.
No matter how fun EvE is if you don't want to be the prey or predator there's no place for you in EvE. I learned that the hard way.
I do love EvE and I wish CCP good luck with this. Hope it helps keep the game going.
Instead of making alt accounts and half-cut assumptions, you would be better off actually trying out and learning the game...
Exactly whom do you think I am Gdemami? You seem to think I am a regular contributor on these forums... I am not.
As for learning the game, I sub'd and played for over 5 years. There are parts of EvE I love and parts I hate. I learned the game well enough and I just don't find much of the intended longterm gameplay enjoyable to my tastes.
When I said a player in EVE is either predator or prey that is no assumption. To me that's a fact as that was my experience in EVE and it was also the experience of my friends who tried it as well. If you want to try and tell me I'm wrong I going to tell you it's you that should stop making assumptions.

Well he did nail it when he said you are either prey or predator in this game. There is no inbetween and I would have to say that most are prey.
You can avoid the prey part most of the time if you were careful, the problem with that is, you can remove access to a lot of the game being careful.
The major issue with this game that CCP has made predator hunting nie impossible. Reminds me of the issue UO had with reds hiding in houses. This game really caters to the predators and CCP is reluctant to make any changes that mess with the inbalance. If you are prey, the game rules are stacked against you.
So I don't think there will be many that play this game for free as they will just be major prey with little ability to fight back and they will soon find out how true this is.
Probably the best way to bring F2P to a game like Eve. Unfortunately for me, I bet all the available skills are already maxed. Mebbe I'll have to start training a 2nd.

Just look at your post:
"This game really caters to the predators"
"If you are prey, the game rules are stacked against you."
And yet somehow, despite "stacked rules" and CCP supposedly catering to mean people: "You can avoid the prey part most of the time if you were careful"
Utter nonsense.
One can stay in high sec and enjoy the game at their own pace without being "bothered" by other players just fine, and imo that is what most players do - most players do live in high sec afterall.

tbh even in 0.0 it's pretty easy to stay out of bother when you're making ISk. It does require a small amount of attention, but not so much that you can't mess about on forums or watch russian dashcam videos on youtube while drunk

Seriously though, most of the complaints I read about EVE on this forum are obviated by joining an organised group and getting the hell out of hisec. Multiple 0.0 entities are clamouring for new players, who will be given ships, skillbooks, training plans and infrastructure from the get go.
Why people think they should stay in 1.0 sec systems and scrabble for 500-unit veldspar rocks is a mystery to me.

Glad someone sees the point. This update feels like another mistake on the same scale as dust and that other cancelled project, but this one actually has a possibility to kill EVE itself. Although I found your rant about max isk per account odd. I don't follow EVE closely, but with how important the economy is to the game I would be surprised if there is an ISK cap and that a large portion of the gamers are already there.

more balls about f2p title headings, only game that comes close to warrant using that in the title I would say today is wildstar.. played eve 10 yrs now and all these sights going on about its going f2p is just disgusting behaviour. Why would they not title it "f2p but with restrictive elements" baiting swines. lol.
To me anyhow it is bad business and aching to the like of when they used to sell you broadband for 9mb line and you would get 5 but they said in the clause it is UPTO 9mb, thank heavens they made them use that in the sales pitch now at least.

Sorry, I just had to laugh at that. Ever heard of CODE, they were financed by the goons of course. High sec has never been safe ever. You can go on believing that if you like, but anyone who plays the game knows otherwise. Especially if you are relegated to T1 equipment, you are a walking target.
Yeah, that is the difference - you just hear about things...

It wasn't always like that. I started playing EVE in an early beta and played consistently until mid 2008 when I left for good. It started as a game with something for everyone. If you didn't want to be prey, you didn't have to. Stay in .5 or higher and you were golden unless you had a bounty on you or your corp had a war dec. A majority of the paying player base back then, were care bears. Those who got their jollies from creating misery for other players were in the minority, but they whined the loudest and after some changes to CCP staff, the minority won out and changes were made.
It was the best game I have played and it was a blast while I was in it. I hope this model brings some new blood to the game, but I fear that they way things are it will just bring new targets to grief.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

It looks like an unlimited duration trial account offer to me. The skills are pretty limited, so yeah you could play, and have fun too, but you'll be missing out on flying 90% of the ships and you'll never get to try many of the glamorous roles in the game. At the end of the day, CCP will want people to subscribe. This is a more attractive trial, and also a rather clever way to lure old players back in to their social connections in-game.
Yeah, that is the difference - you just hear about things...

My point isn't specifically about ISK. It's about what happened in a different game with a similar implementation.
The point is this. If there is any advantage to be had by the existing player base, they will find it and exploit it for all it's worth. If there isn't one, then the whole implementation probably isn't worth anything to anyone anyway.
The second point is if there is a way that CCP can find away to leverage this to monetize the existing player base on a longer term, They will do it. Even if it means allowing for advantages to be had by players exploiting this.
I watched as FunCom deliberately contributed to wrecking their own game long term to increase monetization from the existing players.
