There is the problem that young mind that have a tendency to violence are influenced by violent video games. Mature video games should only played by adults.

It has little to do with the video games and an incredible amount to do with child rearing.

A child who is reared entirely by video games, may turn out to be a psychopath, especially if they're playing GTA 5 all day and their parents aren't training them in right from wrong.  A child who is raised correctly by their parents, and also plays violent video games will be able to easily disassociate the violence in the game from real life.

It is dumb indeed, because the guy who did this was mentally ill and was in treatment, psychologically unstable people are prone for such things and yes, maybe video games with violence will contribute to that, but sane people, no matter how often and excessive they play such games, will never do such a thing just because they played games.

First they blamed movies, now they blame video games, its just stupid.

I think you are correct.  So what hes saying is we dont monitor our children's activities but it's not the parents fault its whatever we let our children do's fault.

So since there apparently seems to be no movement going to actually pay attention to our children as they grow up and monitor what they do, we should eliminate ever possible bad influence so we can continue to raise our children to do whatever they want.

Talk about denying responsibility.  And its why I have no children, I realize I wouldn't have the patience to raise them correctly so I did the responsible thing and didnt  have any, as opposed to having 3 kids I dont give a shit about, then blameing something or someone else for my failure to pay attention to them while they grow up.

Just a comment from a panicked Leftist government whose policies are failing as fast as their poll numbers.

Yeah SaxxOn...So many of those NW European countries are in such a miserable state of affairs with all their socialist policies....that's why they literally all have a much higher standard of living, less infant mortality, longer lifespans, the most upward mobility, the highest levels of post secondary education, the highest levels of participation in the democratic process, and literally the envy of the world in every measurable standard........ oh and I hope you're sitting down for this but how does the U.S. and it's long history of conservative right wing policies (especially in comparison to North-Western European countries) measure up against the rest of the developed world?  I'll give you a hint...........lol we're at the very bottom.......

I always try very hard to keep political commentary out of places where it doesn't belong but I cannot and will not allow some ignorant jack-ass to spew his/her political propaganda without at least forcing you to realize that the facts are totally and completely in contrast with everything you just said.

Please do us all a favor SaxxOn and go back to the Donald Trump rally where you came from and leave the forums for more mature people to use them for what they were intended for........

I can see this is going to be locked soon if people can't discuss the topic in a civil manor.

Its not that it can't be discussed in a civil manor. Its the truth has been outlawed in written and broadcast form, talk amongst yourselves until that is taken away.

Ac/Dc, DnD, FPS or RPG... Always the same tune... And before that it was Jazz.. Heck once upon a time it was literacy...

Society always need a external object to project that which it can not understand upon. It makes it easier to manage the fear.

Right now that external thing is videogames. As much as it sucks it is not like it will change any time soon. We simply have to do what we do... Post our side of things and then go about our daily life.

This have been a good conversation

You could blame it on the failure to make good video games.
Are you onto something or just on something?

More like the insane migration politics, here in Sweden migration to the country costs more the defense budget, how that is not seen as insane by the politicians is beyond me, but the leftist narrative is strong i guess. We have sexual assault on girls reported daily, and just saw another attack has been committed by a lone Syrian refugee in Germany, a pregnant woman among the dead. But guess people are more interested in the latest crap in some tv show than what is going on in real life.

@Sweede +1; Politicians would blame Candyland before the root cause.

Talk about low hanging fruit - just blame it on video games  and ignore the intolerable degeee of violence in the real world - just look at the news.

    So dumb.

Vlad the impaler must have played some wickedly violent video games in mid 1400s.....

And if games influenced people like that, why don't the good ideas stick?  lol.

There wasn't any violence before video games.

Perhaps someone did a survey of mmorpg.com players which lead them to the conclusion!

Politicians often say outrageous shit to get press and score points with some target demographics. That's all this is.
"Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community ... but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of the idiots”

Violent videos sure lead to to such acts, but it's not about violent video games, but the press coverage all these guys blowing themselves up or running people over get.

It's also interesting that nobody ever questions with regards to shootings how they acquired a gun in the first place. If the gun was legal, you should change the laws to make it illegal, and if it was illegal, maybe do you work and make sure nobody has illegal weapons, instead of trying to push the blame elsewhere?

They also never seem to connect the dots, that if you get bullied, you might want to spent time alone, and turn to playing. Maybe even to violent games specially, because (as De Maziere said about why the guy shot people) to feel strong. But then video games still aren't the problem. Nobody that is not totally broken anyway will get violent by playing video games, and even there the question is "why are these people like that". Why did he get bullied, why did nobody stop it, why was he not treated, or if he was, why was it not succesful. Etc.

It's like, you lay out someones life in a line reaching from here to the moon, but you only look at an arbitrarily chosen piece of at most 10 meters length and say "he did this and that and then he killed someone, therefore this and that made him violent".

I wonder what they would do if someone attends a speech of a politician and then go on a rampage. Would that politician be the reason? His speech? Speeches as such? Politics as such? They would probably find out that he saw a video game on a screen while passing a game store and that made him violent..

I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
