A new 'watercooler' blog article has been posted on the World of Warcraft community site that examines how PvP gear in the upcoming Legion expansion will be changing from the way it has manifested in Warlords of Draenor (and previous expansions). The article begins with a discussion of the history of PvP gear and the underlying philosophy behind the choices devs are making for how gear will become as useful out of PvP as it is PvP experiences.

Too much has changed about World of Warcraft. I honestly don't even recognize it anymore with the more I read about Legion. The classes are shadows of their former selves. I won't say that have an automatic "IWIN" button (ok, yeah, I know that's a junk item joke, but I'm being serious), but it certainly feels that way. And what has annoyed me...or maybe really torqued me off more than anything, is that it doesn't matter what you knew in one expansion, you end up relearning your class all over again in the next one. I played Hunters and Death Knights (yeah yeah I know, the ass end of every joke in WoW) and I learned how to play them properly. Rotations and all that. Now? They don't have the jobs they used to have. It's just a race to the end and do massive DPS as fast as possible. The game, for me, is just not enjoyable anymore. It was good at one time. Now? I'm not sure how to classify it. But it isn't good.

This game is finally coming into it's own. I support the pvp gear change and can't wait to finally just enjoy the games again. Awesome days ahead.

Very interesting. Overall, I think a positive move for PvP in WoW.

They are really tackling the "problem" with RPGs and PvP in general - as they said, how do you allow for power growth without making PvP unfair and nothing but a grinders min/max game?

They certainly have tried many things over the last decade.

In the end, they're pretty much doing what Destiny does.

Higher ilvl (Light) in Destiny gives you x% increases.

It's fair, you can get gear from any source and it helps you raise your ilvl and compete better.

The other thing that's coming to PvP that I'm in full support of is the separation of leader boards based on faction. As it stands, and due to the current human racial Every Man for Himself, human Alliance players take up HUGE numbers of the top 100 (and beyond). It's been a pretty depressing couple of seasons. That issue will likely go away with Legion when racials become Honor Talents.

I will say up front that I don't like PVP in WoW or any mmo currently for that matter. It's bad enough that PVE and PVP have to share spells so anytime a spell if considered OP in PVP it gets nerfed, often to the point that it is no longer useful in PVE. Now they want to have players use the same gear. So now anytime they make a change to gear for PvP it's going to effect PVE.

It's looking more and more like I'm going to skip this expansion and just hang up WoW for good. Not that I'm playing it anyway, but I thought of coming back for this expansion.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

The complaint though has been the disparity (reasons various) and simply splitting the leader boards won't remove that. Unless they intend to remove - or maybe normalise - player scores.

Active racials should be made PvE only, for example the cc nullification of human racial should only be used for cc from NPC not players. Of course there is Night elf shadowmeld, that will require a bit more thinking but i am sure if Blizzard wanted they could work something out for every racial to not effect PvP and make things more balanced.

Blizzards goal to make all classes invincible has killed pvp. Having 5+ defensive abilities and only 1 weak offensive one is not good balance. Having a healer that takes mutiple minutes to kill by a group of player in a bg that lasts 10min is not good balance. 2min cd trinket in a game with retarded amounts of cc is not good balance!
