Thank you Blizzard for this Open Beta. I was about to actually make the mistake of buying this tripe. It seriously is nothing more than TF2 with updated Pixar/Blizzard graphics. That is is. The locations make no sense other than to add flavor.

The "cart" is a hover-truck related to the future feel of the game. It is on path, but no pathing....but nobody driving either. At least with TF2's cart push, it makes sense that it's an old mine cart pushed along a mine track. This is apparently a self driving truck that needs people in the presence to drive? Really? Okay.

The "heroes" are completely forgettable and none too interesting. They're definitely quippy with talk during the game, but the mish-mosh of randomness in types, abilities, and styles is leaps and bounds of confusion. An attempt to put wacky in what are considered otherwise "realistic" maps.

Map design feels straight out of CoD. Narrow corridors, thin streets, 90 degree doorways to other doorways. This is a shooter that has random vehicles in the middle of the street at choke points...well, not random because they needed 'something' to provide cover, and what's better than a non-destructive bullet immune bus?

OverWatch has no weapon swaps or loadouts. What weapon you see is what you get. Not even seeing skins for weapons as those shown are ENTIRE HERO skins that change overall appearance. This is considered by some -myself included- as "dumbed down" from TF2's wide arrange of customization options: hats, character accessories, weapon choices, weapon skins, etc.

Overall this game isn't worth the $40 Blizzard is asking consumers to pony up for it. Maybe $20, sure. TF2 came bundled with The Orange Box back nearly a decade ago; for $50 that came with HL2, HL2-Ep1, HL2-Ep2, Portal, and TF2. A total of four HUGE single player campaign content alongside a mod-friendly TF2.

Have to agree with the posters above me. I'm glad they did the open beta so i didn't waste money on this game. Feels like a forced mixture of CoD and a MOBA, and it doesn't capture the fun of either.

Completely what I was expecting, both from the game and from the reactions in this thread, how predictable.

Still runs a million times better then that tripe called Battleborn.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

Well if I recall correctly, it was already being marketed as a TF2 clone anyway.... I like it. It feels fresh without feeling like it's gonna be over-saturated by 10 year old plebs who scream into your ear like a salty 5 year old in a CoD match.

It just needs more game modes (and for the love of Christ, NO MOBA GAMETYPES! That's the reason Battleborn is a piece of shite. Battleborn is essentially a first-person Smite. Disgraceful.) to flesh out the overall two that are already available. TDM.... maybe some 1/2 flag CTF... etc. Easy enough.

The ignorance in this thread... Yes, the game is inspired by TF2 but it is in no way a TF2 clone. Anyone who has put more than 10 minutes into the game can see that and for those who still claim it is a clone after playing it clearly had zero intent on playing it in the first play. They just want to use having logged into the game to justify their argument that it is a TF2 clone.

I have already made this argument in previous threads so I won't waste my time here. I am in no way trying to force this game on anyone and I understand that everyone has different tastes but please if you are thinking about trying the game do not listen to the TF2 fan boys and the haters. Give it a shot yourself while it is free and form your own opinion, I'm glad I did. I think it is a fun game to play casually

    I like it.

I do wish it had more modes than king of the hill, escort, and the third mode that is just a mix of the first two.
  • AalamrAalamr Member UncommonPosts: 98
I agree it could use more modes, but I say give it time. I'm sure more modes will be released eventually. I just hope they don't start vomiting heroes left and right and not worry about balancing first.

First 2 days it was fun, but after that this game is just plain boring.
  • rapatpamprapatpamp Member UncommonPosts: 144
I played a bit, will play more later, but it seems so bareboned.

    Anyway to each their own.

I see it as a huge mistake allowing players to play this game for free. They are going to lose a lot of the "I'll by everything just to relieve my boredom" crowd and that crowd is HUGE in today's gaming market. Most of the games released this past decade have lived off of these ignorant people.

Nothing will be gained from giving Overwatch an open beta other than lost revenue and potential players. I think Blizzard is buying into the hype themselves.

Game is going to be forgotten in a month or two. I see it falling below HOTS even.

In what ways is it not a tf2 clone apart from the price, graphics, and limited customization and game modes?

I heard WoW was an Everquest clone.  I think it still managed to do alright.

As for my opinion after playing it for a day- it's lots of fun and pretty addictive.  I'll probably be buying it.

I'm more a fan of Battleborn, because it feels deeper and has both PVE and PVP, but there's not denying that OW is a well made shooter. It's fun, if not super original, and for $40 could be a great time for fans of team-based shooters. I do wonder if it would have been better served as a F2P and monetized like LoL, to have a larger install base, but something tells me the Blizzard name will carry sales just fine.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

I came top in my second match and felt like I'd achieved everything this game has to offer. No progression. Uninstall.

Bland. Thx for letting me try it for free so I didn't waste money buying it.
