Like this mobile game which is awesome

To be honest, it looks like another variation of Game of War:Fire Age, except with cutscene visuals for combat resolution that you can only watch and not actually give commands to individual units as you would in most other RTS games.
Yes they tend to look good, but they also tend to be heavily P2W.
Honestly, not really impressed at all. :p

.. here is a better youtube video of that game, that contains actual gameplay.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a26ntunBAk
I know, I play it, it is a fun game. I also play Baldur's Gate II ,The Bard's Tale ,SWTOR, Bastion and Phantasy Star II on my Surface.

You don't need to be impressed. Based on your post history you are not impressed by much ;)
Besides, most MMOs are P2W as well. So what is your point?
True, i am not easily impressed, though lately i have been impressed by BDO, so much so that i play it, probably far more than i really should. I also play SW:TOR, Eve Online, DA:Origins and Dragons Dogma, all at 2560x1440 on a 28' 4k Monitor, while relaxing in a computer chair with variable vibration settings, sadly a slipped disk earlier this year made this something of a godsend, i also own a Kindle Fire, its a very useful device, i can browse the web with it if i want, but mostly i read books and watch the odd film etc. So its not like i don't see the value in mobile devices, but they are what they are, and for gaming, nothing comes close to replacing my Desktop PC.
I disagree however that most MMO's are P2W, although the same cannot be said about mobile gaming in general, in app purchases have after all, gained something of a reputation, i mean one wrong click and you buy $99 worth of gold in a mobile game, why is that even a thing anyway?

    PC Internet usage is dropping

ComScore, an online measurement specialist, has released new data that shows that less users are using desktop devices to access the Internet and are instead browsing on their smartphones and tablets.

The company has noticed a steep decline in the overall time people have spent online in the US using both desktop PCs and laptops.

In the past four months, desktop internet usage continued to fall and it has done so on a year over year basis. According to ComScore, it fell 9.3 percent in December of 2015, 7.6 percent in January, two percent in February and six percent in March. Some analysts have suggested that users have opted to browse on their mobile devices instead but before December of last year, desktop Internet usage had risen for 13 months straight.

    =============================

Most people are turning to mobile and detachables. I see cubicles at work with detachables and not desktops. They are powerful and mobile. Better for a more agile business environment.

it is bizzare to me but it is what it is.

Just like most articles and most people I have talked to think my most recient tablet purchase makes more sense then a chromebook and now that i have done it I am about to return it because a chromebook is waay better for my needs which in this context is that same needs as a mobile user....lol

    oh well.

I think the issue was the tablet you chose to buy. Not the fact that it was a tablet in and of itself
No I am pretty sure not so much. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 current generation purchased explictly for the use of media consumption and is considered the best option out there for consuming media (TV etc).

    nope...chromebook better.

regardless of that, I was fundamentally wrong about this OP and you can quote that.

so very well done and thanks. I am surprised but it appears the exact evidence is clear in the area that it was pertinent to my points. Thanks again. I will undoubtly never understand why someone would want to do their mobile computing using a phone or a tablet instead of a chromebook but I have seen people spend hours on a friggin phone which is so odd to me

I have a Samsung Chromebook and it is vastly under-powered compared to my Surface Pro Tablet. My Chromebook, just like they all are, are just Android tablets with a keyboard. It is less powerful than my Nook HD
My Surface Pro 4 has an i5, 8 Gigs of Ram, a 500 Gig SSD and Windows 10. It is a full computer with a detachable keyboard a light pen and a mouse. There is no comparison between a little Chromebook and a Surface Pro. The Surface Pro is a high end laptop replacement with power to run pretty much everything you throw at it.

just saying from a user experience standpoint my 3 year old $200 chromebook is better than what is currently considered the best tablet option for media playback. Not sure what to tell you other than to point out there are more than one chromebook model out there. some good, some great, some bad, some fast, some slow, some great resolution, some not good resolution.

No Chromebook ever made is better than a Surface Pro 4. Go look it up.
Absolutely agreed on this.  SP4's are fairly powerful even in laptop standards.

so on the price curve are we evaluating a $400 tablet with a $400 Chromebook?

because that is what I am doing and I am doing that because it makes fucking sense

and while you are looking at Chromebooks you might want to look at the Chromebook Pixel

Yeah I am aware of it Google just discontinued it. Though HP has made one but your number was $400 not $1000+
The Surface Pro 4 still blows it away
    what?

    let me illustrate by example:

    I am comparing a $400 tablet to a $200 3 year old Chromebook.
    I am NOT comparing a $300 chromebook to a $1200 Tablet

I have no idea where you got $1000 price from

If you want to compare a $1000+ tablet to a chromebook then you need to compare it to the Pixel, the next Pixel or one of the other top of the line Chromebooks coming out

do NOT compare a $1000 tablet to a $300 chromebook and consider it a win,.

please for the love of god PLEASE! compare two things that are at least close in the same dollar mark

You can actually get a SP3 now for around 400 dollars.. it would still blow away any comparable chromebook.

can you please provide evidence of that. I dont have the time but I bet I can find a price to performance that is better in the chromebook universe then in the tablet universe.

also not that this exercise is related to the OP I do want to point out I dont think the mobile world is being taken over by hordes of people buying $1000 tablets. I think its likely cheap ones. It doesnt discount this exercise we are about to do but its something to ponder all the same

    http://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-surface-pro-3-vs-google-chromebook-pixel-specs-comparison/

SP3 was more scalable - has more support - generally better input.  Below is in comparison to the pixel itself. They stayed with the SP3

    http://www.zdnet.com/article/11th-hour-decision-surface-pro-3-stays-chromebook-pixel-returned/

Below is a generalization between a chromebook and a tablet.  Any tablet really..  spoiler, the tablets win.

iPads are not cheap. Heck I know at least 6 people with an iPad Pro. That is outside of work. At work? Seems everyone has an iPad or a Surface.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Vs Google Chromebook Pixel

"As you can infer from the comparison table below, Surface Pro 3 hardware has many advantages over Chromebook Pixel like weight, camera, stylus support to name a few. Also, Chromebook Pixel has some advantages like improved battery life due to new Intel CPU, 16GB RAM option and new Type-C ports. But when you look at the overall value of the devices, Surface Pro 3 beats Chromebook Pixel hands-down. The main reason is the Chrome OS which powers Chromebook Pixel. Chrome OS is a glorified web browser with few offline capabilities. Just like the previous Chromebook Pixel, this one will also be tougher for Google to sell."

yeah I made a purchasing choice based on an article that suggested on average tablets are better for the same reason this article is suggesting.

    This part:
Chrome OS is a glorified web browser with few offline capabilities. Just like the previous Chromebook Pixel, this one will also be tougher for Google to sell.

Its something I could not disagree with more. Yes what they say is factually true (that chromebook is online only) but to be completely frank that is 99.999% of the reason I need a tablet, to be online. So I remain unimpressed and frankly a bit bewildered by consumers response to tablets as well as the media.

and my personal experience using both a chromebook and tablet I wouldnt touch any tablet with a 10 foot pole.

    This:

cost nearly exactly the same as this
with a keyboard and the 64gb version

I get that Sean, I do.
I replaced my work laptop with a Surface Pro 3 and then a Surface Pro 4. It is a hybrid. It is a tablet but designed with a keyboard and mouse in mind for serious work. I do all my PowerPoint presentations on it. I travel a lot so I use it for gaming as well. I fly to upstate New York Tuesday and I am glad I have a device like the Pro 4 to do everything I need it to do and then some while away from my Desktop PC. It is a Windows 10 device so it synches with my Desktop and my Xbox Live account. I love it.
so it brings up a question regarding the OP.

is it classified and counted as a tablet or a laptop when these studies are done.
not that I care really just a curious point of observation.

Anyway my Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 after one night of use is about to be sent back

That is the question isn't it?  SP4 runs on a real windows 10 version, not a mobile version,  but the actual hardware is classified as a tablet.  So it's really a "tablet" that runs PC software.
