No. The definition of what a 'success' is today is basically not achievable. There is no way for any new MMORPG to be a success to the masses.

I think the real question has and always will be, does anyone really care to play it?  Pretty sure the masses did a two thumbs down even before the hype train derailed.

I think people are more likely to play Black Desert, knowing that it WON'T be the game for them, then spend time waiting on a game that has been put on hiatus probably for good.

Gamers are impatient, crap reigns king so long as the waiting period is short.
