the only solution i see could work while keeping the housing non instanced is by massively increasing the plot availability in every zone.

Treat your house situation similar to real life when the government relocates families because their houses are in the way and they need the land to build something else. It happens in every country. Get some compensation in game and relocate as well. But again, for that to work properly XL/Trion need to increase the amount of plots in the game.

You know, I wish Trion never picked ArcheAge up. Not saying it would have been perfect with another publisher, but I'm positive another company would have done some things better.

Its not good enough plain and simple.  If the core of your game isn't good enough to build momentum and growth, small tweaks and patch's even expansions wont cut it.  Final Fantasy  had to rebuild the game from the ground up to make it popular and that game just continues to grow.  There is no real recovery once the merges start.  Its a sign your game has peaked and is now retracting back to some sustainable population.

Not sure how far FF14 can still grow anymore, there still at 500K to 700K like last year, this expansion pretty sure will hit them over 1 mil, but go back down about the same rate. If ff 14 was still growing there be way over the 1 mil part way befor the expansion, but is not showing is growing just showing people buying the game but not many are staying.

Like arche age will grow a little but never hit that high number if there still updaing the game, like ff14 cuz the nature of the game.

But anything, arche age and ff14 doing fine with the numbers they have, if not start seeing it with the updates of there games.

Like any mmo after a expansion, they never keep all the rush of people trying out a big new update, just in general how expansion are now.  But for ff14 having 500K to 700K is due people trying to find out how many sub with there numbers they made this year. Last year report with all 3 games that Square Enix under 1 mil players.

If I had agenda, I would of said ff14 sucks, arche age better trying bring down one game to bring a other game up, but there both good games but they'll never be the great all time games in how the nature of both games are, we will not see much of think outside of the box mmo for very long time.

How do you think WoW got to 12 million at one time.  Granted its a different time and FFXIV isn't WoW, but we're not talking about FFXIV having a player base of 12 million either.  FFXIV is in a growing phase and picking up steam.  Growing a player base past the one million mark is very doable for a game like FFXIV.  As a matter fact, I'd be willing to bet my house to your doughnut that FFXIV will eventually have a stable player base of over one mil and perhaps even grow well beyond it.

WoW came in the right time when mmo in general was still trying be difference and people found there system better, then came the wow clones they was doing same thing what wow was doing, but didn't find it new and exciting, after spending so much time, thats not only thing what made wow big but that was good start.

But mmo are not trying to be difference from each other, there trying be all the same, but sure they will grow get there own community around it, but never grow to a big that wow did if they keep thinking the same way.

And I'm still not saying that FF14 or Arche Age going fail there doing good on the numbers they have, they will grow but to a point.

But in a year we can come back to this, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but both games still have not pass the 1 million mark or higher what they have, then pretty much there not failing they'll will be here for very long time, just not grow like wow did.

Well its, final. The server mergers oops I meant Evolution is not open for discussion.

TrionBrasse is online now Regarding removal of posts: this is only undertaken by the moderators when a post is reported for being in violation of the forum guidelines. Any and all posts with reasonable, constructive comments remain, I promise you.

Regarding sentiment: straw polls are always, always biased in result. Sorry guys, they are not even close to reliable.
That said, the Evolution needs to take place to address issues of server support, game economies and gameplay/social reasons. It is not up for discussion. What IS up for discussion is how we handle the process to make it as reasonable and equitable as possible. The best feedback has been incredibly helpful, with a group of minds that has actively aided us in planning for better process and addressing aspects of the Evolution that we had not yet even considered. I thank you all!

Regarding my private messages: As much as I would love to respond to all of the private messages, I don't. Here's why: I will often respond on forums because when a question is asked, my response is viewed by many, many people. Even then, I have to repeat an answer multiple times in order to respond to the people who did not see it the first time. It is just a crazybad use of time to do this sort of messaging one at a time. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond personally.
On the other hand, find me at any given game conference that Trion is at and I'll be pleased to sit up ALL NIGHT to talk ArcheAge and our other games, especially if there is beer involved. =)

FAQ updates: we continue to round up feedback and we are looking to get more questions answered and clarifications given to post tomorrow. Again, please remember that we are months off yet. We won't have definitive answers to many queries until we have the time to evaluate, explore and test the technical side of things.

I am so sure that when the new servers are up, they will probably

sell $150.00 packages for early start haha.

ArcheaAge is full of freedom of choises, some can in a free way choose to spend 150€ or even 150.000€ and dont "win", others can free chose to spend 0€ and "win". Both ways can provide alot of fun in the best mmorpg made in last 10years or more.

People claim was unceptable to wait 8h in queue to play a game (hapened to me too), demand more servers (not me), they gave them, now its necessary to reduce the ammount of servers, ArcheAge is not just one more generic mmorpg around where doing it is easy, any solution will make some people unhappy, any solution...

Server merges? They should be working on fixing/addressing why people left the game.  P2W Cash Shop? Hackers ruling the game?

And this my friends is a specimen of the rare Fanboi species. It's very hard to observe one in the wild while it is doing it's mating dance because it get's scared away really fast by reason and facts. In this rare instance however we can observe the full dance and song routine that tries to distract and mislead others with it's display of lies and hyperbole and attract other Fanbois for mating.

Please do not scare it away, we may witness the even rarer mating between two Fanbois, something that has never been observed in the wild before.

I might of just pissed myself that was so funny.  Apparently having bad choices that involve spending money is considered good because its still "freedom of choice".  Sounds like a great foundation for a video game, I cant wait to play.  Part of the fun it seems is in avoiding all the bad real money investment options that are available in the cash shop.  WEEEEEE!!!!!

You make fun of my opinion because you thing its what the cool guys do, its ok, its my opinion and will continue to be no matter of any trolling text you may write.

Anyway, long time i didnt come here, holidays and when have free time to PC im playing the game i still thing its the best ever released, even with all the "bad parts" that i agree they exist.

Freedom of choise is one of the best things we can have imo, never say bad investments were... but nevermind, even if i try again you might not understand.

I gave up on AA long ago and never spent money on it due to the land shortage, but honestly I thought at some point they'd run out of whales to harpoon, the land hackers would go away, and someone like me, with some patience and the willingness to pay $15 a month, would be able to have a little spot of land somewhere on a quiet server to farm and build on.

I never thought the devs/publishers would have the audacity to merge any NA servers, at least not for several years. Especially since players spent hundreds (some claim to have spent thousands) in real money on certs and to buy land from land hackers who stole it the first time.

The greed and disregard for players Trion/XL is showing is just breathtaking. It's so horrible it's almost impressive.

They removed all owned land from both servers, sent all the blueprints back, and when the new server opened, it was a massive land grab all over again. Neither server had priority, you had to run and fight for the land you got, just like on launch (but worse because everyone is leveled and geared now). I would expect something similar to happen here. The only difference may be if Trion recognizes the need for different time zones and availabilty, and opens up only certain zones and housing areas, and fills them in time slots.

I believe you are right, but in the KN mergers didn't everyone get mailed their house/farm plans, furniture and building materials? So all they had to do was find a plot and build. Of course when you merge there just simply isn't going to be enough plots to go around so many will miss out. Especially guilds who have multiple plots joined with mansions etc.

And of course, if you are not there to log in within the first 5 minutes of the server opening you are screwed. All the plots will go in nano-seconds.

I suspect Trion will know this will lose them customers, but they are willing to wear that because the near dead servers must be losing them money.

It's not about money loss - if it were - they wouldn't wait til Q4 to do this - it would be happing like next week lol.

Higher pop servers provide a better player experience - a better player experience means happier players- a happier player  is a customer who is likely to spend more money.

This is why any game merges servers - to improve player experience because that always leads to higher profits.

A lot of players will loose their land they have worked so hard to own and maintain all these months.

Please tell me how loosing land will provide for a "better player experience"?

Land or no land. P2W or Sub... there is only one thing that remains constant in all MMO's regardless of type/genre/setting. An MMO with no people is dead.. Even if you have zero land, if the economy is vibrant, fishing parties are full, packs are being carried, the game will feel alive and therefore feel fun. Maybe it will be less fun than before when you had land. I will not argue with you on that point. But one and only one thing is for certain, the game will NOT be fun for anyone if the world is empty and devoid of life.

The greed and disregard for players Trion/XL is showing is just breathtaking. It's so horrible it's almost impressive.

I always love these kinds of posts, tales of woe about land costs and scarcity. I played on Ollo from release. I, like many of my peers, was not able to access the game the second the servers went up due to log in issues. When I did get in, I did find that many spots were taken.. but hope was not lost. I quickly leveled 6 toons, and within 1 day i had farmhouse down in Ynny, a Mahdevi scarecrow at the water patch, and two 16x16 farms right next to my farmhouse in Ynny and an assortment of 8x8s around it. I played until well after the auroria patch and saw more than a few 16x16s go up for grabs. These was always someone spamming for land sales, and hell i even bought 3 adjacent water farms in Villa for 100g total. The tales of Woe are greatly exaggerated, and you didnt need to spend any real money other than a sub to have access to land the first few days. If you werent on and came later, all you had to do was save up to buy it from people selling it. It wasnt that hard to get yourself a 16x16 somewhere as a starter plot. Yea sure, land hackers got a lot of spots on auroria, but land hackers have nothing to do when a server first launches. Im not here to say that AA is great and has no problems and that the land system is totally fine.. hell, i did quit for a reason ( not land ). But to whine about spending thousands of $$ on land.. cmon, you are either lying or just so dumb that i cannot feel sorry for you since you would no doubt have probably lost that $$ in a ponzi scheme or something else equally stupid.

Trion have announced on their forums that mergers will be occurring along with server transfers later this year, either Q3 or Q4.

They state they don't plan to merge servers in the traditional sense, they are planning something different. We all wait to see what they mean by this, because with the non instanced housing a normal merge will upset a lot of people. Lots of players have spent many months building their houses and plots, usually at great expense. To see that wiped would be heartbreaking.

I've described some of it on my post of Server Merge 2015, there are apparent problems for whales who built large properties, and invested resources well past value of design for them. The plan for those players is still unclear, but they might be compensated.

Its a complex system which they are planning, and the steps will be somewhat different than in normal mmorpg's since circumstances about land are unique.

    Q. What will be included in the compensation packages?

As of now, we’re considering a flat amount of tax certificates and labor potions for most of the packages. They’ll also likely included a unique title. Eligibility, distribution method, and final amounts of each item included are still up for discussion. The amount of tax certs or labor pots distributed by a pack will be the same for all characters who are eligible to receive the pack and will not be scaled based on current land ownership.

I don't think this game came out that long ago did it?  There is a server merge already?  I thought this game sounded interesting when I first heard about it until I found out that Trion was involved, then lost interest.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I just read on the main forum that everyone being merged will end up in the starting zones, too, instead of wherever they logged out last.

I bet the hackers won't have that problem, though.

For everyone else, there's Mastercard. Just swipe your CC, buy gold, and use that buy land from the hackers.  For many of you that will be familiar from the first time you bought land...the land you don't have anymore because of the mergers.

I'm glad I never spent money on Archeage, and I will never spend money on anything Trion or XL has a hand in going forward.
