First off, I want to state that I've been playing mmorpg games since 1998 just a few months after Ultima Online first released. Back in my Navy days on a dial up connection serving on my USS destroyer. I would sit in the office on that ship where I could plug my laptop into a phone jack and play until all hours of the night, go catch an hour or two of sleep before the next work day in port, and then as soon as everybody left the ship the next day except for the on-duty crew, I'd be back on that laptop exploring the world of Britania in Ultima Online, and later I rememember being blown away at how great I thought Asherons Call graphics were by comparison! Haha! I remember thinking "Wow, Amazing! The clouds actually float above in the sky!" LoL. True story though.

To this date, I have played well over 100 different mmorpg games... and no game swept me away and showed me the sheer depth of gameplay as did Asheron's Call. After leaving the harsh PvP world of Ultima Online, I naturally went for the all-pvp server of Darktide in Asherons Call. Probably my greatest gaming experiences were in the virtual world of Dereth here, and I made some incredible friendships in that world that I never imagined could be possible through an online game.

Anyhow, last year I took a trip back to Dereth, and I made videos for YouTube which I believe should help any new player quickly learn the ropes for the steep learning curve found in this game. It is much easier then it was at it's launch no doubt, but still compared to all the current mmos which hold your hand, this game could still be a little daunting I think for the newer mmo crowd.

So whether you have never played Asheron's Call, or you are considering coming back to a long lost "love"... These videos show you how to get started and also show you exactly how to maneuver through every facility quest, every step to take, and exactly what paths will get you safely to the end of some of the maze like dungeons.

I promise you that while the graphics of Asheron's Call might turn you off initially, if you give the game half a chance, and level up to level 50 (out of a max 275 I think it is today), then you just might see why this game is still being supported today, a full 15 years after it's original launch back in October of 1999. These videos will definitely help you get to level 50 quickly, easily, and without requiring you to seek out assistance. - You'll even learn how to have fun, how to buy your first house, and even hear me sing happily on one video as I enjoy the game.

Here is a complete list of my Asheron's Call YouTube videos...

    I wouldn't call it a steal - yet...

However, when the whole "private servers, custom rulesets" stuff will go live as well later the year, then the 10 bucks will be a really good offer for an entry ticket to an interesting experiment. I think it's a great move from Turbine, they will shake up the mmo market - or at least the modding and UGC-fan part of it.

    And OP, nice videos.

AC1 was definitely a game of its time, its one i really enjoyed playing back then, it was far more successful than AC2, it was almost as if they didn't understand why AC1 was so popular when they made AC2 which was a shame, perhaps if they revamped the graphics of AC1 they could re-release it, i think personally the game was good in enough in its other aspects. :o

In my humble opinion Asheron's Call is the greatest MMORPG of all time

Amazing game, a big loss to the MMO world. UO, AC, EQ are three games that have never been duplicated!

I thought we would have private servers by now, but I guess that never came to be
