how is pvp in wildstar?

evdaezevdaez nocityPosts: 127Member Uncommon

Before sinking $$ to this game, i just wanna know how good is the pvp in wildstar.  I hate to include `wow` in a discussion on another game's forum, however i need to point out that i play wow exclusively for the pvp alone: arena

Im not really concerned bout wildstar's pve or raiding, if the pvp appeals to me... im willing to play this game for months. So to those pvpers, i need your input to list the positive/negative aspects of pvp like

1) Game balancing( are melee/casters op, are crowd controls op?)

2) How gear affects pvp

3) Does addon/macro gives you any advantage?

4) How long does it take to farm entry level pvp gear

Thank you for reading. I am on the fence right now. Between continuing my wow sub or going on a new journey in wildstar.

To be perfectly fair, WS PvP is nearly identical to WoW PvP in every way. Stalkers are amazing in PvP is the best advice I can give. It really brings nothing new to the table on the PvP front, the PvP seems to be more of an afterthought as the game is very PvE progression based.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.

only difference i've seen is the combat system the rest is pretty much the same.. compared to wow

Atm pvp id pretty broken due to issues with how rating works. If you are interested in reading up on it you can go to reddit/r/wildstar

an example of the issue can be seen here:

If you dont care that much for rating, (which you should since wildstar pvp is dependant on gear, regardless of what people might say) - then pvp is fine. Its still a confetti fest of telegraphs, but its pretty fun as combat in wildstar is quite entertaining imo. But seeing as gear heavily factors into your survivability and your competitive damage vs. other pvp'ers you can get stuck on low rating because of the current issues with the rating system.

One thing new that wildstar does bring to the tabl over wow is the telegraphed healing, I'm stricktly magey dps in games, but I was surprised to find that healing is really quite satisfying - to the extent I'm going to specialise ranges healing in pvp, dps in pve.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
