Item Timers?

Enjoying the game immensely, and there is always plenty to do. I notice quite a lot of items and mounts have timers on them, for example 6 days. Haven't found anything on the website or forums about this. I'm assuming at the end of the 6 days these items just disappear, and you'll have to repurchase?
