Why is no-one talking about this game/expansion?

I tried Age of Wushu when it first released for the western audience and I couldn't puzzle through it.

Everything was designed and translated so poorly that I felt it was an uphill battle to actually learn the game.

Now I started playing again yesterday with the new starting zone/story and the game is amazing.

The user interface seems to have been cleaned up massively, the chat has been improved, the translations are better although some of them are hilariously bad.

One of them had me burst out laughing when an old man tells you, "The sword fight on top of Mount Hua is bullshit" or something along those lines. In retrospect the text itself isn't that hilarious but in context it was great.

The cheesy cutscenes for the story are fun to watch even though they aren't up to par with what I am used to.

The game has been improved what has to be at least 300% from the new expansion.

At least in a new player's point of view. It actually feels like a quality game now.

I highly recommend that anyone who tried Age of Wushu and couldn't get into it make a new character and start with the Tempest of Strife storyline.

Keep in mind though some of the translations are still sketchy but they still get the point across (this sometimes makes it more entertaining because it feels like a poorly translated kung-fu movie). Plus with the auto-pathing system you shouldn't have any problems.

See you in Wushu!

Being in an MMO lull I actually decided to return to Wushu and check out the expac and was also pleasantly surprised. The UI feels way better, the translations are intelligible (if still pretty bad in some areas, still way better), and I actually understand what the hell my skills do. The new player experience seems to flow a lot better mechanically even if the story is hilariously awful (for instance, one of the character's name says (Played by Jet Li) after it in dialogue).

This game is still very much a niche game and I don't expect it to "catch fire," in the west but it is definitely worth a look now for anyone who wants to try something different. Just go in with an open mind and it is pretty fun. The F2P model leaves  a lot to be desired though, I think if you ever want to play seriously youll have to invest

Too many people on this site tried this and passed on it and forgot it.  Rampant bots and gold sellers on top of a game that is pretty difficult for many to get into to begin with. I honestly found myself looking for distractions while trying to play I was so bored. After playing this game I find insurance seminars and filling out hospital paperwork riveting.

Thanx for the post OP, I wasn't aware of the changes and I will give the game another try!

For anyone returning after a long absence/trying the game again/for the first time - the new server is (Silver Viper is it?) is a great choice. It's a new server made after the changed intended to eliminate botting/duping/gold spamming and it seems to have worked pretty good. Plus a more even playing field for new players

Glad you and others enjoy the new expansion.

For those who played the native (Chinese) version, Tempest of Strife (ToS) is a many months old expansion so all our excitement is on the forthcoming Path of Chivarly (PoC) expansion out in less than 3 months image

The developer indicated that it will take at least 4 months to translate new material in PoC to English after it is released in China.

Here is a peek on what we can expected in AoW: PoC

Total  size of game world in PoC will be  about 800 sq km versus 97 sq km in ToS (non-seamless world but zone maps can be up to 4000-5000m per map edge or 20 sq km in size)

Around 700 sq km of the world is in free-roam wilderness when a player takes a adventure journey beyond the existing core AoW world from their personal housing.

A maximum of 10 players can randomly matched per dynamic layer in a map zone. The new maps are designed to cater for low player density and personal stories.

Players in adventure mode inherits all consequences (personal, moral and faction imposed) occured in core gameplay but these are are modified by a "precept" ruleset. Beyond this restriction, player can freely PvP and pursuit other activities they inclined - exploration, farming for resources or PvE.

There are no safe zones in wilderness and placement of resources in the wilderness map zones are partially randomized and respawn very slowly or not at all.

New weapon types like whip, axe will be added with exotic weapons to be followed.

AoW: PoC will received an updated graphics engine and the expansion will have more than 10Gb of new content.

Same here, when I tried the game I liked it overall, it was deep and interesting but seemed a little  cluncky and I could not commit to keep playing. I am willing to revisit it now. Thanks for the heads up.

I really liked this game, and was the leader of the Shaolin school for a while but would only come back if they really fixed the server latency for East Coast people, I had to use a ping booster to PvP properly which is a joke... then the hackers/bots/etc but otherwise loved the game.

I was having a blast for about a week but then I suddenly got hit by a wall again when I realized that unless I attack AFKers I lose pretty much every time. I think this is a product of the fact that this game, even more so than EVE, has a knowledge = power thing going on. The players that know how to play aren't really sharing, the community isn't BAD per se, just not very helpful. The population is also really low, and seemingly getting lower, and the few people that remain apparently barely even speak English it seems (not that I care, it just compounds the not understanding the game thing).

Also another thing I am not liking is that AoW has a big, beautiful game world that is completely empty. Everyone hangs out in Chengdu except to go do school spy or AFK as a patrol. Open World PVP is a little misleading because you will rarely find anyone more than a minute away from Chengdu. And along those lines... World PVP has no point that I can see other than the thrill of killing someone. It's all penalty with no gain. Im not advocating full-loot, but there should be some sort of incentive to balance the risk of going to jail or getting disciplined by your school. I've heard the argument before that in real life you aren't rewarded for crime. Well, that isn't true... if you rob someone, you keep their junk until you are caught. I'd like to see some sort of risk/reward thing here, unless there is one I just can't comprehend?

Then again maybe I just suck at the game or need a better guild lol
