I got a hankering to visit Wizard101 again. It's been years since I last played (Celestia had just released).
Instead of deleting all my characters (only get 6 to start with) on my original account (which I wish to keep because they have "Crown Items" (real money) I do not want to lose), I'd like to create a new account and start all over.
Well... guess what... This process is a PAIN IN THE ASS!
In order to create a new account, it "appears" (I have seen no way around this) that I HAVE to go through a whole wizard creation BEFORE creating a new account. Why?
--In order to contact KingsIsle customer service about account creation, I HAVE to create an account.
--In order to post a question about account creation on their message boards, I HAVE to create an account.
Does anyone else see the see the folly of this course?
I DO understand that some hurdles need to be in place to discourage spammers, but when those measures greatly interfere with legitimate users, it needs to be looked at.
I have the game installed. ALL I NEED IS A NEW ACCOUNT! Why all this rigmarole? Just let me create an ccount, PLEASE!
I know KingsIsle visits here and posts, so I am posting here instead of on their own website, for which, I apologize to MMORPG.com.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

We're glad to hear that you want to continue your adventures in Wizard101. Since you last played, several worlds, spells, pets and features have been added to the game, and you can continue the story with your existing characters provided you have access to the account. For information on all the updates since you last played, visit https://www.wizard101.com/game/community/updatenotes and use the menu in the upper right corner to read up on what you've missed.
As for creating a new account, going through the 'Wizard Creator' takes almost as much time as it did for you to post on these message boards. Alternatively, if you know your current account login, you can simply add a new account to your Family of Accounts and skip the Wizard Creator questions altogether. This will also link your existing account with your new account, allowing you to transfer Crowns (but not items) between your own accounts.
If you have questions about your account, you do not need to contact us through the website, you can reach us directly at [email protected] via EMAIL.
As a friendly reminder, though, the language you used on these message boards is not appropriate for our gaming community.
But if KingsIsle let you play the game without creating a character, your entire game experience would be just watching the empty character selection screen, wouldn't it?
I bet you're the only person who's ever wanted to play the game without a character.
Since the Questioner has already played Wizard101, he knows that you can't do anything until he creates a character, which takes 10 minutes, at most ,and the tutorial, which takes about the same amount of time (and can be skipped).
I think that he is referring to Character slots. In other games, you can purchase additional character slots. In Wizard101, there are 7 Schools of Magic yet we only have 6 character slots. If we want to try all 7 Schools, one must be deleted. That deleted character was advanced with considerable time spent ... and even tediousness to get out of the Free Zone. We become fond of that character, as well.
KingsIsle has a vast Marketing capability: micro-transactions galore in the game; purchase game cards at Drug Stores, large stores like Target,, even Military PXs (though they are named something differently than when I was a Dependent) ... and you can buy things online outside of the game. Therefore, it isn't beyond KingsIsle's abilities to be able to allow us to purchase what is truly a sensible thing ... let us play all 7 Schools with the a new character slot. We have been asking for that 7th slot since after the Launch. It's not like no one ever talked about it.
Why would we want to play all 7 Schools? Because a Wizard doesn't know the full abilities and power of a School of Magic until they get past the Free Zone . And, we are better at some Schools vs others. I have played since Beta and then Launch. That is a lot of years ... I wouldn't know of some of the game's advances (see them in action vs words in a newsletter) unless I started start a new Wizard.
We can re-purchase training points; we can buy a new hairdo; but we can't play all 7 Schools of Magic unless we open an account using a different email account. I don't know how you then purchase from KingsIsle with a credit card. You can't change the name on the credit card though the email account name could be different.
I do say that though I regret deleting my last Wizard in order to try Life School, I did see that there had been positive changes in the beginning of the game; the Free Zone has been speeded up a bit.. I liked that ... it made me very happy ... Any new changes outside of the Fre Zone? I don't know becuse I'm still bogged down there. And, I feel terrible because I deleted a Wizard to try one that ended up not being suitable for me.
I wish that KingsIsle would allow us buy a new character slot and also come up with Character Paths so that if I decide I want to play the game I might have to still do tedious questing in the Free Zone but it would be geared more towards the needs of my School of Magic. We have to go from Level 1 to level 100 ... a huge huge huge amount of time
Recently, Neverwinter gave away a Pack which gave a new character slot. I was overjoyed and had great respect for the game's developers when I saw just how much they had changed the beginning gameplay. I started in Beta and played since Launch. The game is no longer bogged down in the early stages; better tutorials are provided as you advance; and even some gear is given so that you don't die repeatedly in the low level battles. If Neverwinter can do it, so can Wizard101, especially if someone is willing to pay for it.
