Guys, are you mad at zenimax right now?

They add the Imperial edition and people start getting all crazy.

Okay, well opinions are opinions right? Whatever. Are you mad at zenimax right now?

Thoughts? I know im not mad at all. Who cares about a horse or a new race. If you want to spend the extra money you deserve it right? (And its not like its OP or anything.)

I don't even want to play the race, or use that horse, so I'm not mad. If people want to pay for things like that then they can go ahead and do it. As long as they aren't paying for power than why should I care about it?

all this talk about eso got me to pre-purchase a reg dig copy.

I guess even bad publicity is good.

Did you research it first or did you just say, this game is getting attention and i want it!

Jk. But have fun with it.

Not really mad about the Imperial race, but not a fan of the any race any faction thing. I have listened to interviews in the past and this was not part of the game but i understand the game was still in beta or alpha so they have the right to change things.  Just not what i like but still gonna give it a shot because i like many other things in the game.

As I said in one of the other threads, I have gone from being excited about this game to hoping it is a huge failure. I don't think I will buy the game now (and I am not sure why I am even posting here any more).

That is accurate - maybe change the subject line?

    Sure, if you insist pal.

You WANT it to be a failure?

    1. You are a cold, cold person. Its just a friggen mudcrab, horse, and new race. Yes you can go to any race but wtf? Why does it matter all that much.

    2. I bet you will buy this game. Honestly you will probably forget about this once its released.

No. Disappointed they took the race restriction off though. They just castrated the uniqueness of the alliances and made them bland just like WvW is in GW2, so PvP is now going to be which color team will have the most Nords.

I still look forward to playing through the story and all the other PvE though while riding my white horse as an Imperial duel wielding warrior throughout Tamriel since I really don't feel like playing a Altmer Priest/Mage anymore because I don't really plan to do much PvP.

Not angry lol, but I don't like the precedent it sets for future games. If people are so accepting of it then they will continue to do it. It'd be like if Blizzard only allowed you to play as a panda in MoP if you bought the collector's or digital deluxe edition. It's not something I think is worth making yourself angry over, but I still don't like and I don't think anyone else should like it either because there is no reason to like it. It's not a "bonus". It's a race that could be a part of the base game but they just made it "exclusive" instead to make more preorder money. I don't care about mounts and pets and that sort of thing, but a race should be available to all. I can understand not minding it, but for people to praise Zenimax and try to defend this decision makes no sense. You are a consumer and shouldn't be trying to defend a big company that doesn't even know or care you exist. You aren't doing anyone any favors.

Mad is too strong a word.  Annoyed, yes.  Might not buy because of it?  Check.  But mad?  I try to reserve that for something serious.  Like Chinese workers jumping off the roof of Apple sweatshops.

Not mad at all.  Really, really happy with them.

ZOS didn't make the business call, that was Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Media.  But regardless, lack of race locks and addition of Imperials is nothing but pure win!

Having played beta, and not wanting to say TOO much, I will say this: if you play through the story, you will feel that DAOC faction pride I guarantee you.  Race-locks or no this is so far from the GW2 team colors 2-weeks sports match with no context or lore.

The factions are so awesomely diverse, even with all 9 of the original playable races running around (as NPCs) in all the faction lands.  They are even deeper and more interesting than the DAOC factions.

Moral of the story: your worries are unfounded and by level 10 you will be raring to get into the fight for your faction.

The only way I would get mad is if they made a huge game changing decision after the game has been released and I already payed for it, but when the game is still in development the devs can do whatever that they think is best for their game and their business. And by huge I mean something like SWG, not things like adding new races or mounts.

For anyone who is mad, they really should be mad at them selves for thinking that games dont change in their development time frame from the first pieces of information they got about the game since announcement no matter what the developers initial plans were for their game.  Even single player games go through big changes from the time they are announced to release.

I did not want to say this but, yeah i played the beta too and i totally agree. (Its kind of why i was saying that it does not even matter.) The lore and story will have you not even caring about the races you see running around.

Mad is clearly not the right word at all.  I feel more like they tipped their hand and showed us what kind of company they really were.

Am I still going to try ESO?  Sure, I mean I'm playing swtor right now it's not like I have standards.  But now it's not like I'll be shocked if their endgame is a horribly unfinished mess or when I see their nickle and dime cash shop that they may or may not wait to go full f2p before installing.

  • goboygogoboygo Member RarePosts: 2,141

No I'm not 12 years old, I'm not mad at a computer game, or the developers for charging money for their product.  I understand how business works, and I understand what's fair and reasonable.  Spending 59 bucks on a game that may have costs upwards of 200 million to make is very reasonable, paying an extra 20 bucks for even more is still okay.

Playing games for free and being nickel and dimed every tens steps DURING MY GAME is not okay.  I would pay a 100 bucks one time to start to play a game, then pay 15 bucks every month automatically for the whole game,  then pay 100 bucks 40 times, or pay 200 bucks 80 times etc. just to play one game.

For me its about immersion.  Playing computer games is one of the cheapest damn hobby's there is.  And people wanting shit for free has all but ruined this industry.

Company's are never "nice". Not these types. Not most of the commercials you see on TV either. They want money, is that hard to get?

I think it is BS to offer this kind of content for CE on a sub game.  This seems like it is clearly a quick run for the $$$ of the fans of the title.  I could personally care less about the race since I don't know what an Imperial is, but I am against withholding this type of content.  Or the "any race any faction"  for prepurchase.  If that doesn't smell fishy to you then what does?

All that said,  I may fork over the $ to play the game when the time comes.  I do enjoy PvP.  Or I may protest with the MMORPG Alliance ...

    Amen. Amen.

That last sentence made me want to renew my old WOW account. Yeah the game is not all that good now days...

.... but its still better than any F2P game. (I dont mind B2P though.)

What? You dont think they want your money or something? Its a company why do you think they made the game? To improve your life and waste their own time?

Nothing to be "mad" about, personally.  Wasn't going to buy the game anyway so they could charge whatever they want for whatever virtual nonsensical thing they come up with.  Looking forward to the future thanks to companies like this and EA though.

Gonna be so great, can't you just see it now?  After trudging through the noob zone in project newawesome mmo our brave group makes their way to the first of thousands of reported dungeons.  When they approached the entrance everyone's screen went to a billing page where you could pay $.99 for 1 hour of dungeoneering.  Additional hours are available at $1.99 per hour.  Oh, don't forget every chest you want to open will cost $.99, as will equipping any new item that unfortunately drops that would actually improve your character.  Hopefully it won't be a relic or legendary teir weapon though, that page will take you directly to an HSBC loan agent who will ensure you are able to continue your adventures after they receive your genetic sample to ensure you are healthy enough and wealthy enough to participate.  Not to mention they need to ensure that you have progeny available as collateral.

It is an old story, and every time someone sneezes they look for ways to separate you from your currency and there are droves of mouth breathers begging for it.

I see what you are saying. No.

A LOT of games have special edition. People are just getting mad about the whole faction thing.

Just because it has a Imperial edition does not mean that that your gonna be charged like that.

    I played in beta also.

I got faction pride in DAoC from being part of a faction that was entirely different from the other 2 factions. Now there is nothing different here except the color of the team. We all have the same skills and same races. There really is no difference than fighting for your server in GW2 except if I play 24/7 I may be #1 and get another skill line and armor set. I wanted to kill Nords and now I have to group with them.

I could careless about them selling the Imperial as a CE gimmick and actually thought that would of been brilliant if they were the only race that could of played in any alliance.
