Delay and lag in combat

I recently started playing aion again...and it seems as if there is a delay after every time i press a skill that makes combat very unfluid and flat out lame. I was wandering if this is caused by the client still downloading in the background. Latency is good so I have ruled out connection issues. If anyone has any info on this problem a solution would be much appreciated

I had a similar problem when I played. For some reason the advanced graphics option caused my system lag central even though my card is fine to play GW2 at max settings. I found that when I disabled the advanced graphics engine I could max the regular settings and my game would run smoothly.
