Getting a refund?

LugorsLugors Member UncommonPosts: 184

Anyone start down the path of getting a refund yet.  Is it worth even engaging customer service, or should we just contact our bank and get a charge back?

Believe everyone is clear on why consumers would start this process with an online game that is rarely online and barely playable.

take a deep breath, walk around outside, maybe get a snack and a nap as well. It's day two of nearly a million people clamoring into servers, we've seen this a million times and everyone (like you) over react and want their money back. You know that by monday everything will start flowing somewhat normally and everything will be good by the end of the week.

I'm certainly not going to try to get a refund over 1 day of downtime for a game I plan to play for a couple years if at all possible.

[mod edit], it's early access. Sure the game is down a lot, but if you can't get over launch problems don't pre-purchase games and watch the game for a week or more and then decide if you want to buy the game or not.

    OH it's early access ??

Oh hell...I thought it was live as in for everyone!! Yeah just take a break and try again later or tomorrow!!!

OMG all this fuss over early access XD......really you HAVE to expect this now a days...what did you think that you were the only one trying to log in on day one ??

Jesus people.  We have a right to be upset.  We paid money for a product we aren't able to use.  We keep getting the same bullshit cut and paste responses thanking us for or patience, etc, etc, blah blah.

SE gave us a broken piece of crap with 1.0.  We now have an excellent game that's broken because we can't log in and play it.  I don't know if your money came from your parents or what.  Mine came from 16 hour days in the military.  I have a right to be upset about the fact that even the errors give no information.  "World Full LULZ, try again when there is an opening".  Ok... HOW THE HELL DO I KNOW WHEN THERE IS AN OPENING!

Three times while I've been trying to log in I get a queue message.  I've been 2nd, 17th, and 94th in the queue and each time it just pops up again with a 1017 World Full message.

It's fucking broke.  I paid money.  I have a right to be upset about it.

[mod edit]  Would rather have laggy gameplay and wait in line for the duty finder for class quests than not be able to play at all!

A huge portion of the problem is that you can literally AFK all day and not get booted.  With them limiting logins, these people are essentially locking everyone else out of the game why they masturbate to anime porn.

Oh come on, how can everyone expect the OP to not be cross over this? When a person pays for a product, that product should be delivered. SE promised a head start to people who pre-ordered the game, this promise not really being fulfilled or at least not satisfactory. If I buy a TV and it is all blurry I expect to get a new TV or my money back. If I buy a hamburger with cheese I expect to get the cheese. I don't just say oo I expect the burger to be without cheese even though I paid for cheese. What is the difference with this? The OP paid for a head start, he should have gotten that but didn't. So telling the op to chill and relax I think is not helpful.

I was just wondering this morning how long it would be before the refund posts started. Now I know. image

Rarely online and barely playable for you. My Arcanist is 23 working on 30 and I already got conjurer 15 so I can class change to Scholar at level 30. Been having a blast and look forward the future of this game. Threads like these don't make sense. A new game launches and go downs a few times for maintenance and its time to get a refund?

Yes, you have a right to be upset if you wish to. You did pay money and the game is having troubles.

However, the reality of mmo's is that this sort of thing is not that uncommon upon the release of a new game (some dev's do better than others, but overall this is not too uncommon).

So look inside yourself and decide if these problems are enough to quit a game that you might get years out of? I don't think for me they are, because I know a week from now I will barely remember these problems and I'll be having loads of fun (past experience with other mmo launches).

Sigh. The game isn't even technically released yet and you people are QQing for a refund.

Although I am glad I decided to play on a JP server instead of a NA/EU one.

And this is why I'm playing on the Japanese servers.

It is during early access, which was supposed to be available to those who buy in advance who now will not get what they paid for. If anything, those who pre-ordered should ask for a refund and then buy the game again. Just by matter of principle.

Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.

Oh god how whiny asses ppl become...refund and giving up on game because they can't play on early access. Lets make it clear you give up on MMO game only because you cant play it for few days, even if you...you know its mmo and shit usually get fixed and can provide few hundredth/ thousands hours of gameplay. You know get your refund and pls dont play mmo ppl like you are cancer to whole genre.

Try selling stuff in advance that doesn't work to a corporation and see how they treat you.

I should have made a character on the JP server and transfered him out when they open up paid services.

I have been thinking about canceling this game's order and getting the Ouya so I can download and play emulations of all 4 old Dragon Warriors from the old NES. When I was at EB games yesterday a person working there told me 3 peeps had already canceled their preorder in disgust of what has been happening.

I have never seen this amount of problems in a mmo. Never. I will hold out. I will probably go ahead and play it for a month. IF these issues continue I will NEVER play another SE mmo again. Never.

FInal Fantasy 11 was so much smoother.

    End of line.

People that try to get a refund to this to me are despicable human beings.*

You dont deserve a refund*.  You were never guaranteed access the whole 3 days.  You never paid for those three days.  Its borderline fraudulent to ask for a refund for this.  Not to mention shows a complete misunderstanding of the technical aspects of the genre.  Not to mention you havent even waited to see if they will give you additional free time on top of what you already have.

*possible exception to the 1.0 owners that basically paid 30 bucks for only the early access

You should thank me for enlightening you, because given that first comment, I must have taught you something.

Seems like there's quite a bit new mmorpg newbies who just dont know yet that these games... These games just wont work as games are supposed to work, at launch. However, they almost always work as expected, that means a lot of crashes, servers down all the time, unable to log in, etc etc all the standard stuff, that's just the reality and it wont change anytime soon :)

    this.

Issues are expected, and I expected nothing more nothing less than this lol.  I am getting to play, and having fun. The problems suck, but it's like that with any MMO. All their own annoying problems. It'l smooth out in a few weeks.
