Rift Explodes: Elrar Fired without Cause

Hyperion5182Hyperion5182 Easton, PAPosts: 66Member

And until Trion says otherwise that's how i'm reporting it.

Trion forum watchers were amazed shocked and astonished to find a post from Dahanese stating among other things that Elrar was gone.

There has been no good bye post there has been no explanation even on the live stream earlier today despite massive demand Trion has by their Silence Fired Elrar without reason. Why this has happened and how is at the moment anyone's guess and the speculation is Rampant including a possible EA buyout of the Rift Game itself. The lack of response from Hartsman despite having the perfect forum to address the players earlier today speaks volumes.

I do not know where Elrar will end up he may well be the best CM in the industry and was incredibly respected and well liked among the players. Trion's silence however speaks volumes on this issue and is a warning to all of its players who are like me down right SHOCKED this has happened.

This has been a tradition at Trion dating from long before closed beta testing began. Many CM have left Trion without a word to the community.

.... and who was he and what is a CM?

Experience dictates that there is almost always a reason why someone was "let go," that is if he didn't resign, and companies sometimes don't like to go into the details for obvious reasons.  Sure they'll address it eventually in very carefully worded address.

Fired without cause? Everything i read earlier said nothing of the sort, all anyone knows is that he no longer works for them. There is no point in dramatizing it for effect.

Has any mmo development company ever said why they fired someone?  Employees have chosen to announce it when they leave and give a message, but I can't think of a time ever when someone was fired and it was announced why.  There are a ton of reasons not to announce why someone was fired (if they were fired).  Many of them due to legal issues.  If they did something very wrong for example, and the company announced it, that could make it more difficult for the employee to get a job in the future.  It isn't any of our business why someone isn't still with a given company.  If the company or the individual wants to make it our business by announcing it, then so be it, but until that point, it simply is none of our business.

Trion has 0 obligation to inform the public about his cancellation.

Sheesh, first it's development, now it's P&O. What's next, financial administration? Do you people think you have a say in everything? lol.

How many CMs does Rift have? CMs come and go. It is not like he is leading the designing team or anything.

Now that Elrar is gone, Trion has 0 CM's left. This past week they have fired every single one of them.

Trion appears to in the process of doing a rather significant round of layoffs (including closing a couple of offices entirely).  It's unlikely there's any drama, just the brutally unpleasant side of business and budgets

( er ... this was posted when the thread was in a different forum ... *sympathies to all affected* )

Well...that's Life for you. Sometimes you are cut and sometimes you cut.

All the best wishes to elrar!

Now I'm 599653% sure that f2p Rift is totally different from p2p Rift(and Hence no point in me playing it)...
