Why is Tera not more popular?

    I really like the combat system, I just wish that the game had been built around a hack-n-slash style rather than the boring quest-to-quest style. I couldn't get past level 20 before I wanted to jump off a cliff.

    Man it breaks my heart to talk about TERA. I was anxiously watching it before it was released in the US and I was just praying the pvp was going to be fun. Alas it wasn't. It was just another super grindy, quest hub filled themepark mmo.

     

    The combat system is really fun and the game looks sooooo good. It even runs very well considering how good it looks. I just couldn't stomach the grind. Go to this area, get the 8 or so quests for the various people, do those quests, go to the next area, repeat. It got to the point where I pretty much had to promise myself to play like an hour or 2 every day, otherwise I wouldn't.

    The unbalanced overpowered elins with much longer range on all classes, many skills & also much shorter casting animations. They lied once about fixing hitboxes wen there was clear tested proof they did nothing.

    They ignore this problem for years & also braka,demon races lancer still with garbage range even on skills, just broken. Yea a tiny girl has more range than iron giant that can throw the dam thing across a football field stupid devs ~_~

    Pve content is filler garbage which only leaves pvp...with these issues....no ty plz die tera, enmasse & BHS or watever the devs r called

    Never understood why people say that I Terra has great graphics. Characters are well done if a bit dead behind the eyes. But the environments are mostly empty except for the odd bush here and there. Found it well optimized though.

    I can't figure it out either.  I think they are average at best, at least regarding the environments.

    Take Tera's combat system, remove the horrible questing system and let the game's natural progression be all about BAMF's, open up the world a bit and put it in a Neverwinter or Elder Scrolls art then you'd have a helluva game IMO.  The hyper sexulization of  the Eastern world is paramount kiddy porn in my view and the 2 cultures art styles don't mix well for the most part.

    Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

    Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

    Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

    I couldn't get past the looks of the races. 

    Also, no class stood out as interesting to me. I kept rerolling but could never get attached to a class or race.

    Idk... just wasn't my bag, I guess.

     

    And for the record, I enjoyed Aion's look & feel. Go figure... /shrug

    The only thing that bugged me about Tera was the run of the mill quest grind of kill X of Y or take object A to location B.  Everything else about the game was fun though.  I liked my duel wielding dragon lady warrior.

    I played TERA from day 1 of the original launch.  I quit back when it was subscription only due to the lack of any end-game content (PvE or PvP) and the crazy insane Korean grind for gear (a single set of "the best" gear back in those days had a value of well over $5000 USD).

     

    I tried TERA again once it went F2P, but I only made it to level 45.  I hate questing, and TERA has the same boring quests as the other 10,000 boring quest MMO's out there.  But TERA had no other way to level.   You could wait in dungeon queue for 2 hours to run 1 dungeon for 2% of your level worth of XP or quest.  That's it.   No thanks.

     

    I heard they added in lower level BG's that give XP now, but no interest in going back a 3rd time.

    Is not that the game is bad, the thing is it fades fast, not to mention things can't progress without Korean approval.

    Why you think WoW is the most popular (loosing it now) MMO in Asian market. Because Asian MMOs dont know how to last or keep you interested long enough, that why they pop up so easily. They all have this grand vision but not executed well, Tera is no exception..

    Unfortunately its questing is a bit to generic and lacks a real sense of change and variation. I don't think anyone has a problem admitting its combat system can arguably be considered one of the best (if not THE best) of any MMO out there. Unfortunately besides that (and graphics) it can be lacking and has much to generic of a feel behind it. 

     

    There will be people who find the combat at fault, typically those who are seeking a much more basic combat system without a lot of complexity and skill added in. Someone who lets say likes gw2 combat wouldn't like it since its not spammy and involves a lot more planning and thought behind each attack rather then a 'run around like a chicken with their head cut off and spamz' system which I can see why it feels like its having more action even though the button spamming does little to nothing to change how combat works. Still I don't think that is a majority of players, I feel mostly its systems particularly leveling just aren't that great. Amazing combat can only do so much to carry a game.

    Um... its not? Aion was actually on top for the longest time until Blade and Soul came out. Its never been the top game in Asia.... what you are just saying is just wrong...

    if it wasn't out there GW2, TERA would be my MMO, but i dont have time for 2 MMOs ... : /

    also even new MMOs looks so boring compared to GW2, for me ...

    Yeah, I seen all that, and I liked flying into the main city which was epic. It has good graphics, but not great. Like I said before, most areas of the game lack the small details that games such as GW2 has.

    The horrible community, and the Elin race in general, turned me off to the game. I am sorry, but the general ambiance while in game is disgusting and perverted.

    actually the GW2 doesnt have better graphics from TERA ( that doesnt mean they are average and very good) but has far more better aesthetics, better design qualities, until now none MMO have reached so far as GW2 ...

     

     back to TERA indeed they have done awesome job too for the graphics, and those who have problem with Elin race they have serious problem and i wish they wont have kids cause they will be strict as a nightmare, i dont get the reason why not to be there a cute race ?@?@? whats your problem with cute ??? you accept something brutal and violent and not something cute ??? you are mentally disordered all those who make arguments about the cuteness of Elin or Popori ...

    My body is betraying me I cannot play these action type combat games because my hands ,shoulder and elbow hurts after awhile. So I gave up and I guess if more games including EQN goes this way I am SOL I guess.

    Exactly. Tera has better textures, more polygons and such but GW2 put more effort into its design and aliveness (they have a lot npcs, events and more in their world for example). Tera isn't average though, Tera is placed second, after GW2.

    You guys can keep playing the "cute" card all you want.  But the design of the race is an obvious play on lolicon anime.  It's a blatant sexualization of pre-pubescent girls.

    Perhaps, but I don't see why people are so uptight about it. Clearly, this game was developed for cultures with different sensibilities, but there are several interesting races to roll that aren't creepy. Also, not all of us who play Elin are pervs. When I logged in for the first time and created my berserker, I just thought it would be funny seeing a cute little bunny girl swinging a massive axe around. Had I known half the characters in the game were going to be Elin, I probably would've gone with Poporri.
