If you have to stay inside the 2 GB memory cap of a 32-bit programs anyway in order to have a 32-bit version and avoid locking out a significant fraction of your playerbase, then does it even matter if you also have a 64-bit version?

Why can't both versions be made available ?

What's the point of having to support a second version of a program if it doesn't offer any advantages over the first version for any of your customers?

Until 64 bit apps become the norm, I wouldn't expect it.  It's a lot more work for no payoff for the companies.

Thats the problem, currently nobody wants to ditch the old because so many use it still, and nobody wants to take up the new because everyone is using the old and as such thats what things are being created for.

Most computers have more than 2 GB of ram these days.

Don't know the specs for a PS3, but it will be a different client anyway.

Why would both versions be made available? Making multiple versions when 32bit version already works would be computer equivalent of making 4 separate wheel designs to a car instead of using one design for all 4 wheels.
